Fritz
haven't played this in a while. regular batts or liths? I think the average roll will be 2hrs. and for the rcvrs , UCRs and R1a. reg or lith? for IFB - T4 or another UM400?
afewmoreyears
For me.... ALWAYS Lithiums..... unless I know its a under 2 hr. situation.. I bill for them, so... I would rather have the Liths in and relax... I know they will get to lunch and beyond with the dweedle tones..
Allen Green
+1 on Lithiums. Peace of mind is worth the $$. Also as afew said bill them as expendables!
Fritz
that was my feeling, but I wanted some other opinions to sell it. gratzie
Constantin
If your only two choices are lithiums and regular batteries, I'd take lithiums, too. If your choice would include rechargeables, then that is the way to go. It's not just better for the environment, they last pretty long, too (the good ones, anyway) and are much cheaper and you get probably charge productions more for them than lithiums. Per used battery, anyway. What gives me peace if mind is the battery indicator on my receivers
Christian Spaeth
+1 to Constantin. Nothing but rechargeables in my devices. Have not shed a tear on throw away batteries.
Fritz
I'd like to go re-charge, but location may preclude. in any case, do you guys have a brand fave for both batt and re-charger?
Constantin
in any case, do you guys have a brand fave for both batt and re-charger? yes, Eneloop XXX black. In the Sennheiser Ek300, which I have on the camera, they last at least a whole day, without switching off for lunch. Charger. I use the Tensai Genius 16 bay charger and a Varta 8 bay. The latter has a USB port, so it charges my Tentacles. I can charge 56 batteries over night, so I could go for two whole days without recharging and whenever I get tx back, I'll put in fresh ones, just for safety. Something I'd probably avoid with the expensive lithiums.

John Blankenship
Eneloop Pro is the current top of the heap.
Fritz
I gather NiMH are favored as compared to lithium because of discharge expansion? No issues with Lectros?
John Blankenship
I use both Imedion Powerex low self discharge AAs as well as Eneloop Pro (also low self discharge) AAs. The Eneloop Pro batteries yield a little higher capacity and have a bit smaller diameter, so they fit in some devices that the Imedions won't. afewmoreyears
I will use rechargeable in anything BUT Radio mics... NEVER in my Radio mics.. The steep fall off in power and explaining why we need another take are just 2 reasons why... The used Liths. go off for recycling... I don't see an issue here... and shed no tears.... Our job and getting rehired, like many jobs, depend on keeping a low profile, doing a great job and NOT having any issues or being the brunt of a frustrated director... Using the Lithium batteries definitely helps to minimize failures due to batteries going south... It also frees up my brain from having to constantly WATCH power levels or maintain a mental or written list of when they went into service that day and when I need to swap them out.... Sorry, but I for one have better things to do... but as always in life and on this forum...to each their own... Until my method fails me...I am sticking with it... Fritz
all good points as well. dollars, don't care. reliability, in the field away from any kind of convenience store, something to consider on this trip.
marcvonstuerler
100% using rechargeables since years and years, excellent rechargeables are today not a big deal.
Philip Perkins
I'm on both sides. No probs with rechargos on low-key stuff where I can watch batt levels, Lith only on high profile "wide strike zone" gigs, like what AFMY mentions or celebo shoots where your time getting at the TX on the talent is strictly limited. p

Lancashire soundie
I've never had an issue with rechargeables. The Lectro SR gives you plenty of warning of battery level, when the icon flashes = change battery.
Johnny Karlsson
Eneloop Pro lasts about 8 hours in SMQV, so fully charged in the morning, and swap for fresh ones at lunch - no problem.
Abe Dolinger
+1 for Eneloop Pros. I have gotten 30 min out of a TRXLA2 after the battery started flashing in the receiver. NiMH is also supposed to perform better than lithium in cold, as well.
Fritz
for lack of time to get a good multi bay 9v and AA recharger (flying tmrw am and still have work to do), going to use liths this time out.
Fritz
anyone tried these for 9v? http://amzn.to/1jKV143 and perhaps ..... http://amzn.to/1ZLtv7C Edited October 17, 2015 by Fritz
Chadz
I use the ipowerUS usually but I bough the EBL to try them with comteks but they r fat! The battery door won't close easily so I stick to ipower. I don't know about other devices..
PhforAndAfter
I'm all Eneloop Pro unless shooting somewhere where having a power tap is impossible, then I chew through my rechargeables and swap to lithium.
