  1. I've found some third party Lemo-compatible screw-on type 3-pin connectors that I much prefer over the actual Lemo version. These are the connectors that would be used with a Zaxcom transmitter, or higher end Sennheiser model. When I first got some of these I thought they were Lemo brand and that the company had improved them. Then, I realized that they were a third party version. These connectors use a tightening collar strain relief (that can be reused) rather than the crimp style that Lemo screw-ons have. Picture a strain relief more like what Neutrik XLRs use. They are easier t
  2. Hi I've noticed that when I mark the same take twice, the mirror folder only shows one. For example, I roll on S1T1 and mark it. And then I roll S1T1 again and mark it again. When I do that, it only shows one S1T1X in the mirror folder. There should obviously be 2 marked takes in the folder. In fact the primary folder shows 2 marked takes. Has anyone encountered this issue? And how did you solve it?
  3. Great news for Maxx owners: Just spoke to Glenn and asked him about zaxnet commands from maxx TC out. He assured me it will happen. No timeline yet but still a positive development.

  5. We’ve kept busy expanding the line of belt clips to the LRXLA and TRXLT. It’s a clip that will STAY in place and not fall from pants or belt thanks to his BIG clip with a stopper. Always made with PRO-PLA that is super strong, rounded corners, soft to the touch comfortable to wear for talent. The transmitters can also be slid in upside down in the clip. The exceeding cable can also be looped around the clip. ✌️🛠🎛 available at locationsoundtools.com
  6. Hello sound hive, i m dominique greffard, a sound mixer based in montreal canada. I have recently got a zaxcom nova and a couple of zmt transmitters that i really like. a few times a year i get asked to provide production with a wireless stickmic and i can t justify buying a dedicated xlr transmitter for those rare instances. i decided to come up with an adaptor to allow a zmt transmitter to work with the sennheiser md-46, shure sm58 and the electro-voice re-50. i am now selling those with the xlr-f to lemo adaptor for 110$ Usd paypal. I wou
  7. Hello,I have started to have some issues over the last few weeks with the files being converted off of some of my ZMT3 recorders. but it is intermittent. In a day on a card in the ZMT3, there may be say 7 or 8 files of audio created, which get converted and brought into the avid timeline and synced. I have had a few shoots where certain cast members files, files 4-7 are the only ones ZAXconvert will convert. And when I ask Zaxconvert to do files 1-3 it says "file too small to convert". I checked and the ZMT3's were definitely recording at the time, they were, and this is leading to us losing se
  8. Hello All, I'm curious what everybody's getting on ZMT3 battery life. Either real world or testing. What battery are you using, how long is it running your ZMT and what power level setting are you using? Thank you, Martin
  9. Hello to all of you @JWSOUND It's good to finally be here. I have a question regarding Zaxcom Maxx recorder issue. I've already contacted Zaxcom and Ambient regarding the issue and the good people from Ambient told me that i can send Maxx for service/repair but i should also ask the question here as the nature of issues I'm going through is really weird. Never explained issue to Zaxcom, just asked about the possibility of service in Europe. I'll try to describe the issue the best i can. The other day i ran out of batteries (hawk woods np50) during record
  10. Hey folks! I'm trying to figure out the best Zaxnet antenna for my Nomad. Seeking the best compromise between (1) decent signal range (2) unobtrusive form factor in the bag and (3) minimal stress on the Nomad's antenna mount. I've been using an antenna that's ~4 inches sticking straight up (pictured), but have had some issues with my bag and harness putting pressure on it, causing the mount to loosen. Would appreciate any advice. Thanks!
  11. I've observed this forum for years and used it as a resource to guide me through gear, technique, business practices, etc. Since this is my first post, I just wanted to say that I am humbled and grateful to everyone for sharing your knowledge. The discussions, arguments, and even outright verbal fist fights have been valuable to guiding me to the answers to my questions. I've scoured the forum, but haven't found anything for a particular problem I've been having. I bought 2 ERX2tcd units a few months ago (receiving ifb signal from a qrx235) and immediately noticed a frequent glit
  12. In search of a wiring diagram for the Oasis XLRM 4 pin power jack. Also looking for thread size for the mounting holes on the side of the Oasis unit. Thanks, Vincent
  13. Having worked out how to extract the Deva II files from the DVD-RAM using a modern PC, and having had the phantom power supply on mic input 4 fixed, I now have the four track up and running. Tests on the phantom power voltage reveal a strange issue that I'm hoping someone can chime in on. With the 12v external supply connected, we have around 55v dc phantom power at the inputs. This is obviously slightly over spec for most mics. I then tested with a full li-ion NP1 and was disturbed to get a reading of 72v at the inputs! This drops off progressively as the battery drains. Testing with a variab
  14. I recently got a Zaxcom Deva ii for free, and although it is old, I love the sound, functionality, and form factor and want to use it for multi channel location music recordings, and for sound on small scale documentary shoots. It came with the DVD-RAM recorder. The problem I have is I can't work out how to access the files on my PC. I first tried removing the internal hard disk and plugging in to my Windows 10 computer via an IDE to USB interface. Result; no files to be seen. Next, I bought some DVD-RAM discs and tried mirroring the HDD; this has worked as the files play back on the unit from
  15. I'm getting ready to buy my first Zaxcom wireless units, and can't seem to quite get my head around all of the options. I use a Nomad 10 for my mixer, so I have Zaxnet control from there. Is there any advantage to getting a QRX235 with the QIFB if I'm already using a Nomad or should I be looking more at the QRX200? Does having the QIFB option allow for auto scanning and assigning channels like the RX-12 will when connected to a Nomad, or is it just for manual remote control?
