Through hook, crook or bad paperwork on our part (the most likely senario), the following items have turned up missing from the LSC rental dept. inventory. My name is David White. I was a technician at one of the biggest audio dealers in the business for 15 years. Over that time I have worked on equipment that belongs to most, if not all, of the location mixers in the industry. I have opened my own company, D.W. Sound Service. Although we specialize in service and repair of wireless and communications equipment, we also service Mixing Panels, Slates, Power Supplies, Amps, and most of the equipment that is a part of your sound packages. We will be expanding in the very near future to include Cable and Microphone repair. If there is any way that we might be of "service" to you, please give us a call at (661) 297-4090. Our c…

For you rechargeable lithium 9v users, be aware that there is a serious delivery problem for the new iPower 520mAh pro batteries to the US. We may see a delay as much as 3-4 months until we receive any new product to sell. To help counter this, we have ordered an extra quantity of the 500mAh version of the battery to tie us over. iPower assures us that the current version the the 500mAh is much improved from the original ipower and will be readily available while we wait on delivery of the 520mAh Pro. I will post again when they hit our shelves. Steve Joachim Sales Manager LSC (818)980-9891 x302

Reading the "Wet" thread, I thought that this new Rycote rain product might be of interest to the group. It is designed for more static applications than booming but, I am sure it could be adapted by closing the end somehow before mounting it on a pole. $130.00 retail. http://www.rycote.com/products/accessories/duck/ Steve J.

Hello everyone, I am planning a major rework of the user interface of Boom Recorder. How does one feel about me separating the tape transport, metadata and meter bridge into three windows. I want to do this, so I can make Boom Recorder into a video recorder as well. It would be more logical to have a meter bridge and a video window at the same time. But not everyone needs a meter bridge, not everyone needs a video window, and some need both. I've been talking to a producer about what is happening on the set with metadata. Especially interesting is that, on a low budget film at least, the script supervisor already is doing all the metadata reporting including wha…

Hello everyone! Just a quick note to let you know our new website has finally launched. The focus here is a streamlined approach to researching and ordering pro audio equipment online. I've implemented a couple cool features that I don't believe other companies offer - such as a custom boom kit configurator, an expendables configurator (just to speed up the whole process), an interactive photo gallery - which will be populated VERY soon with all of John Coffey's personal photos on set over the years - and a rental request form. Please note: we still have hundreds of items to add, some bugs to fix and several other tweaks which will happen over the next few weeks. But we'r…

Hi Take, Was using Boom Recorder today and had something come up that I would love to see changed. We had real confusion with the scripty today and the scene numbers weren't being called out correctly. I kept having to adjust, sometimes in mid-take. One time (not exactly sure what the sequence of events was) I ended up entering a duplicate scene and take number. When I stopped recording, BR correctly informed me that the file already existed, and that the recording was being aborted, resulting in a lost take. Would it be possible in that situation to prompt the user to rename the file rather than just abort the recording? BTW, I love the feature where you ren…

we just added some new mics in rental, from HEIL sound. Very nice sounding dynamic mics for sound effects (gun fire, race car engines, tanks, etc) voice over work, broadcast radio etc. there is the PR-20 for Vocals or instruments. (think SM58, but much cleaner) the PR-30 (think EV RE-20) then the PR-40 (similiar to U87) for a fraction of the cost. got a rental back yesterday from a fellow who was using them to mic M-16's and an assortment of assault rifles and guns. he loved the mics sound and they handled the high spl from a few feet away. if you ever need to record any gunfire and dont want to damage your thousand dollor mics, try the heil mics out. the pri…

This Board has been established for any and all individuals who, by reason of affiliation or ownership of companies, have encountered difficulties posting to discussion groups and Usenet newsgroups. It is open as well to any and all of those individuals who have NOT had difficulties but would like to post things here. This Board is open to all postings of any kind, either under the banner of a company (an equipment manufacturer, a dealer, a rental house) or as an individual who may be associated with a company. The only restriction I will mention at the outset is that this is not the place for companies to use for free advertising as would be appropriate on a company run …

Hello everyone, I have been working a little bit on the new version of Boom Recorder. Someone who uses MADI had asked me for complete input and output routing and mixing. In this new version it is possible to assign one or more inputs for each channel, and attenuating each assignment separately. Setting the attenuation level is currently only possible using AppleScript. Currently attenuation can changed with increments of 1 dB, between 0 and 254 dB. Is this accurate enough for mixing? Cheers, Take

When do you think SD will come up with mirroring, is there a time frame? Is someone working on this? They make nice machines but they seem pretty impractical until you can mirror. Fishing for clues. Larry
