  1. Plus, I would assume, that the new VHF IFB units would have some sort of Pilot Tone detection that the old 187 units would not provide.
  2. I don't use that particular cell, but many are using Lithium Ion NP-1s of some sort. IDX, Switronix and VariZoom seem to be some of the most popular.

  5. This one is simple. After a hard media error like this, QuickBoot can prevent the 633 from completely shutting down. Press/hold the menu button for seven seconds. This will defeat QuickBoot and completely shut down the 633. That's why the machine booted the next day, QuickBoot timed out after 2 hours (the equivalent of the menu button press/hold)
  6. If anything, things have gotten worse. If you are inside, you can probably get away with any block. If you are outside, the RF is really strong since you are blocks from the major TV transmitter site in the city (John Hancock building and Sears Tower). Not sure if this link will work, if not, just go to the site and use the "Check your address for free TV" link http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=29&q=id%3d8e033b97601d8d Based on this chart, looks like, without doing the math and looking up block frequency ranges, you can find clear air in blocks 19, 20, 23 and 25.
  7. Sound Devices generally does not speak on other manufacturers products or their threads, but I wanted to step in here to clear this up. The 633 was released Nov 19, 2013. Firmware 1.01 was released approximately 2 weeks later on 12/3/13. Firmware 1.03 was released 8 weeks after that on 2/28/14. Firmware 1.04 was released February of this year and is the current release.
  8. Yep, Google Calendar as well. I have an account, my wife has a second account, whatever she puts on her calendar can show through to mine. She can see all my jobs as I put them on my calendar as well. I don't think there is a Google Calendar app for iPhone, but there are some third party ones.
  9. Correct, that time code mode does the work of the GPIO/Relay. Probably a better question for Charlie Parra at Denecke Yes, the time code circuit is identical on the 6 and 7 Series boxes.
  10. The 664 has a time code mode that mutes the time code output when not in record:

  12. 6 Series recorders have a 2 hour shut down timeout, IIRC all 7 Series recorders are 4 hours.
  13. Aaton covers this situation in their manual. They have supplied a circuit drawing that will connect the Cantar X2 Record Tally circuit with the 788T Logic Input (GPIO). When the Cantar enters record, with the proper settings in 788T menu 93. Keyboard/Logic In: Assign, the 788T will drop in to record at the same time. I would suggest talking with your Aaton reseller to see if they can make the cable for you.
  14. Is the 12V phantom LED illuminated on the input side of the MixPreD?
  15. Those come with the 6 Series recorders from the factory.
  16. So sad to hear this. I had been following the random updates we got on his Facebook account, he fought long and hard. RIP Steve.
  17. The bigger issue, literally, is that the Sony slot receivers are 3.5" wide while the Panasonic slot is only 2.68" wide.
  18. As noted above, the SoundDev folder is for setup files and other machine info. The most likely problem is that you didn't tell the 788T where the file is you wanted to play. Put the file in the root directory of the CF. The press the HDD button twice to get to the file browser. Navigate to the file and press play.
  19. No, in 24Hr Run, the 788T will only re-jam to its TOD clock if the generator has reset after a 4 hour shutdown.
  20. Tom, Sorry, late to the party. I'd be interested to know what all the different components of your calculation represent. 525 is obviously lines in the NTSC raster, but not sure what the rest would be. Thanks,
  21. Lee, This is a pretty large subject to be covered in a bunch of forum messages. This is a good place to start for some basics: http://www.philrees.co.uk/articles/timecode.htm
  22. "2x XLR input on monitor unit, 3.5mm input on Camera Body" No mention of AES inputs. Not sure if Channels 3/4 are going to be really useable for anything but a camera mic.
  23. Not a full-time employee, but a long-time consultant. They like me because I work nights and weekends -- typical freelancer.
  24. Hmmm, check your Timecode mode in menu -14, make sure it isn't set to "Replace Right"
