  1. I really like the concept of this app. Simple and easy, it does one thing, you don't seem to have any ambitions to turn it into an app that gives you everything you need (I for one don't see a benefit from getting directions to set or stuff like that). The simple beauty of an app that is the replacement for a paper. Great idea. Shame I'm I not in the business (and frankly I think you are too cus my language is spoken by 10 million people and I imagine programming Swedish into your app won't be an easy task). All the best
  2. Just checking if I understand correctly.. you download the app, and the app searches your inbox for PDF files that look like they could be today’s callsheet? And that is all you would see in the app, as in if there isn’t a PDF file that looks like a callsheet in your inbox, nothing is displayed? I’m not the target user and I can’t help you with using the app since I’m currently not in the business where callsheet are a thing, just interested in how it works:)
  3. Also, if my mic produced wine, I'd bring glasses out post wrap. Jokes aside, if my mic produced a Whine, I would Def check the possibility of replacing the cable altogether from the head. This is more usual with dpa mics. The other thing might be the capsule itself. I would reach out to Sanken too. Good luck!
  4. It's totally possible that the fibres of the pole are weak at some point in the pole. I'm no manufacturer but I mean the fibres are woven together (?) so I guess every single point in the pole can't be exactly as strong as the other... And I was unclear with the tape. I put the tape in the locking collar. So in the Psc pole there was a little piece of white plastic between the locking ring and the next section. I put the tape on that little white plastic, and it made for a tighter fit and that eliminated the creak for me at least..
  5. When Dave Fisk worked for K-tek,he put up a video of him cleaning a K-tek pole. I think he used Windex (might work with any window polish) and WD-40. I've used that with good results on K-tek poles. Not sure how well that method fares with other poles, but I guess it can't hurt. I've used olive oil to grease collars and threads in emergency situations (Only oil I could find) Creaking would suggests that somewhere somethings not gripping tightly enough. I had a PSC pole that creaked when I turned it. I got rid of it when I took the whole thing apart, cleaned it and put a strip of magic tape on the last collar (the one closest to the bottom), there was probably a 0.02mm gap or something and the tape solved that, for the time being, at least.
  6. There's probably more behind it than I know. I'm just an ignorant, emotionally devastated, viewer trying to think about something else
  7. Wow, I can see why. I need a therapist now. Very gripping... Sound : Some fine display in dynamics as well, the neverclip must've come in handy. Picture : very fine images, by i can't help but thinking that four cameras means that they didn't really know what they wanted? I mean in the edit, it doesn't seem like they're using every angle.. Or maybe just very clever editing and very lazy viewing and analyzing on my part. To all of you who still haven't watched it; do it. Great show.
  8. Watching this now and OMG. Very immersive series. You did a fantastic job, no doubt. Great work
  9. No you're not missing anything... I was being sarcastic in the Swedish way. Sure, 32 bit is great and all, but it's still not magic, and it's still not going to solve everything for everyone, which some of the advertising suggests. And the newbie crowd, like the videographers who don't have time for learning audio at all, will still not be able to get good audio. Neither will aspiring photographers be able to get great images from a camera with a full sensor and Lightroom if they don't learn the basics and hone their skills. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the benefits of 32 bit, I just think the marketing is a bit weird...
  10. Clipping is a thing of the past! Unless of course if you, like everyone else, are using wireless systems with inferior dynamic range. Sure, you'll be able to get that whole range, but it'll still be less than what your recorder is capable of. It's only if you plug a mic straight into the recorder that you're safe. This will have a lot of newbies confused. Or is it magic!?
  11. This is now the "full size sensor " in the sound world. It still needs to sound good, not just be able to not sound terrible. It's still not the same thing..
  12. The thing with quickfist is that it has a flap that crosses the hole where you put the pole, so the risk of it falling is minimized. With my (I might have used the wrong size then) tool flex holder, all it takes is a little bump or yank and the pole falls off. I used a nite ize gear tie to hold the boom down in the toolflex holder, but that isn't very quick or elegant..
  13. I have a similar story just the opposite thing happened.. When I had just started out, I did a commercial where the clients, I think a yoghurt company, were kinda douchey. And at the time I didn’t have much experience with anything, but I did what my producer wanted and rented a lot of IFBs and every actor wore lavs. One little thing I had overlooked was battery life. At the time, I had a 302 with a zoom h4n as my recorder. Between setups, I turned everything off to preserve precious battery life, and it sort of looked bad on me, since the IFB constantly went silent, and it kinda bothered everyone in the video village... anyway, the main actor and the 1st AD were really fed up with the douches, and they talked openly on set (the douches were far away though) about just how douchey they were with their yoghurt.. It then dawned on the actor that she was wired and that the clients, producers and directors were probably listening. Her whole face and stance just fell. She saw her career just fly away. And at that moment I happened to stand right next to them, and I quickly just blurted out “oh no everything is turned off, they can’t hear anything”. And I said it mainly because i was stressed, it wasn’t planned, I was being cheap! But it saved the whole shoot I imagine. They weren’t nice on the douches...
  14. I own the toolflex, and there's been more than one incident of the boom pole falling out of it. Luckily nothing broke because of it, but it's not what you want from a holder. Get the quickfist
  15. Perhaps the only good thing about wireless with less range then..
  16. Oh yeah, I should’ve just written that you can trial it indefinitely. But even after like two three days you’ll have bought it cus it’s just so much bang for buck. 17. Give Reaper a spin! www.reaper.fm It can do pretty much anything you want and it's free as long as your conscience allows it to be. The stock plugins are OK. I too would buy into Nuendo and izotope later on, but start off with reaper and get a feel for what it can do. Lots of how-tos and tutorials on YouTube.
  18. On my watch list, too. About that PA constantly nagging, I feel your pain. Nowadays, I work in radio, full time, so I’m used to being the one saying “I am ready to mix now”, instead of the other way around. I filled in for a mixer for a weekend on a feature, and the PAs were real quick to ask me the question, as if the wires were the biggest Time Thief. It’s such a belittling question....
  19. Utterly amazing! Humans are so dominant and powerful and full of ourselves that we can now make anything a mirror. Magnificent art!
  20. Great! As I've transitioned into radio I've been working a bit with the Digico SD11, and it works sort of the same only even more complex of course, but that's a great feature that you can configure all the banks.
  21. Do you mean the clicking is audible in the physical world or just in the recordings in the computer? If th answer is the former, I tend to agree with Mike, lol!
  22. That sounds great! And you can configure which encoder controls which input in all the banks?
  23. Been following the build of the marble machine X for a year or more now. Fascinating stuff.
  24. I too wonder about this. And I think I've come to the conclusion that even if you could cycle each encoder individually (say 1 is zaxnet gain and 2 is channel volume etc, different colors for each encoder indicating they control different values) I wouldn't want that. I think it just overcomplicates thing to a point where I probably couldn't confidently navigate the unit and deliver good quality. Sure, you can learn anything, but the level of complexity cycling every encoder individually would introduce would be.. Too much for me. I'd much rather have to cycle through banks of five to get to the control value I want, even in a stressful situation. It narrows down the margin of error by a lot, in my head at least. However, I would love to be able to program the banks myself. Meaning I would like to have the ability to say Bank 1 should be channel volume 1-5, Bank 2 input trim for 1-5, Bank 3 pan 1-5 etc. Or Bank 1 channel volume 1-3, and trim for 1-2, Bank 2 Zaxnet gain for 2-5 and gain for output 1 So scrolling through banks, I would know which banks do what and so forth... But scrolling, switching between banks should always scroll all of the encoders IMO addendum: Well, posted before I read Glenn's post.
