Maybe this has already been posted here before, but I didn't see it so..... This is for all our 8050 users... SENNHEISER ADDS MZF 8000 FILTER OPTION TO MKH 8000 SERIES TO ENHANCE BROADCAST APPLICATIONS OLD LYME, CONNECTICUT - JUNE 2009: With the new MZF filter module, the MKH 8000 microphone series can provide excellent sound and climate resistance, even in tough broadcasting and film applications. Group, Our first run of the LSC Multi Track sound report is running low and, Before I reorder the 4-part NCR copies I would like to get feedback as to changes that might improve its usefulness. We have just posted the Zaxcom QRX100 page on our web site. http://www.zaxcom.com/qrx.htm There is a lot of detailed information on this new 4 channel ENG receiver, its IFB return channel and sync generator options. In the photos page is a shot of the unit in its Zaxcom camera holder. You will notice a group of 12 LEDs (3 per channel) located on the side of the unit. These will clearly indicate from a great distance that audio is being received by the QRX100 on each of its 4 channels. As most ENG receivers face the sky when in use it seemed logical to position the LEDs in a position that could be easily seen when in the camera mount. The unit can be reversed in the…

Is there a dealer in Europe that specializes in Location Audio Gear like Trew Audio or Coffey Sound in the US? Or, what do you do when you want to find out about prices for a certain piece of gear? Being primarily a post guy myself, I first go to Thomann.de - they've got Senn & Schoeps, but if I want Lectros, Sound Devices, Ambient, Tram, etc, I have to call local dealers (in Serbia) who then have to look it up and order from somewhere, and they can't give prices right away - I have to wait for a couple a days.... Thanks! Danijel Milosevic www.danijelmilosevic.com

Hey everyone, A good friend of mine is preparing a production in Chicago and couldn't find a good place to rent sound equipment. I checked myself and found some ENG rentals, but no store where I could rent a decent mixer or recorder. Is this possible? The third most populated city in America doesn't have a good place to rent a sound package? If anyone could point me to a good rental house in the tri-state area (Illinois, Indiana, or Wisconsin) I would be much obliged. Thanks!

They're finally here. We just got our first PSC Solice Mixing panel in stock an hour ago. Check it out at a dealer near you. It was worth the wait and is certainly a worthy replacement for the fine Cooper line. A Solice panel is on the sales floor now. Let us know if you want a demo here or on your set. John Coffey

LSC just received its first shipment of Rode NTG-3 Shotgun Microphones. Our unscientific side-by-side test this morning with a 416 using a Sound Devices Mix Pre was a bit of a shock. To our ears (and there were four or five of us) the mics were sonically identical in almost every way. Cosmetically, the mic could almost pass for a 416 if not for the unique pattern on the interference tube end cap and feels just the slightest bit heavier. We knew that the folks at Rode were going after a piece of the premium mic pie with a new product but, at $700.00, this mic is quite a revelation and a value. $750-$800 is the going rate for a used 416 in good shape. I can see this being …

Zaxcom will be hosting a barbecue lunch at Coffey Sound on Feb 14th from 11:00AM to 2:00PM. Live demonstrations of our new TRX992 Boom Pole audio system will be available. Please have a look at http://www.zaxcom.com/transmitters.htm. for details on this new product. Once on the Zaxcom site click on TRX992 to get to the page. I believe this unique product sets a new standard in wireless boom operation. We were able to merge the functions of wireless transmitter, phantom power supply, IFB return receiver, backup recording and headphone monitor system into a single box solution that surpasses the audio quality and build quality of any other solution. The VPX power system …

Just a few words to let you know I signed up and will check the pulse of RF discussions from time to time. I'm the General Manager for Professional Wireless Systems which was founded by James Stoffo. Most of you know us by our Helical antenna which Dan described as lookiong like "something out of Babylon 5" and others called it the "top hat". To my knowledge, the only two antennas on the market today for UHF utilizing circular polarization is our Helical and the Sennheiser A5000CP dome. A couple answers to questions or misquotes I have seen: 1. The Helical is a passive antenna, no power required. True for the A5000CP, also. 1a. For long runs (greater than 1…

My name is David White. I was a technician at one of the biggest audio dealers in the business for 15 years. Over that time I have worked on equipment that belongs to most, if not all, of the location mixers in the industry. I have opened my own company, D.W. Sound Service. Although we specialize in service and repair of wireless and communications equipment, we also service Mixing Panels, Slates, Power Supplies, Amps, and most of the equipment that is a part of your sound packages. We will be expanding in the very near future to include Cable and Microphone repair. If there is any way that we might be of "service" to you, please give us a call at (661) 297-4090. Our c…

For you rechargeable lithium 9v users, be aware that there is a serious delivery problem for the new iPower 520mAh pro batteries to the US. We may see a delay as much as 3-4 months until we receive any new product to sell. To help counter this, we have ordered an extra quantity of the 500mAh version of the battery to tie us over. iPower assures us that the current version the the 500mAh is much improved from the original ipower and will be readily available while we wait on delivery of the 520mAh Pro. I will post again when they hit our shelves. Steve Joachim Sales Manager LSC (818)980-9891 x302
