  1. Something changed. Could be an OS update, plugin update, or something else along those lines. Try uninstalling and reinstalling pro tools first. If anything if you do regular back ups go back a couple weeks and see if that fixes it. And of course there is the secret handshake that only the manufacturer knows about.
  2. You can never have to many mics to choose from. Buy both and you can save around $300 if you buy the 416 used.
  3. I like what I have seen of this camera so far. Can't wait to see one in person.
  4. Before You start all of this what MBP do you have, how much ram is in it and how big is the main hard drive. You can install a boot camp on a second drive without jumping through hoops you might not realistically have enough space to give the partition, MBP are not known for their gaming optimized graphics cards, and if you don't have at least 16 gigs of ram running a VM for gaming is going to choke out in a heart beat with any of the newer games. Edit: P.S. When he discovers STEAM I can guarantee if he wasn't a serious gamer before he will be.
  5. Call the the usual suspects, Gotham sound, Pro-sound, Trew Audio, locations sound corp etc. and talk to a rep. They will help you decide what is best FOR YOU. Once you get into the pro level the quality is all there the only differences are workflow really. P.S. I used a tascam dr-680 for a long time and it actually doesn't sound all that bad so don't blame the gear.
  6. So many options! Original is great because of BNC and built like a brick. Q28 great because of lemo and size. QL great for size and reduced cost because of no lemo? Any way looking to possably get Q28 to go with my Tig in the future when I start needing more timecode.
  7. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzYb68qXpD0 When I saw this I thought two things. 1. Less painful to take those gigs that are farther out of town. 2. How the F*&% would you rig this thing for a car scene.
  8. Two Great bag lines that Cover most peoples needs and priorities. I have the stingray myself and I love all of the storage. I rarely have to go bag to get gear.
  9. This has no basis whatsoever, but I think Glen has something cooking in his evil layer that May interest you in the near future.

  11. an interesting item that I discovered today. http://vimeo.com/108641197
  12. Using the orca waist belt and I love it.
  13. If he added indicators that could represent pitch then it could be more useful when trying to match an inflection or when replacing a word at the end of a sentence with another that is from the middle of a sentence. I wonder what the thoughts of mr. Purcell would be concerning this development?
  14. I know that quick books and sage can utilize bar code scanners.
  15. Its a clip on tuner. It reads the vibrations through the neck to tell what the note is as compared to a microphone.
  16. Or just buy this http://blog.sony.com/press/sony-unveils-new-pxw-fs7-compact-4k-xdcam-camera-with-a-super-35-cmos-sensor/
  17. Sticking to rx3 adv, don't get enough paying post work to warrant the upgrade. Would love to hear how the round trip feature work with PT 11 though.
  18. http://nofilmschool.com/2014/09/video-will-remind-you-why-we-love-movies There is a list of where the quote come from a little further down.
  19. Thanks for the updates. Hope these come out when I have enough cash on hand.
  20. Stems are fine. I actually provide stems all the time and with Pro tools offline bounce it does not take that long to record them anymore. Yep. It's like asking an editor for the XML file. The only time I send a OMF or pro tools file is when I did the Dx editing and am handing that of to the re-recording mixer.
  21. Never give an OMF, AAF or project files to the client unless they explicitly say they need it and they pay for it. The reason is because they could take those files, edit them a little and cut you out of the credits. If they want those files they pay extra or if you are doing the work pro bono never since all that you are getting are credits. A stereo, 5.1 or whatever format they decide for deliverables is fine and having an omf does not help render out a better sounding product. But it gives the client plenty of chances to screw up all you hard work and now your name is attached to a crappy sounding project that you did not get paid for. Check out Gearslutz in the post production area. This topic has been brought up many times before.
