  1. LMb is wideband so can be multifunctional as IFB and regular TX
  2. Hey Crew, what do you do when units are missing end of day: you charge full replacement (I would!!) of the lost?David C
  3. Patrick we are talking IFB (interruptible fold back)...22 people behind the camera listening to the production audio.....
  4. "At around 8.5 times the price, the Nagra VI arguably sets the benchmark for eight-channel recorders (although it only has six analogue inputs), while the Sound Devices’ SD-788T (a shade under seven times the F8’s price) is a very popular alternative in the professional film and TV market. The Tascam HS-P82 (just under 4.5 times the F8’s price) forms a very attractive lower-cost option, but the closest direct competitor for the Zoom F8 is the Roland R88 — and even that costs almost exactly twice as much!" Nagra VI the benchmark??Yep I argue with that Hugh Robjohns....
  5. +1 to Matt and +1 to Jon (the kindest MD around)!!
  6. Yep he's the prez now.Proud of you Gordon, but sad to miss you at the IBC!!David C.
  7. Funny that this video 'turn's up' now!Fred Feast died in 1999 (IMDB)..By the way he shouts "running" when he start the recorder:what are the 'nowadays' calls?"ROLLING"!,"SOUND SPEED"! (Nagra style) or something new I'm not aware of...
  8. Jacques Sax : "This is something completely new for me, and I feel that something has been broken in our small world of professional audio. As far as I know, none of the manufacturers who have significantly contributed to the evolution of our domain has blocked the development of an idea/concept/product that would be beneficial for us all, through the use of patents. By breaking this tacit agreement, this company is closing a door on the world of sound and its wave of evolutions, and is rendering the world of audio impoverished." He has a point..It's a small, small world in pro sound mfg's..
  9. Yep! Where is Mikey?
  10. "Overall, I feel the 688 is what the 664 should have been in the first place." Yep! But what is it (the 688)?A mixer with record function,a mixer/recorder,a recorder with a mixer.....?Opinions on this vary...bigtime. I regard it a mixer/recorder,as I regard a 788 a recorder with mix functions.D
  11. Hey Richard, since Tanky took over not a lot has happened in their bodyback/receiver line...the products are still the same as say 8 years ago...
  12. Tom,I switched from 644 to 688/SL6 in august. In the 688/SL6 combo ON (also during lunch) all day (10 hours) I use 3 NP-1's batterywise.I guess you can power the 688 (single,no SL 6) with 2 NP-1's for a 10 hour day.Mixassist: was not to pleased with it when two (wired) actors where standing close to each other, and it tends to be a little 'late'(you miss part of the first word of the sentence because Mix assist has to 'open') Anyway this is the smallest (688/SL6 with 3 dual receivers) recorder/receiver bag I ever used ,and it has it all!Sold my Sonosax SX-ST 8 because this machine can do the same ,and more.(OK no eq...)Tom I think you should get one!Sold my 644 and got a really good price for it!!
  13. Vincent and this 'usual suspect' is what rental house in The Netherlands?I have two of the bigger (bodypack) Microns that are living in the 302 bag that are in 500 mHz: only use them very rarely, but they work fine/great!Sorry Alex:not the small ones, but I guess they work the same. For really small in daily use I switched to 'ultra small' and bought SMV's and SSM's (Lectro: in use with a 688 with SL 6 with 3 SRB's)GRTZ David C
  14. Brando do you use the latest version of LectroRM? Had the same problem using the RM on my new SSM's: latest version did the trick!
  15. Often a very good indicator of what?? there are a lot of ' low end' products around : so what's the worry? You as an able pro soundperson will have to explain to production why you are using high end soundequipment!! It is when 'the producers helpfull's cousin' comes in (to record the sound),and the Pro soundperson will become obsolete... Amen........
  16. "The polarity reversing adapter should take care of the problem." But will make your rig (KM 100,adapter,HM) a bit bigger...
  17. "I was wondering when someone would notice the power switch position. This has been corrected. Glenn" Good to know!Looked a bit strange.
  18. funny that in the photo the 'on/off'switch is on the 'off' side while the display is 'on'
  19. I'm with Mario: with my 688 in a outside scene with 2 TX (mix assist) and a boom ( not in the mixassist) with some backgroundnoise, mixassist tends to be a bit late (mixassist did not read the script....) Hear the rehearsal with mix assist on, and decide on that (if mix assist will work!) .In a 'realityshoot' my guess is it can help, but still it tends to be a bit 'late'...I bought the 688 not just for mixassist,(also for the SL-6) but if you want to check out this feature rent one!
  20. See above post. That's why I stick to SD!Great products and "beyond "support!!!
