  1. One thing - if you are monitoring on headphones, the room reverb will be more noticeable than when monitoring a speaker - maybe it's not as bad as you think. Just a randy Canadian opinion ( - ;
  2. Thank you, Phiip for putting it so well. I had the same impression, but couldn't draft a reply that didn't sound too negative.
  3. Looks like it works for bacteria, doesn't seem to mention viruses.
  4. My experience with SSM battery life matches Constantin’s
  5. The description says the unit works with 75kHz deviation , or is that a typo? I thought all transmitters with UHF analogue transmission were now 50 kHz deviation by law.
  6. Somehow it feels like better isolation with the HD 25s compared to the 7506s. I have been using HD25s for about 20 years now. Switched over initially because of the "more accurate to my ears" feeling when I first tried them, but the isolation is also very good. The only con being ear cartilage feeling a bit abused after a really long day, not as bad as with DT48s!
  7. Maybe the power bar and the orange cord, and of course the rugged switch box was code in it's day...
  8. The tip should be sort of a flat concave shape, maybe it's just the angle of the photo.
  9. Hello "Dognut44" You will be happy with the performance of UH400/411A combo. Just don't let the Lectro limiters go too deep, if you know what I mean. Your recorder, or mixer may have more sophisticated limiters. Companding artifacts are not really evident with the Lectro Digital Hybrid scheme. The way movies are made now, wireless boom is almost always a necessity, so a good, dependable wireless link in both audio and RF terms will help you. If there are 2 cameras, the sound dept should have 3 people - how big is the Camera Dept? All the best, Jim Rillie
  10. Hi Joppe, I will be interested in an 8 bay version of the new design. Very nice looking.
  11. Sounds like it is n Record Run, to me, and of course, as Johnny says TC in and Jam.
  12. Thanks for keeping us up on this, Brian. Following...
  13. I feel your pain, Johnny, But that,s the way it is.Flatheads have been on my shitlist forever, but they work with effort. I will live with it, works for me. Phillips head just as much grief. Hex or Robertson are my favs. Canuck here.
  14. Hearing the mix for a boom op is not unusual. The boom op can hear how their mic (the boom mic) fits in the dailies. Ideally, both options should be available to the sound crew, whatever they would rather listen to.
  15. Looks in principle like the RF Venue Diversity Fin, at maybe a bit cheaper. I have found my Lectro passive fins outperform the Diversity Fin range-wise by a bit in the same situation. Not a scientific test or provable, just a feeling.
  16. Not my experience. Eneloop Pro and Ladda compare very favourably, and the Ladda covering doesn't seem to crack as much at the edges as the Eneloop Pro. I also always use slow charge on all rechargeables.
  17. I am using an Option 7 Comtek PR 216. When properly placed on the VA cart, works fine. Same feed Mono mix as the Bourgeosie get. Playback OK for the users.
  18. I have an 8 bay Joppe made (I believe v. 2). Same as the left one in the picture above, except 8 bay version. Suits my needs very well and portability is definitely very good. I am only in the first few weeks of use, but I find it perfect for my needs, and at a reasonable price. Certainly 8 of the standard 1 bay Lectro-provided chargers have at least as big a foot print, more you include the awkward powering options for several at once. My vote is the 8 bay, minimal size larger than a six-bay version. Charging NP 50s in the charger is always much less time than it takes to discharge the in-use battery, at least in SSMs, so charge current as it is now is good, and I am always wary of shortening the eventual life of a rechargeable battery by pushing the limits to get a fast charge. 'Nuff said.
  19. My 8 slot version is working very well. Excellent design and manufacture. Thanks , Joppe
  20. Cinela Osix 2 for us. Never going back.
  21. If you leave one side of the KTek harness attached to the bag, it is much quicker to take on and off. Read that somewhere, and found that it works well that way.
  22. Yes Philip, that is what I normally suggest, but some clients want to have better than scratch tracks on camera files. Most of the work I do is straight double-system with no camera hop, but still run into the folks who want better than scratch on camera, (maybe less than once a year these days). Hard wiring will always work, but not great for human safety at times.
  23. Had a similar experience with high end Sony digital hop. Frequency OKd by Freq finder. The Sony hops don't play well with Lectro, and the DP said he had had the same effect before with other sound guys. We went hard wire and range for the Lectros was back to their normal performance. This was on a doc style shoot, so couldn't get the Sony transmitter far enough away from my bag. You might have better results if working off a cart, and wiring a good distance (10 feet or so away) to the transmitters stands or something like that. Not sure, but maybe.
  24. Hmm. We don’t use the Maxi much any more, but never had this (90s) pole creak. EditOops sorry ( meant Super Maxi) I have 3 Maxis which we love using, with no creaking issues, but we do clean at times. Ian’s recommendation of cleaning is always useful with any pole. And of course checking tightness of all joints involving different materials.
