  1. Use an IFB200, or an IFB-optioned QRX.
  2. True, you cannot charge the L-mounts with the Hirose. Looping the l-mount battery power back out the Hirose would be a custom mod, and would probably void your warranty.
  3. For water resistance, I use an aquapac. Handled a surfing doco quite well, with the talent paddling out on their boards and sitting on them. Used a floaty backpack from a gopro to make sure it stayed high on the water should it come off.
  4. Maybe buy an MKH40 to keep it company, otherwise the frequency response may droop - otherwise known as microphone derpression.
  5. I did the same thing, with my MKH30/8040 MS combo.
  6. Nah, I'm with you there... Most other manufacturers have a menu system that works as well and looks pleasing to the eye. It shouldn't matter. But it does.
  7. I use a MKH30 with a MKH8040 on top of it. Mounted in a customised Rode Blimp.
  8. Agreed. I was not aware of problems regardless of TC manufacturer, I've not had an issue with jamming the Epic, in any of it's incarnations. But there you go.
  9. Why does the ERX have trouble with Epic Dragon, and not Ambient, or Denecke boxes?
  10. Hahaha. Sorry OP. Also, bravo Crew, that is a glorious one-liner.
  11. Something something archer something arrows. OH GOD IT'S HAPPENING
  12. That would be 'tracking', (what I think OP is talking about when he says 'only hands in ISOs') where they intend to pick the best mic in post, or do what happens most of the time and smoosh all the channels together into a phase-y, weirdly panned mess.
  13. Below clipping. Depends on who/what you're recording. ISO's are generally recorded at a level LOWER than your mix. I do a mono mix, usually. If you're doing a 2-channel mix (not stereo!) maybe boom - left(1), lavs - right(2), or split by characters/dialouge, or alternating input channels, or something else. Depends on your destination/client/project type etc.
  14. Knobs on Zaxcom devices have always been like that (in reference to Zaxnet, at least). Interestingly, the first fader on the FP8 is numbered 11 internally, meaning they are counting the 6 hardware faders on the Nomad, and 4 Virtual faders...which I was assuming this box would have the ability to replace.
  15. From experience, BTY make some of the crappiest batteries ever.
  16. I got an email from Zaxcom today specifically about the FP8.
  17. I find the subject REALLY interesting, but the stereo pan on the two mics, the wind rumble and the scratching/sniffling drove me nuts.
  18. A 4080 or 4081? And it works? Sometimes even <hat> is wrong, it seems...
  19. I asked DPA at NAB this year, they said no.
  20. The BDS has a polyfuse installed to prevent such an event. It should shut the outputs off in an overload condition. The only way I've ever done that was through a direct short in a poorly manufactured cable...
  21. I used to use Epoxy, but I now use hot glue and caps, as it's easier to remove in case of a re-wire.
  22. Batteries. (There are many responses to this...question?)
  23. Yep, same thing happened to my 744T. Got the contacts cleaned, worked well for another 2+ years. Then replaced the button panel (silicon sheet with all buttons) and hasn't skipped a beat since.
  24. The restack in Melbourne has already happened (Mar-2014 according to the chart)....So, how's B24?
