  1. oh there we go - I'll defer to Phil on this one - I've got a few complaints about premiere pro exports myself!
  2. Protools ( and I imagine pretty much all audio post software ) has settings to convert all ingested files to same sample rate/bit depth automatically and/or supports mixed formats anyways - it's kinda a non-issue if you ask me
  3. There's nothin' quite like the depth found in certain aged cask strengths - Coming to the bottom of a Adelphi Caol Illa - outrageous stuff - too easy to drink
  4. 80 proof is 40% alcohol - anything above from that is better with a drop of water anyways
  5. You're asking in the context of getting a feed to your cart/bag for your own reference tho hey?
  6. 2 frames not too bad, a good dialog editor can see about a 1/4 frame out but ( my theory ) is most people won't see this but will still feel like something's not right - depends if you're mixing to the picture somewhat - im getting a feed that's 11 frames from vid split or 5.5 frames delay if I use the Qtake stream and it's a PITA
  7. I disagree with the above comments. I think it's well worth getting some kit, aim for decent used stuff - the Sonosax is maybe overkill to start with - the other 2 recorders will likely be a useful back up ( or Renter ) for a good while if you do upgrade - I would also look at a 633 it covers 90% of my gigs, as does 3 wires and a boom. IFB you can start with a couple and add as you go - G3s are great - get the best boom you can afford ( ie a step up from the Rode ) you'll never regret it
  8. I've bought 3 of the short cable type and found them to be really unreliable - 2/3 failed in short time and I ended up cutting them up wiring the lavs direct, the adaptor cables aren't great.
  9. Yes, but phasing cancellation has nothing to do with the brand of microphone, it's the relative position of the mics to each other
  10. AFAIK Reds are fairly fussy about the TC voltage
  11. I've found the cubs to sound amazing at times, taking a lot of gain and seeming to lift the voice out without the car noise coming up too much - However I've tried them in other situations and been perplexed by the way they sounded - Centre stage for an opera recording for some low stage edge stuff - so 'crunchy' sounding, but truly fantastic for a cello spot for a tricky quartet recording I did
  12. Must say I was surprised recently when I got 2 4099's intending to use them for car shots. I thought there was something wrong with the 302 the noise floor was so high. Better sounding and slightly quieter using the xlr adaptors but not by much - I'll wait and see if they're a win over the cubs, yet to use in anger
  13. Right on the forehead is too close for an 8060 IMHO - 50 never really too close - they can always roll a bit of presence out later, unless maybe it's the only mic you have and the shots are superwide and tight -
  14. Yeah I've carried a couple of cheap vests in the car a coupletimes lately when there's going to be a few guys on wires and no wardrobe

    wingman?

I found this odd if we're referring to the same thing - on the iphone at least you need to swipe onto the second screen meter view for wireless track arming I found this odd if we're referring to the same thing - on the iphone at least you need to swipe onto the second screen meter view for wireless track arming
  16. All good - I've had good dealings with Trew in the past, and thought this was quite weird. Our local auction site in NZ is not the silent auction style, so I'm fairly unfamiliar with it.
  17. Shouldn't have wasted your breath, or assumed that I haven't....
  18. So what's the deal, anyone know - I'm trying to get a few bits of gear and put bids on a few things on the used sales of Trew. I've seen these things sitting at the same price for weeks then within minutes of me bidding I get an email to say I've been outbid. Do they automatically put bids on till you hit the reserve?
  19. it's in the menu - playback to headphones only - not very convenient tho
