  1. I love those neverwet commercials.. I think they throw paint all over a guy with that sprayed on his clothes and it doesn't stick! It's certainly worth a try.
  2. Since everyone here has decided that your boom pole is crap, might I suggest that you check the consignment sections on the usual suspect's web stores. Trew audio, Gotham sound, and pro sound. You can pick up a decent pole like a VDB or k-tec with some miles on it. Parts are available and you would be surprised what a good cleaning will do for them.
  3. I had a small problem with a drive and had no problem recovering the MARF.
  4. Wendt X4. Cheap. Light. 4 channels.
  5. Ok. One last treat from Lectrosonics. I'm most certainly going to add this to my gear list. This is the new RF VENUE-12. It has backward compatabilty to recieve transmitters from the early 20th Century that are coming back in to Vouge in Europe and other countries where the talent is, but the boom operators aren't allowed to wear headphones.
  6. More news from the upcoming NAB. Phonak is releasing their vintage RF series behind the ear receivers. I anticipate these will be a hot commodity for the music playback scenes with dialog on Michael Bay's upcoming reboot of the Cocoon franchise. MSRP is around $3700 per unit although I hear Gotham sound will be able to sell them around $3699.
  7. The up and coming new 111 field mixer/recorder from Sound Devices. It certainly does target a niche market, but It features a mix of one track and a morse code decoder on the human interface knob that allows the master gain to be changed by 29 different morse code commands on the fly with just a little bit of study. Perfect for one person interviews and operators with a current HAM radio license. It can run for 37 minutes on 6AA batteries. Ideal for mobile use in a quickly changing environment.
  8. That's right Jeff! That bag really is a nice piece of kit.
  9. I've been told that up to 16 FP2's can be stacked on top of each other for a larger more comfortable fader control.
  10. Looks like the new Deva 32 sports 32 channels to disk. It has 30 fader knobs on the front and with the optional FP2 unit, you can handle the other two faders.
  11. Magic lantern firmware fixes the monitor levels.
  12. That sounds like a great idea, especially for mixers who are shooting nearby other productions. Just plug the other mixers' freqs in and let it help you stay away from his channels and intermods!
  13. It's running it own clock at 24/48 if so selected. No word clock I/o to sync it to any thing else. It is very klunky as the drivers have been long discontinued. There are better solutions with better preamps and converters available for not a lot of money if computer only recording is the route you want to go down. I suspect you can apply stand alone fx, but you want pre-fade-effected ISO tracks don't you? Also, you must watch that sample rate like a hawk to make sure it is where you want it. That unit loves 44.1k. Makes for chipmunk sounding out of sync dailies!
  14. The studio was a bus. The bus was probably sending data out to the mixing or mastering guys working for the label over Internet. Not secure internet.. Was an interesting story. True or not...
  15. Back in the days when I had the patiences to carry a bag I did a bus tour with a major hiphop artist. One of his busses was dedicated to recording his next album while proceeding down the highway.... I can't speak to how well it sounded, but it sold millions... The back of the bus engineer told me that their data was attacked by hackers on a constant basis pretty much every day... Usually our workflow doesn't involve us loading our files to an easily accessible wifi network, but stuff happens. The stealth strategy is great. Big movies don't let their data go anywhere but on a harddrive protected possibly by security streight to the dailies house.
  16. I learn something everyday with hopes of teaching something everyday. Great info fellas!
  17. Sometimes the simplest of solutions are the best! Thanks for that tip for the soldering tip.
  18. Connect the lav to a wireless transmitter to avoid cables being stepped on.
  19. There probably wouldn't be a delay. It's digital and the digital data is written in a form that would require the proper description to decode. Shouldn't take any longer to write to media.
  20. I've been using Kensington 16gb 133x for a long while with no problems in nomad and deva. I use a 126gb sandisk for the main card on nomad. Also, no issues. I use the trancend cards in my dslrs to shoot raw video and the speed tests on those kick the crap out of everything else Ive tested.
  21. I figured it out. I had a loose connection inside the unit on A channel.
