  1. I sold my MKH70 after buying the CMIT.
  2. Very cool! I love the stories, too...
  3. To our sound family, who have supported us over the years... On October 4th, Rivers Prokopenko joined our family...
  4. If I can, I ditch the snake and record double system. I don't need to give them the files unless they encounter a problem... But, I feel, that not being tied to camera, gives me and the camera person more freedom to do what we do. Occasionally, though, I encounter a producer or a camera person, who prefers a snake. So, it is always in my kit.
  5. I'm with Henchman... It Happened to me. I spent nine months trying to get paid and would receive tiny payments and lies about payment schedules. I called lawyers and tried to file with the labor union. But, it is really tricky... the employment terms as an independent contractor, vs permanent employee. Anyway, nothing was working. I was texting the exec producer/director every day. It was horrible. Finally, I made an exhausted post on Facebook, just warning fellow mixers not to take jobs from the production company. It turns out he scammed a bunch of people. Word got out quickly, I guess, because within 24 hours I got a call saying the balance would be wired to me immediately, if I took his name off Facebook. I was paid, and deleted my post. It was a shocking, and pretty disheartening experience.
  6. Thank you, Larry! I will stop in sometime, after we wrap.
  7. I would love to do that! Been to the Lectro site... But trying to work this out and purchase something while I am on this job. Anyway, figuring it out on my own, but if he is around to advise, I am receptive...
  8. Also, which solution is best for working with multiple blocks?
  9. Larry, which would be better? The UFM 50 or 230?
  10. Thanks, Glenn... It appears to be connected. So, we will send the unit in next week. (I will include the Lav all the same.) Thanks all!
  11. Ok. Maybe I jumped the gun. Can anyone advise how to open this connector to check the wire?
  12. Jason, Thank you! We have always had great luck with what you do. My husband can check on it, as he is good with wiring, and we are in NM. It will be easier that way. But thank you so much for offering!!
  13. The lav was ordered new with the unit, specifically for it, from ProSound. It is a B6.... So, it seems very strange, to me, that the lav would be creating the range issue. Anyway, I have contacted Zaxcom...
  14. Absolutely, Vin. Though, I really value 'field testing' results. Mother's tend to love their children. But, a message to Zax is being composed now...
  15. Thank you, Jeff. I suppose I never considered there could be a problem with the unit. I will write Zaxcom.
  16. I also should add, because I know it is a big point that you can pull the card from the transmitter when you get interference, etc. And that is great. But on jobs where we are doing bag work, there isn't much time to be pulling that card and integrating it with the recorder files. I think it is a great backup, and great for certain applications. But if range is consistently bad, it is not a great solution.
  17. I can't speak to the Maxx, but I have skepticism around this constant fear of quality equipment breaking. I use my Fusion for everything... Dust storms, 110°+ heat, snow, below freezing temps, etc, etc, and have never had a problem. This same fear surrounds the CMIT, which has done the same for me, and recently has been out to gunshot tests and passed with flying colors. I trust Zaxcom products. I have never heard of one overheating... But have heard the same from SD. I don't even know how my touch screen is still working (it looks so used, and yes I plan to send it in soon for a good cleaning and maintenance upgrade)... Yet, the 664 is having some pretty easy breaks. So, I have not tested the Maxx... But I wouldn't hesitate to buy one for any if my needs with bag work. And I am sure my jobs fall within 90% of of bag jobs. My disappointment with Zaxcom and bag work is the range on my wireless. I made the mistake of buying the RX900 instead of the QRX900 system. Not sure how much difference there is. But, my Zaxcom is hard to use in anything beyond sit down interviews and scenes where my cart is very close. This makes bag work very hard. It would be great if I could buy four + units and do a config like Rado... But that just isn't feasible right now. So, the default when adding bits and pieces is to go to Lectro. Which upsets me. I would love to be piecing together a complete Zaxcom system. Thank you for posting this, Jeff. U will read it and see if I am overlooking some solutions.
  18. Josh Neil is on Facebook, in the sound forums. He moved from NYC to Portland... And he's a great guy.
  19. I know this is an old topic, and I am veering from the additional content of it... But, I love seeing this post. So few people on this forum talk about the Fusion. So I will add a voice saying, the Fusion is a dream! I bought it when the Nomad was a rumor no one knew anything about, and the 788t was pretty new. We switched from SD TO Zaxcom with this recorder... I guess 2010. I still love it. And, it is a little sad to me that it isn't really a focus anymore. So... I'm looking forward to adding a Nomad for the reality stuff when carrying lighter weight gear is useful... And hoping/suspecting the Deva will be the next thing to dazzle us. And, certainly looking forward to see what that is like. But, I can say... The Fusion was and still is (running strong) my first love.
  20. Thanks, Jack... Good news.
  21. I own a Fusion and love it so much, I use it for reality and ENG style shoots, despite its size... But, I really can't wait to get a Nomad. I have to say, though... I miss the SD gain knobs. I find it a bit more cumbersome to go into my menu when I am doing on the fly documentary, reality, etc. It certainly isn't a deal breaker to me, but it is something I frequently comment on to my husband. I also agree with the instruction manual. The YouTube videos are helpful. But, not reference-able. Zaxcom products have so many unique features. I feel that as someone who transitioned from SD, and is trying to branch from lectros, though the cross over to using the Zaxcom products on a basic level, is easy... It takes some time to really understand the finer details/features.
  22. Wow. What am awesome thread. It is so interesting to see the people I look up to, here, looking for answers from their mentor. What an amazing lineage we younger mixers get to follow through this site. I am constantly feeling gratitude for this resource and this community.
  23. Thanks, Eric. I should have read it again, more closely.
