  1. Sounds like you have to develop a deep personal relationship with Zaxcom as you will be sending it home for maintenance. This is the main reason I have not ventured down the Zax road as sending things back from Australia is expensive of dollars and time.
  2. Only available for USA at the moment...... CURSES!!!
  3. Apart from the price of the Lectro RATPACK I have found them great. As far as the set screws go, nothing a drop off nail polish won't hold.

  5. View from my cart.. in a studio with closed doors and a messy camel...
  6. Hi Chris Despite using charm by the spadeful, this supervisor dug his heels in and didn't care if we were close to missing our flight. Might have been handy to have had this app? https://dangerousgoodsapp.casa.gov.au
  7. We were heavily delayed by a security supervisor who insisted we needed a letter of authorisation from the airline specifically that they would carry the lithium batteries ( in cabin ). This was started by the checking officers not being sure about the drone batteries, but it escalated to include my 96WHr sV-Lock batteries as well....... I will ask production office to hunt down a letter of authority from the airline we are using when they send me OS next, just in case..
  8. I think I can see the reason for odd sound with this one...... his lav mic's broken free and fallen down to his crotch....
  9. Maybe "model specific inserts" fitting into larger common holes??
  10. If you have an hour free to learn how essential beer is........
  11. We had a traveling Kubrick exhibition in Melbourne a few years back, full of props and memorobilia, and a great mock up of the Moloko Milk Bar from A Clockwork Orange... There was a cabinet full of lenses and camera owned by SK. There was British Cinematographer on a video explaining the significance of each lens and camera. I think the NASA lens was in the case. A teriffic show.
  12. Looks good, similar concept to my Hawkwood system, but at a better price. ( Hawkwood is about AUS$370 before shipping... )
  13. No David, I use the VL-CA2 http://www.hawkwoods.co.uk/Prods/Product/VL-CA2 Keeps my SRb (with a BATSLED) able to ride on any camera I have met up with yet.
  14. What's the story with the articulated far boom? For recording around corners???
  15. Depending on what output plate you have on your receiver you may have to factor in the Sony D plate purchase to interface with the ambient slot. I use a Hawkwood interplate that allows me to have my SRb with Batsled ride on it all the time so I can throw it on a non V-Lock cam with a cheese plate. The Ambient looks bigger and heavier than the Hawkwood solution, lighter is always more welcomed by the camera op... FWIW
  16. On a recent job where we air traveled through about 30 airports the most thorough checking was exiting Israel, so many questions and every box scroooted.... but very efficient and pleasant about it...... On the other hand a security official at my home town in Melbourne Australia wanted to see an authorisation letter from the airline that they were happy to have our lithium batteries on board. We had a printout of the IATA lithium battery rulings but he wanted airline specific clearance. We had traveled a gazillion kilometres and never been asked for this letter! He wouldn't budge on it, "If they catch fire on board I won't be held responsible!"... He eventually accepted a verbal OK from the airline representative, we had to literally run for our flight. I think I will ask the line producers to get an airline specific acceptance note from now on....
  17. Thanks to Eric for the heads up on these boxes. I've modified one to hold 9Vs, AA cases and it keeps the AAAs under control.
  18. Just finished a documentary traveling through Tanzania, Kenya, Oman,Turkey,Israel, Kyrgyzstan, Timor Leste, India and Australia using Tentacle. Not one problem. The DOP, post and I like these.
  19. Anyone had experience with disassembling ( and reassembling ) the joint on the KTek articulated boom? I'm keen on replacing the cable myself.
  20. If in doubt disconnect the snake while monitoring return.
  21. Love the 633 unit I use.... Any chance of "piggy back"-able dashboards attaching to each other... SR rack attached to a row of 411s or swapped to more SRs??
  22. I think I remember some of the old-timey bag mixers used to have left or right hand screen printed face panels, don't know if the meters them selves could be flipped over?
