  1. Except Nagra and Aaton always have it reversed Red for left, Green for right. Some sort of esoteric colour code designed to drive us all nuts! LOL. Edit <Oh, just noticed in another thread about the nautical reference. Makes some kind of sense.>
  2. Messrs Annymoh and Sy, Did you try setting the receiver on new NU 50 kHz deviation? A receiver expecting 75 kHz standards would output lower audio levels I believe.
  3. Used CMIT if you can find one close to your budget. You won't be dissappointed.
  4. Joppe, you are an inspiration to us all wth your dedication to your LP50 charger project.
  5. Congratulations, Christian. A great learning experience for us all..
  6. I think all Zaxcom recorders record to a file type known as MARF? I'm sure someone will chime in soon with details on how to use them.
  7. Thanks, Jeff. All seems good now. We really have a true sound person administrator. Yay for us! Best regards Jim Rillie Halifax, NS
  8. I have 2, but they are mic level and very handy at times. The line level looks like something that would also be a solution to some situations.
  9. AFMY, That Imp looks customized. Did you convert to line level, or is it just a different model. The white print interests me...
  10. Check your JW sound messages.
  11. I have noticed this also (for years). It happens , but not necessarily on all receivers. It is the receivers, because it doesn’t matter what type of tx I am using. I have BSTs and M216s. It,s just something we have learned to live with, like letting your crew know when turning on or off phantom, or plugging in a mic with live channel for some reason. It’s common but really should have been taken care of by the manufacturer years ago. Maybe it’s prohibitively expensive. We just work around it. We don’t “love Comteks” that much, but they sure are useful.
  12. Time Code Slates are the backup on most stuff I do, when sync really matters
  13. Funny you should mention that, Philip I had the same experience with one boom op I had in Ireland on Random Passage. Noel Quinn was the boom op, and he was very skilled with the 82, sometimes hiding in costume in a crowd and pulling in the dialogue right in shot, but basically invisible to camera. He used it a lot even indoors with good results. Not as heavy as an 816! Back to Theannymoh, I still have 2 KMR82is in good shape with Rycotes, windjammers, suspension etc. If you are interested I can let you hav e one or both at a very good price. We just don't use them for the type of shows we do these days. Regards, Jim Rillie
  14. Thanks, Johnny That's what I guessed, and no audio needed.
  15. Starting a project using Alexa LF cameras. Anything unusual about the Time Code connection, or is it just the usual 5 pin Lemo? I looked at Arri's website and only came across the usual sales info, but nothing specific about TC connections. Best Jim Rillie
  16. I have been using the same process for ages with Deneckes and Tentacles. Also, no need to re-jam when coming back to real time after high speed shooting.
  17. Not sure, but would this cable still pass Phantom power to the mic, or is it blocked in the filter?
  18. Boom is best unless the baby is enraptured by it. Find a way to be out of the baby's sight. If it must be wires, maybe a hair mount would help.
  19. AFAIK, you can completely disassemble VDB poles for cleaning, etc. I have an older one (80s version) which I have had apart to replace sections, cleaning, etc.and a newer QT type, which I haven't had to disassemble yet, but I'm sure it can be taken apart. Maybe if you did this, you could find the culprit. Look carefully for grit and tiny hairline cracks, which would mean time to order a new section. Often times taking something apart and putting it back together again solves small mysteries...
  20. The Panamic Maxi has been our most used boom for drama for more than 30 years.
  21. rule no. 1 for me: Never go to the Facebook venues until JWSound Discussion Group has been viewed. Agreed Philip Perkins - search is abominable on Facebook groups - YayJWS
