BHSound Posted January 30, 2013 Report Posted January 30, 2013 I am having phantom power poping problems with my nomad. Is this a software issue or a hardware issue? The poping is very intermittent and extremely bothersome. Any suggestions? Quote
Jack Norflus Posted January 30, 2013 Author Report Posted January 30, 2013 It could be a bad capacitor. Quote

The poping is very intermittent and extremely bothersome. Any suggestions? Is a very common failure (on early Nomads), I had a unit with a strong pops on several inputs (with and without phantom), now I have a new one with some noise in two inputs ( still waiting for a new input board) Quote
Michael Miramontes Posted February 21, 2013 Report Posted February 21, 2013 Alright, what's the easiest way to mix channels 7/8? The virtual fader screen just isn't quick enough. Quote

studiomprd Posted February 21, 2013 Report Posted February 21, 2013 " i 'm shure i had the correct cable for this purpose..the SB-T and the cable are from a very serious rental compagny..." so? they could be supplying a cable that works with other gear..." I first thought the cable was faulty, so i tried 3 or 4 other cables. " where were these from ? theycould have been the same incorrect wiring... did you try the test suggested... " i Just don't like not understanding why.. " It could be the cable, or it could be the box... Quote
Michael Miramontes Posted February 21, 2013 Report Posted February 21, 2013 vf mode. Its available on your eng pan screen. Yes, but having to toggle between each fader isn't really working out for me. I need something quicker then that. Mix pre sending AES? I had seen your post before on this. How is this working out for you? Quote
fieldmixer Posted February 21, 2013 Report Posted February 21, 2013 I agree with you Michael, vf isn't an enjoyable mixing experience for me either. Hoping for an external fader module in the future. And panning... Uhg. Quote

PTA Posted February 21, 2013 Report Posted February 21, 2013 I've never seen those. Looks pretty slick. Thanks for the suggestion. No problem. That's the easiest way I could think of that gives you a physical fader. I haven't actually test it out yet though. I could today to see if it works if you'd like. Quote

Also, funny story- I was in a dub stage with mark yesterday when you sent someone over to pick up something for anodizing small world. Quote
glenn Posted February 21, 2013 Report Posted February 21, 2013 Fader control can be easily accessed directly from the ENG home screen. Nomad can be setup to directly access channels 7 and 8 only. Pressing the menu encoder will toggle between the 2 channels. The virtual fader screen is not necessary at this point. Glenn Quote

TallgrassPictures Posted February 25, 2013 Report Posted February 25, 2013 Hi Everyone, I was wondering if there is an experienced (15+ years ) Location Mixer who is familiar with a Zaxcom Nomad config who can do a 1-day training session for common location sound practices. I'm new to the production sound industry and would like someone in the LA,OC,SD (California) area to show me the ropes using a Nomad. If you are interested please email me with your name, years of experience, available equipment, rate(for half day or full day) and contact info: yoshi@tallgrasspictures.com Thanks, Yoshi Quote

Max Futterman Posted February 25, 2013 Report Posted February 25, 2013 Yoshi, I'd contact your local dealer about getting a demo. It's been my experience that most are happy to oblige. Quote
