stacysound Posted November 4, 2019 Report Posted November 4, 2019 Seen it a dozen times and it never gets old. GOAT Quote
Moesound Posted November 4, 2019 Report Posted November 4, 2019 Fantastic! Thanks for sharing, Al. Great little documentary. I got this album for Christmas (along with my first stereo!), sophomore year in high school. Fond memories. Moe Quote
afewmoreyears Posted November 5, 2019 Report Posted November 5, 2019 Still one of my favorite albums.... wonderful.. Quote
Mike Westgate Posted November 5, 2019 Report Posted November 5, 2019 Always good to hear them! I have the two DVD's about their work that are fascinating. Also a book "Reelin' in the Years" tells more about them and also recounts the loss of one album recorded with an early noise reduction system that would not track properly on replay! Did see them live once here in NZ mike Quote
Jim Feeley Posted November 6, 2019 Report Posted November 6, 2019 I got AJA as a gift when I was a kid. You all might find this nine-minute YouTube video interesting. The YTer, Rick Beato, gets a little excited in a couple spots, but he does make his point rather convincingly: Quote
al mcguire Posted November 6, 2019 Author Report Posted November 6, 2019 That guy Rick really talks a lot, I think Dr Steve Gadd is worthy of an entire solo post of his work. BTW no one is talking about how many songs Wendel the drum machine played on, http://rogernichols.com/wendel Quote
Mike Westgate Posted November 8, 2019 Report Posted November 8, 2019 Wow guys! Thanks so much for sharing those So interesting and to find out the names of the session players as I tend to overlook the details and just listen to the CD's mike Quote

Played for Steely Dan. Wendel could not "humanize" they always went back to real drummers. This is not an insult to Roger, he was one of the greats I had a chance to meet. He has told me so many Steely Dan session and road stories, I could write a book, but leaving it to him!! Quote
