" At IBC2007, Sennheiser featured its new EM 3732 twin wireless receiver with 90MHz switching bandwidth. Features include high-quality audio performance, numerous connection options, scanning function and transmitter synchronization via infrared interface. The receiver has six user-selectable fixed frequency banks and one user bank with up to 60 channels that can be programmed in increments of 5kHz. The EM 3732 automatically searches for free frequencies within frequency banks. Using the EM 3732’s infrared interface allows the device to program the SKM 5200, SK 5212 and SKP 3000 transmitters with receiver data in minimum time. The level of the receiver's a…

Does anyone have any info relating to the older Sennheiser mics, stuff like the 805T and 415T? Google pretty much throws a blank. I did get hold of an 805T service manual, but it was about spares/repairs rather than what I am specifically looking for which is the usual frequency response and mv/Pa measurements etc. Are these still considered "reasonable" mics? Or would their age imply that, even when new, they'd be a whole lot noisier and colder than their more modern day equivilents? Just wondering out loud ....

Was wondering if FORREST FORBES still does mods on the Mackie ONYX mixers. Found a post on R.A.M.P.S that said he used to. Also see that he is with Coffey Sound now.

I currently have the Microtrack as my transcript recorder, which works fine as long as I am stationary and plugged into AC power. It sucks for on the run transcripts because of battery life. I use on of theose energizer cell phone chargers to continuiously supply power on the run, but when In record pause for a lengthy period of time It went into charge mode and I lost a recording in the process of moving locations. I looked at the Edirol R-09. Interal AA batteries are the best for ENG bag work, but the unit seems very fragile for the rigors of bag work. I see here some have mentioned the line in jack breaking !! Can this unit stand up to field bag work ? The Zo…

Since it would seem that Lectro doesn't make a battery eliminator door for the LM transmitters, has anyone here had luck with drilling there own hole in the bottom of the standard battery door ? I can't be the only one who wants to power there IFB tx, from a "BDS" of other similar dc distro system.

I can count on one hand the number of times I've been able to convince a client on the merits of Tri-Level Sync.... today, in comes a client who cares ! We are working with a pair of newer Panasonic P2 "500s" and I won't have access to them beforethis due to my road schedule.... when the cams arrive, I'll be in transit.... we meet on "show day" ... (We are dealing with a two-hour stage performance) I just have one SBT box - In a hardwired, multi-cabled situation, would a mere split of the TC and Vid / outs work on a two camera project Has anyone tried this in the past ? Is there enough signal / poop to drive two sets of inputs ? Of course, we'll all b…

I notice that AT makes a fairly compact 2 channel RX that is designed as a camera hop. Has anyone tried this? I've never been happy with the sound of the AT mics I've heard (outside of music studios) but they seem well made. I just notice that they never come up in discussions around here or RAMPS. I just saw that there is someone selling boom poles they are calling "Bpoles" on eBay. The auction says its made by a mixer, and that they've already moved 90 units. I can't seem to find any info on them anywhere. Does anyone know who this is, and if there is anything special about them? A lurker on JWSound perhaps? Here's the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=008&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&viewitem=&item=180099760845&rd=1&rd=1

I have three pairs of HD25's and they are very tough with the stainless steel cable etc. except for one thing and thats the connection between the cable and the headphone capsule. I always end up with a problem with this, where the small flat 2 pin connector makes contact inside the headphone capsule. I've just taken one apart, and broke one of the very fine wires that goes to the driver unit:-( and there's a small silver spring mounted transversely that the prongs of the connector simply push in to. The spring has an arm on it and it can be pulled out but I can't really see why there should be a problem with making contact. Any one got any ideas or experience with fi…

A quick question. I'm looking for a cost effective RF Spectrum analyser - preferably with USB interface - so that I can quickly scan for the best spaces for a multiple radio mic (Lectro) setup. As I only use it once or twice a year I can't really see any sense in spending a huge amount - also, it's something I can't bill extra for. I know I can scan using the 411 units - but as I need to co-ordinate up to 4 recordists at each location - something more visual - and separate from the kits is of interest. Had a quick Google but the results were confusing. Thought someone out there might have found the right and brilliant thing. Thanks Chris B

I thought I'd get this off the "Berlin Cart" thread. Jeff--when you say that the power supply feeds the battery which then feeds the equipment, how are you connecting this? PSU to battery terminals, then batt terminals to DC distro on the cart? I want to try to hook my gear this way--I think I have all the "big" pieces already. thanks Philip Perkins

