  1. Confirming the same issue here. I have a hard wired earlier model 4063 (L02304) that is RF interference free, but the newer model (L06663) w/ DPA microdot to Lemo adapter...not so much. I already sent one back (L06450) to the UK that sounded so bad I thought it was a defective capsule and they replaced with L06663, but this one's still having issues with my TRX900s. What's even stranger is that the interference is worse on my LANC vs. LA. I could cut down on the interference on the LA by taping down the excess mic cable slack opposite from the pack, but the LANC had much higher RF interference in the same RF environment. My LANC was sent in for another issue so I'll be following the developments and hoping that DPA solves this soon.
  2. Saturday: it's going to be a longish day (12hrs). 7.30pm-12pm: this is the KEY sequence. We're basically going out on the town with four girls, and filming them guerrilla at different places, ending up at a dance party. It's going to be super improvised, so I'd like all four to be mic'd, and then boomed (where possible). We'll probably need a total of six wireless mics, plus some plants. I think it could be really awesome from a sound point of view - but know that you're a bit light on equipment at the moment. We could try and get our hands on some more wireless stuff. Our rate will be the same - $250 for the day My answer will be the same: no-ish
  3. There is also a proposed trickle charge for using the urinals, I bet!
  4. Nice- how do you plan to power everything?
  5. Who wants to be the first to take apart their Nomad and spray it down so they can have the world's first NeverWet NeverClip?
  6. Are your headphones routed to a card bus that has the slate mic active?
  7. Locking Thunderbolt connections and expansion modules would scream 'Pro' but instead we get this:
  8. Glenn said that shaving the protectors would not void the warranty, but he hasn't weighed in on soldering components of the ERX. If he gives his blessing, that's a great DIY fix.
  9. Didn't think it through and you are right, my original post has been edited. I switched to Powerex as well, but the v1 ERX reverse polarity protectors that are too thick. I shaved mine down quite a bit to accomodate my Eneloops, but they still don't work with my Powerex. Peace of mind is a wonderful thing...
  10. I never thought to do this, Great tip! I took a trip to the dollar store and found a 2-pack of Blackberry pouches that I retrofitted with a bogo tie that works nicely when looped around a belt buckle for only a buck.
  11. +1 Get rid of the pot or at least have a button press combo to lock the trim. Something like holding down the up/down buttons for a 3 count. When I use it as a hop, that knob is bumped in between set ups once a day without fail. Another great feature would be a low battery warning with the LED flashing red when levels are below 20%. I hate seeing a dead ERX on camera and don't always have the luxury of walking up to camera to check battery levels.
  12. Luckily I converted my car to run on tuna sandwiches and internet residuals.
  13. I used an OST-801 wired for G3 and for the money, you get a lot.. Exposed on a vamp clipped onto a tie it was much too sibilant for my taste, but it performed fairly well when hidden. The capsule is flat like a tram, but is slightly too big to button hole on dress shirts. Also, not sure if it is just mine, but the sleeve to the 1/8 connector is extremely loose and I can see down to the wiring. I don't think there is any strain relief to the solder, which is bothersome. It kicks the crap out of the ME-2, but most things do.
  14. I ask the director what he prefers, but I always deliver mono ISO tracks for boom and lavs. It depends on the ambient environment- if it sounds ugly, I back off on boom in the mix before feeding it out to the director. For my taste, I cringe when I hear network shows go with lavs and then crush the low end in post instead of going with overhead mic'ing to begin with. It sounds too present and takes me out of the story. I like perspective, so when I mix I use lavs sparingly to complement the boom and environment but I always deliver pre-fade lav tracks just in case producers with poor taste want to make the decision to make it sound not-so-good in post.
  15. Thought I would share what I did to get my rechargeables working with my early model ERX1TCDs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bH-xx8MtLkY&feature=youtube_gdata_player
  16. No word on this topic. I'm in the market for a Denecke but don't want to buy one that can't be upgraded. Zaxnet + Denecke would be the bomb.
  17. Great news, also hoping the next firmware will allow the scene take option in file naming. Nomad's the bees knees! Don't think I can go back to another set up after getting a taste of neverclip and Zaxnet. Are you using the 900LT or the 900LTH? I have an LT and thought there wasn't a PowerRoll feature. Also, is it possible to send the 900LT into record or playback via Zaxnet on Nomad yet?
  18. 1. Minor annoyance, would be nice to have an option to auto-jam date on a reboot. 2. I would love it if 'PU' were recognized as pick up take so when a user +1 advances Nomad changes the take to 'PU2' rather than 'PV' Additionally, when you bloop time code I would like the option for Nomad to flash a frame of scene-take info after the time code freezes.
  19. Seconded on everything Rado said - only thing I tweaked was the attack and release of the card limiter to 4ms.
  20. http://www.zaxcom.com/forum/showthread.php?16570-Nomad - Nomad firmware Also, I'm pretty sure you can't change the name of the mirror card.
  21. I haven't experienced this, but I have heard the same thing. This problem was fixed in the current release build (V3.2.16) of the firmware that dropped last night. I haven't tested yet, but this release build also has limiter and gain controls in camera, so you'll be able to back it off if you don't want to completely disable it. I wish the meter displays had a hash mark for 0dBu or some sort of indication of what the values on the 'goal posts' were. I set my levels to the right post and haven't had any complaints. V3.2.16