  16. I might have a good deal on a qrx100. I’ve read the manuals and researched them both a bit and the technical differences, but I’d like to hear from people who have used both. I would be using it with my 742 and zmt phantom. Not interested in using it as a camera RX. Just for use with 1 or 2 boom/talent TX. I am also not sure I need a wideband receiver as I only really use it in one block. Is there any reason I should consider one of the newer RX?
  17. We have received questions from sound mixers regarding whether or not infringement of our "Recording Transmitter" patents can be avoided by not recording while set to standardized LAV bias voltages or not wearing a recording transmitter and/or not using the transmitter with a lavalier microphone. After conferring with our intellectual property counsel, the answer is no. Our counsel informs us that none of our patent claims specifically require a “lavalier microphone" or "unbalanced input” and/or that the transmitter be “worn.” Although some of the patent claims require the transmitter to have
  18. Hey everybody! First-time poster here. I'm having some trouble getting rec-run timecode to trigger internal recording in my ZMT3 transmitters. I had believed the important ZMT3 menu setting was this one: Extended Menu > Timecode Menu > TC Jam Mode > Auto-Load Rec Run My ZMT3 transmitters are all set to the same Zaxnet frequency, in the "RX" Zaxnet mode. They are correctly displaying TC that is being sent by an IFB200, but starting / stopping the TC doesn't start / stop the recording. The IFB200 is receiving timecode via BNC from a Canon
  19. Here is an interesting use of our new hand held. The hand held was hard wired to the PA speakers. No external equipment was needed to feed wireless transmitters as the transmitter is inside the handheld itself. The handheld also provided a backup recording of the event. This allowed a seamless recording of all vocals and instruments with a Deva5.8 and a RX12 in a sound bag as well as a virtual multitrack recording contained in every transmitter synced with Zaxnet time code. The Subway players appeared more realistic without the extra gear that would be needed without the Zaxcom transmitting an
  20. Hi all, Anyone have experience on whether the stereo recording using the STA 150 on the ZFR 100 will produce inferior recordings in comparison with a mono recording through the audio input? The bonus question is whether anyone has found out whether running an external DAC into the STA 042 results in any transcoding degradation in ZFR100 recording? Many thanks Richard
  21. Litigation is once again the topic of the day. I see from https://search.rpxcorp.com/litigation_documents/12428564 that Zaxcom has decided to sue Lectrosonics over the PDR unit claiming infringement of their U.S. Patent No. 7,929,902, 8,385,814 & 9,336,307 all entitled “VIRTUAL WIRELESS MULTITRACK RECORDING SYSTEM.” Members here I imagine will likely naturally take one side or the other. Personally, I am a former Zaxcom and current Lectrosonics and Wisycom user. I am a supporter of patents as they offer much needed protection to innovators and inventors when used in the correct manner.
  22. Some time around the September of last year, I was approached by someone on Facebook to work on there feature doing sound. So I asked the potential client what was his budget, he responded $10,000 US. So I had the brilliant idea of charging him the cost of my current audio recorder the Zoom F8 in exchange for my services. Having mentioned money, he immediately went on to saying that this was a shoe string budget and that no one from the crew was getting paid. After respectfully declining, I decided to sell my one and only audio recorder which was the Zoom H4N, and bought my F8 on credit, which
  23. I searched the site but couldn't find it. How do you calibrate the battery on the TRX743? Thanks.
  24. I've owned and used Lectrosonics R1a receivers in years past and currently own and use Comtek PR-216 receivers, but its time for a change in that the Comteks just aren't performing as reliably as needed. The signal needs to be consistently clean and clear as the client's opinion of my work is influenced by what they hear over IFB. R1a receivers are rock solid and sound fine, but I want to get away from using 9v with a battery life of 8 hours per alkaline. The several days a Comtek will go between battery changes is exceptional, but the 10mw M-216 Option P7 transmitter and plastic c
  25. Hi Guys. I have the recommended Lemo FVB.00.303.NLA connector and need to make up an XLR (F) line level cable for my Zaxcom TRXLA3. Besides patience, anyone got some words of wisdom on how to do this. I'm assuming both resistors will be wired in the XLR as the lemo is too tiny. Also, how do you attach the screen to the Lemo connector body? Many thanks, Sebastian