I saw this on the Coffee site and wondered: would anyone ever use this now? It's really only a 16 footer which my large poles handle just fine. What sort of projects might this be useful for? Has anyone on the group had experience with this equipment? Would you need your own union (read IA) dolly grip to move it around during setup or shots? How flexible would it be for a moving (or multiple) target? http://www.coffeysound.com/product.php?productid=753&cat=122&page=1 Just killin time.... Eric Lamontagne

This was touched on in the Rastorder sound cart thread and I want to explore it more. I currently have my laptop mounted on a Ram Tough Tray. http://65.102.174.116/rammount/productdetail.aspx?partnumber=RAM-234-3&searchTerm=ram2343&item=1 It has four mounting holes on the bottom, which I attached a plate, then a 5/8" receiver. A little more hardware and there you go...it's on the cart. The only problem is that it's a fixed mount. I have to remove it for travel and storage. I'd love a swing arm style with locking whatever... Let's see some laptop mounts that folks are using on their carts. Show and tell time... Thanks, ~PWP

Okay, I'm not intending this to be an oogle thread, but it just happens to be a picture that's easy on the eyes. First, there is a wireless pack there, even if you can't see it It looks like either a zaxcom or a sennheiser to me, but not owning either, I can't tell. Your thoughts? Also, the pack holder is pretty snazzy! Do you think it's a custom job? Tom

I saw some RF freq. analyzer pkgs for laptops for WiFI freqs. They were cool small units that plugged into a USB port. What I would love would be a similar kind of thing in the UHF bands we use, w/ software. I'm not sure how accurate it would have to be as long as the display made some kind of sense. The hardware analyzers I've seen are really too expensive for me, and I have to have the laptop along on location anyhow. Is there any such thing, and if not could this product be something that Lectro or Zax could be persuaded to make? Or is there a decent relatively inexpensive handheld analyzer that covers UHF that I've missed? Philip Perkins

I am going to work on a post sound for a film that was recorded on location with a DV824 on to DVD-RAM discs. What are the options & process for me transferring the audio to a computer? I do not have a DVD-RAM Drive, I have MAC G4 & MAC G5.

I'm looking at adding a short shotgun to my collection. Right now I have a couple Schoeps CMC 5's with MK41, MK4, and MK2 capsules, as well as a Senn MKH70 when the Schoeps get fritzy in the foggy SF night exteriors. Can anyone report about the CMIT 5u in humid environments? Does it suffer the same frailties of the CMC mics? Or is it a viable competitor for the dependability of an MKH60? (I'll also be curious how the DPA shotgun will fare in humid conditions) Jeff, you and Don have a CMIT in your bevy of mics, no? Thanks for any insights and experiences. Brian Copenhagen

Hey Everbody, I've got an old Anvil Case (slightly bigger and deeper than a briefcase) that I bought at a yard sale several years back. I'd like to use it again but the foam that was inside it pretty much disintegrated. I've pulled most of it out, but there is still some glue left on the wood and small foam pellets. Anyone have an idea how I can get the rest of this junk out? David

I am considering buying a Yamaha 01V96 and have a couple of questions about it. 1. Is anyone here using the 01V96 with Boom Recorder and if so, are you using the internal Yamaha mLAN internal Firewire interface card? 2. Rumor has it that someone is doing a conversion that allows you to run the 01V96 from external 12 VDC batteries? If so, do you know who is doing this mod and how much does it cost?

Anyone had any experience with Voice Technology mics? I'm interested in hearing about any thoughts, opinions, or experiences you've had with any of their models. How are they for hiding under clothing, durability, sound quality etc. Thanks! Bernie

hello, Just wondering what you guys use as far a pouches for your comteks go. Tried the standard clips that come with the 216 but a few drops later some of th comteks cracks on the body, tried the pouch with the plastic clip, hard to find and the clips only lasts a few jobs, love the pouch though, tried the bigger pouch with the belt loop through, but no belt clip, and that is it scriptys rarely have belts on it seams, also the flap covers the headphone jack and putts pressure on it. I know that the 72 had a pouch that had no flap and a metal "clip" is the a similar thing for the 216??? any suggestions?

Does this new release indicate the Mac Mini may live a little longer? http://www.apple.com/macmini/ BTW if one scrolls about half way down the page to the "Big Ideas" section there are links to mods and interesting uses of the Mini. Maybe a user here will post an unusual sound app. (I haven't incorporated a Mini on my cart yet.)
