  1. I'm sitting here trying to figure out why the newish Hollyland and DJI wireless systems provide both recording and transmitting simultaneously, while our wireless systems that cost thousands more are still held back by a 'Zaxcom patent'. Is it because they operate on the 2.4ghz spectrum? Zaxcom becoming lenient with lawsuits? DJI and Hollyland willing to fight off lawsuits to take market share? Don't see a ton of info on this so any thoughts are appreciated. From a biz perspective, wouldn't it be smarter for the pro level comapnies we use to provide more low cost prosumer options to keep market share? I have been hearing from too many producers and cam ops about these devices to not take notice.
  2. Great to know y’all thanks - trying to mix my G3s with Lectro R1As
  3. Great thread y’all. I was looking at picking up some additional Senn txs as well so it’s great to hear what you like and don’t like. Now I’m really scared to run into this Cinetape monster!
  4. this is really good to know - thanks for sharing! awesome insight!
  5. I do a lottt of non Union work but would like to start branching out! My question is : can you still utilize healthcare once you are in and paying dues? Or do you have to meet requirements to use healthcare perks? Thanks!
  6. I am noticing a range difference between the two. W Betso bow ties and 40S / 41S side by side the range is less on the 41S. When inside a car against talents back I can still pick up the 40 but not the 41.
  7. Thanks for the replies guys! Still haven’t been able to find any info on how these babies perform in real life! Was hoping Raycom would do a walk test.
  8. Hi all! Happy 2023! I am curious if anyone has any experience using the Lectrosonics DSR4 and how it compares to SRC / 411 performance or Wisycom MCR54 performance? I have been wanting to pickup some Wisy's for the range and BT functions, but would be curious to hear thoughts here first!
  9. also keen to learn more about field observations as i'm about to buy some of these. used an MCR54 w MTP40s and absolutely loved it
  10. Does anyone have experience with the 941 band in Europe?
  11. Slightly unrelated question, but still related to PSC Multi, What are y'alls opinions on using the 470-~800 Mhz version versus the 470-618, 940 version? I'm concerned about overloading the multi with cell signals in the higher frequency bands that aren't filtered out. I know I can use filters, and my antennas will cut off around 700mhz, but I'm just curious in general would that be an issue? PSC seems to think it shouldn't be, but just wanted to see if anyone has run into an issue with this and do you think it is better to go with the new dual band version? (I like the full range version in case I need to shoot in Europe (obvs it will be a while with the current state of things) ) Thanks! Nathan
  12. I agree with this. The only real reason in my head for the slot design is to double a a hop on camera, but with the DCHT etc that’s less of a need. But RF performance and range are the biggest issues in my everyday work life as well. Which is why I’m considering running a DSQD
  13. Yes I use the Zaxcom ERX rig at 2.4ghz with an ifb100 (which outputs at 125mw) and the range is very limited when outdoors or going through walls. Decent if in a big room because the signal can bounce. I just bought. Lectro kit for this same reason BUT wow so awesome to hear your tuning Sonny g3s to your IFB w success! Are there any settings oh have to change on the G3 Rx or IFB Tx? I’d love to incorporate this. I went with Zax because of the dual functionality - but the range is really not worth it and only makes me anxious about whether or not it’s working... lol. +1 for the audio scratch via Betso!
  14. The Duplex Gap is actually in Block 25, not 24. So you should be fine keeping the IFB in that range. The only sketchy thing is the power output, but I dunno how they will enforce the 20mw rule?
  15. How did you deal with Meta data at this point? Just take 1,2,3 ... or did you and the AC still figure out a system regardless of the slate? This happened to me the other day and I was like hmm okay so well just wing it.
  16. agreed, when I use my TRX900 w STA100 for hops in BLK20 I get a layer of interference on my BLK 22 lectro RXs... weird.
  17. very nice. yes, good to know don't be throwin' out freebies to start! To this point: YES. They have discontinued this product. I recently emailed Timecode Systems about some compatibility stuff, and they disclosed that there is limited stock remaining. I then emailed Denecke to see if they are working on anything new in the near future before I go with a Betso system, but they have yet to respond... what do you guys think about the Betso system? not as $$$ as Ambient, not as cheap as TCS, but very innovative and functional it seems. ah yes, I have a lot of experience in the 550-650range, but haven't done any commercial 700-800$ gigs yet, so I wouldn't even know to charge that. I assume that's excluding gear, but are you using a cart setup on those shoots or it just depends? As far as reality, yes I know a couple companies who charge that and won't budge on the rate...
  18. good to know! Thanks for the input. Yeah maybe round down for the package rate or something. And i like your logic with the weekly deals over 3 weeks. Will definitely start incorporating some of this. I was doing a 250 base, but recently had a crew come in offering 300 and I was like... hmm YES! What are you guys in NYC normally charging for labor? 650/12hr?
  19. - Ah see I charge 50$ a day per thing for everything BUT timecode boxes, most of clients I think expect that to be included... I even had a producer complain to me about another mixer who charged a la carte for the slate. (this was a corporate gig) She thought it should be included, but not everyone wants a slate so you could lose a gig if your standard gear rate is too high because of all these included goodies. I prefer a la carte as well. And overall, I'm in the ballpark I think. Thanks for the input! Yeah sometimes people expect stuff to be included... but I try to charge a la carte as much as possible to keep things organized. What kinda of stuff do you include in your rate and ~ what does that make your standard kit rate? Of course I would never undercut people to steal clients - I'm in the business of getting paid! I networked with some locals and actually helped them get paid more by telling about the a la carte (not all in) fee system.

    Zoom F8n.

^^ Having those bells and whistles would be nice, but I find I'm almost never using any of that stuff, and don't have many issues changing batteries or booting quickly, and rarely am I recording over 48khz (plus I have the zoom for that if needed)... Tho the automix would be really nice, and allows you to not have to pot down people left and right. I guess just try it and see right! haha.
