  1. The forum is broken, Jeff's aware and is trying to fix it.
  2. I've never used Tapatalk, always visit the site only via browser on computer and phone
  3. Not sure if others are running into this, it is happening both on my computer and phone, multiple browsers tested... I’ve noticed over the past day or so that only new posts are being added to the forum view, and new comments aren’t added to the count or bumping the post up. The activity feed is current but as far as I can tell the forums aren’t keeping up. anyone else seeing this? Also, this post got an error when posting, code EXO. That would also explain the other recent multiple post issues
  4. I have the VDB S-QT, and absolutely love it. I originally picked it because collapsed it can fit into an iM2500 Pelican Storm carry-on case horizontally, but I've really fell in love and would like to add an L and XL to my kit. The pole is very light, collars a smooth and like pindrop's old VDB, you can dial in the tension to perfectly hold the boom while easily adjusting the length. Also (though I leave my short cabled) I love that you can remove or change the internal cable in the field without tools. If you can get to a pro-audio shop and swing some poles that would certainly help decide. Pole choice is very personal!
  5. Great! Do you have any actual product and packaging photos? Renderings are cool and all, but you made a thing and I want to see that thing
  6. If you haven't seen it, this video from Gotham Sound goes over the differences between the 100 and 500 series G4s (as well as the sound of the MKE2 lav)
  7. Bouke, great work on that! Just a hypothetical (as I don't know if this is true or not) but since Zaxcom operate at 32khz for their audio converters, it would be easy to assume that their timecode circuits also work at 32khz and the mismatch and rounding errors that would happen from being decoded by a rate 1.5X faster (at 48K) you would see those additional half bit durations of 11 and 14 even if everything averages out in the end
  8. I don't know Mike, putting your shotgun in a "zep of silence" seems counterproductive
  9. the M2T and M2R show the same specs and no one has had complaints
  10. @abetek @Abe Dolinger Any product update, I'm about to start on a longer project and my current charger is at the end of its life. Would love to know if you have a scheduled launch as well as any real life photos?
  11. I started out using the pick-n-pluck foam in my cases, but learned very quickly that it isn't adaptable. All of my cases now are empty and get packed with small soft cases full of different assortments of gear depending on the job. My sound bag stays built in its normal configuration and is either packed into a case or is carried separately depending on the other build outs and travel needs.
  12. You can buy new ipod touches for $200... add a rugged case for $50 you're still cheaper than a comtek, Not sure what the streamer costs but you'll also need to add a high end wifi access point and router. So for the usual number of IFB you're probably even. 200+ for the project Patrick mentioned would put this well ahead
  13. Also, if they're phones are connected to your IFB-wifi they won't have internet, and for some producers that's worse than killing all of the talent
  14. I still stand by my opinion that you should've patented this idea...
  15. Zaxcom UHF IFB system RX12 and RX12R with Dante New Timecode Systems compatible slate – or Denecke should make a "dumb" slate with a pocket to insert your favorite Timecode receiver (Zaxcom ERX, Ambient, TCS, etc.
  16. April 1st is right around the corner
  17. Zaxcom launches Fader Motion Capture, further linking production and post sound Zaxcom is proud to announce Fader Motion Capture (FMC), a feature that records the fader levels and movements made by the production sound mixer in real time into a separate file. The file can be then imported into a post workflow where the fader movements are replicated in the workstation. This time-saving technology allows post production to edit and remaster the location mix without starting from scratch. “Today, many hours of the location mix can be discarded by post as the mix track is being remixed from isolated tracks,” says Glenn Sanders, President of Zaxcom. “Fader Motion Capture will allow the industry to utilize more of the location mix with the added benefits of a fully editable track and saving time.” How it works Fader Motion Capture is available on Deva 24 as a standalone recorder or when paired with Mix-16 or Oasis control surfaces. It creates a separate FADER folder containing “.FAD” files found on Deva 24’s recordings. These files can then be converted into AAF files using free downloadable software called Zaxcom Fader Motion Capture to AAF Converter. Once converted to AAF, the files can then be imported into the workstation. The new files can be added to any timeline where key frames generated by the location mix can be fully edited and remixed. To view the Fader Motion Capture key frames in the workstation change the audio view to “volume”. Workstation compatibility Fader Motion Capture is compatible with Media Composer, Media Composer Ultimate, Pro Tools and Pro Tools Ultimate. To use Fader Motion Capture in Pro Tools, users must first import the converted AAF files into Media Composer then export the audio through Media Composer to be imported into Pro Tools for further editing. basically only has Avid Media Composer compatibility (needing to open in MC and exporting for Pro Tools is disingenuous) Hopefully they can get direct to pro tools and Premiere Pro support working.

Maybe they got their hands on a Bone Conduction hearing aid like Adhear https://www.medel.com/hearing-solutions/bone-conduction-system
  19. can the charger take a direct DC input? this would be great to integrate into my charging case (12v would be ideal, 5v or 24v also do-able)
  20. I use the pelican storm im2500. The latches are much nicer in the storm series than regular pelican (or skb, hprc, etc) What made me pick this case specifically is that I can fit a small VBD pole horizontally in the case. Which means I can fit all the gear I need for a small doc style shoot plus a change or 2 of clothes in 1 case with my sound bag as my personal item and fly without checking a bag.
  21. Sure will. I'm also imagining it being helpful in situations with tight clothes where this will be a big help, and with it bendable it could contour with the body
