Hi Cloud, MovieSlate is now using the Denecke Timecode engine which we developed on our TimecodeToolbox app. In fact, we have actually improved the stability. You can now expect the drift to be about 1 frame per hour. Certainly not as good as we are all used too, but not bad for a consumer grade product. I'd like to say that it has been great working with Cliff and his crew at PureBlend Software.

TC out of sync- fostex, deneke, allexa
Charlie Parra replied to maxslomoff's topic in General Discussion
I have a hunch that it is a combination of BWilson's and Glen's suggestions. -
Hi Eric, No problem at all. Denecke does not have a "tuning system" like the Ambient gear does. Tuning a Denecke box requires reading the Crystal Frequency with a precision frequency counter. -- Charlie

Hey Todd! Glad I was able to help. 0.1 frames in 6hrs should do it. That's pretty interesting that you got that kind of accuracy on a MacBook. Unfortunately the iDevices are a different animal. Talk soon. -- Charlie

TS-3 Slate back clip for notes plate came off
Charlie Parra replied to deep owl's topic in Equipment
Hi Daniel, The log plate clip is easy to reinstall. Simply remove the 6 screws holding the back cover onto the back plate to get access to the inside. If you have some Lock Tight, I would suggest adding a drop to the clip screw. If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself, we will be happy to reinstall it for you at no charge. I hope this helps! -
Hi Scott, When you may be seeing a processing delay on the HD-P2's display. This is just a guess on my part though. :-) Charlie

I have a few Timecode questions please
Charlie Parra replied to Michael Miramontes's topic in Workflow
Hi "canaatriplett", David is correct. If you enable the "Hold Clap Frame" mode, the clapped time will displayed about 1 second after the display turns off. The amount of time the clap time is held is user selectable as well. To set the modes, please see page 5 & 6 here: http://www.denecke.com/Support/Downloads/Documents/Slate%20Operating%20Instructions.pdf I hope this helps! Feel free to contact us if you require any further information. Best Regards, Charlie -

L.A. Sound Mixer Gathering - What it is, what it is not

Sorry I missed it! Unfortunately, I had to attened a memorial service for a close friend's mother. Hopefully I'll make the next one. -
Hi Bob, 59.94 refers to the Video Frame Rate. The equivalent Timecode Frame Rate is 29.970. It they are shooting Drop frame then you must run 29.970 Drop Frame as well. As has been mentioned, there is no 59.94 Timecode frame rate currently available (not part of the Standard). I hope this helps Charlie

Hi Jack, I wish I could tell you that it will be available soon, but sadly I can't. It is still on our "to do" list.
-
Hi BDA, Yes, the Denecke TimecodeToolBox app correctly displays the incoming frame rate and can be used to verify (identify) a frame rate that you are uncertain of. I hope this helps! Best Regards, Charlie

Hi everyone, Just confirming the obvious here.... The 1/4 jack on the TS-2SB and TS-3 is an input at start up (slate turn on) and then becomes an output once the slate is running (numbers rolling). Please note that this is not the case with a TS-C. The only way to get TC out from a TS-C is through the 5 pin LEMO. It is sorta a hidden feature. Perhaps we should make it a bit more clear? Best Regards, Charlie

It sounds like you have an older version of the SB-2 (possibly originally an SB-1 before the software update). These older boxes can not drive more than one input. The later boxes have a low impedence output (Transistor ouput) which is capable of driving long lines or multiple (two) inputs. I hope this helps! Best Regards, Charlie

I would guess that you would get about a day out of a iPower 9v battery under "normal" slating use. It will vary depending on the display brightness and if the sticks are kept closed between takes. At the very least, I would say half a day.

Hi everyone, Lithium batteries will work fine in a TS-3 or TS-C (we need to change our brochure). A 9v battery will do the trick as well, but don't expect the same kind of life as you would get with AA. 9v batteries simply can not supply the same amount of current as AA can. Best Regards, Charlie

Hi everyone, Just to confirm what has already been mentioned, position #4 on the rotary dial is labled as "23". It is in fact 23.976fps TC. Charlie

Hi Everyone, After 6 1/2 years of being cramped in our current location, Denecke is relocating! The good news for you locals is that it's not too far from our current location. In fact, we will be just around the corner from the Santa Clarita Studios. Effective Monday, July 16th, our new address will be: Denecke, Inc. 25209 Avenue Tibbitts Valencia, CA 91355 Our phone and fax numbers will remain the same. Also, please note that to allow time for us to move, our office will be closed on Friday, July 13th, so please mark your calendars and plan accordingly. Best Regards, Charlie

Hi Chris, Hmm not sure about that one. ?? Please send us an email (or post here if you like) and tells us what the app is (or isn't) doing and we'll see if we can figure something out. Thanks! Charlie

Denecke TS-C Backlight Generating Noise?
Charlie Parra replied to Michael Wynne's topic in Equipment
Hi Michael, Some noise from the backlight is normal. However if it is excessive, then there may be a problem with the inerter driving the back light. It sounds like that may be the case with your TS-C. Give us a call or send us an email tomorrow and we'll take care of it for you. Sorry for the inconvenience. Best Regards, Charlie
