  1. +1. Those are stunning Jim, and glad to help your neighbor.
  2. Works now. Something changed. Not sure what, but very thankful.
  3. Wow..it finally works! Happy Easter to you Olle!
  4. So much of the world to see..such an education at this thread..so many things for an ignorant kid like me to learn ~ things that I'd have never, ever known. Music my mind was steeped in as a child. Artists I never knew..the overwhelming power of the orchestras. If I could spend all my days educating myself at this very thread (44 pages!), which just takes a life of it's own, I would. So much history, so much beautiful music, so many awesome live recordings, beautifully shot images...I can't get my mind around it..and it's often daunting. For the things you guys show me, how could I ever thank you? I always trust your judgement ~ the official videos, the live orchestras, the history, the studio sessions, the interviews. I've so much gratitude, it brings tears to my eyes. You guys move me. Crew, Al, Nick, Jim Gilchrist, Vasileos, New Mexico Jim, Christian, and the other regular posters who take the time to post here..just...thanks guys. This is one of the most meaningful threads here. I never tire of it.
  5. Yes, that's just a browser setting. Clicking on any of the links opens the post a new tab here, and that's how I have it set. Very grateful.
  6. I always felt Big Science was one of the few albums that really made me stand up and take stock of who we are, and what we've become. Oh Superman was surely one of the most notable on the effort, but the title cut just says it all. Such understatement.
  7. It works great, Jeff. Thanks so much! I tested it all kinds of ways. Each time, my query was answered with about 10 pages of results. I couldn't fool it. Such a vast improvement on the original. : )
  8. Hi Jeff, I'm not sure if this happens with others here: At JWS, I need to search out anything "BDS". I put in the characters BDS into the JWS General Forum search engine. I get zero results. I then enter the characters "Battery Distribution System" in the same search engine window at the General Forum, and up comes results that defy the result of my original search. I accidentally find that the third post in the search results have the characters BDS in it. Seems to me that third result ~ the one with OP's characters "BDS" (being parseable text in a topic title heading), should turn up in my first search (the "BDS" search). The '+more search options' does the same thing. My question is: Does the search engine module...not recognize seemingly randomly capitalized characters, or acronyms? I noticed my search term "Battery Distribution System" does not come up with capital letters in OP's post, because it's not entered with capitals. Even when OP skips a space, the search module still finds my search terms: Battery Distribution System, regardless of the missing space, but never recognized my capital letters. Stranger is, OP enters the meta tag 'bds' in lower case. So in another test, I search with the lower case characters: "bds". I still gets zero results. What does this? It seems to be around the issue of capital characters, and/or meta tags. I would have searched this issue first, but that began to represent a textbook catch-22. Thanks very much, for all you do. : ) Rachel
  9. You're having entirely too much fun, Philip.
  10. JBOND: Thank you so much for sharing your personal collection of recorders with us. That's amazing information, and I appreciate each post. I'm a big fan of reel to reel and I'm in awe of the JBR. I don't blame you at all for protecting your pictures. They're one of a kind and you go to a lot of trouble to present them in the finest light. It's history not many will ever see.
  11. Very true, I'm terrible for mining old threads, though he said he'd offer a report, right? Well, maybe this thread will be searched by those feeling nervous about an upcoming shoot. (also, I think it's great for the newbs to see that the nervousness really never subsides totally).
  12. No problem, Nick. I really enjoyed the read. It looks like the writer still needs information from the soundies who have information to impart about the BBC's sound gear in the early days of the BBC broadcast studios: "An apology - firstly for all those errors which are almost certainly still sprinkled throughout the above. I shall do my best to put them right when I discover them or when somebody contacts me with the facts! Secondly - I am very aware that I have almost completely ignored sound in all my comments about studio equipment. It's not that I'm not interested, rather that I am far better informed about cameras and lighting and frankly there is very little information out there about which sound mixer was installed in what studio and when. That's my excuse anyway" Yes, I quoted myself, :\
  13. eh..it's December now, and I'm sure you've wrapped the interview. So how'd it go?
  14. I found a little BBC London studio history (including Lime Grove and Alexandra Palace) with photographs, stories, and floor plans of other seminal BBC London broadcast facilities here: http://www.tvstudiohistory.co.uk/old%20bbc%20studios.htm I was hoping to see the Mellotron, but that was much more engaging.
  15. I can't believe they covered one of my favorite Wheatus tunes....
  16. Thank you, Michael. I had to clip and repost the advert here. Patty Hearst would have been envious.
