Hello, I just bought a Block 25 Lectro 411 wireless mic set. But, before I start using it, I'm curious if anyone else is happily using Block 25! I have 21s, crowded 22s, crowded 26s, good 20s, good 19s. I hear there's a problem with 19s (something about a frequency starting up and knocking you off???) But 25? No idea. Thanks for your input!

Hi Folks, Total nOOb here. I am a Pro Tools guy (been doing post work for more than a decade) with increasing interest in production sound (please no hate mail for stepping out of the closet). I have the opportunity to go out on a shoot with a camera guy friend. Pretty simple set up: Two G3 wireless and a boom (MKH 416T or ME66) going to a SD 302 and straight to camera. Rumors has it that the 302 won't power the mics very well. Any thoughts? Thanks for your help!

Hi everyone. I'm making equipment purchases for my small production company. I understand the reasoning behind hiring experienced sound crew rather than purchasing equipment. However, many of our productions will be personal projects with no budgets, so we need to be able to rely on ourselves. The idea is train up a couple key members of our team so they can cover audio on the smaller projects, and hire good help when the scope of a gig requires it. Our starting budget is $20k for audio gear. I prefer to invest in gear that will give us the best quality results, even if it means a more minimal setup. We can always rent, and/or add on later. The regular gigs we need t…

http://www.lectrosonics.com/417-BATTSLED/View-details.html I love this concept and I think it would make an excelent addition to oncamera wireless rx such as the Lectro 401 or the QRX100. It even is a nice option for the Lectro T4 TX in an off the cart situation. Thought I might share it as a solution for any and all out there in sound land! Eric Lamontagne

Glenn (or others): is there a way to have the Rackreceiver RX4900 output phantom power on its BNC inputs to power an external antenna amp or an activ antenna? This would be very useful and similar to Sennheiser or Audio ltd units. Matthias

Hello, friends here. My name is Seokjun Lee from South Korea. I'd like to add few mics to my gear and one of them is Microtech Gefell's M310 which is a hypercardioid type. But it's very hard to find any reliable online shop that deals with the M310. I've found some shops(vintageking.com ...etc.) only have stocks on M300 which is normal cardioid sort, not hyper. Any one knows where I can order in the US? Thanks.

So I thought I posted this a while back, but I guess I did something wrong. Anyway, I'm looking for any ideas of a good small mic pre I could use in my sound bag. I currently have an MM-1 but really I want something smaller. To give an idea of the setup I have a 442, and on occasion need an extra channel for a fourth lav. So I got an RX emergency, but find that using just the rx at +05 isn't quite enough of a signal. So I'm turning the knob on the RX emergency up all the way and I'm justgetting the level to where it needs to be, but don't have anymore room if the talent starts to get quiet again. And sometimes turning up the gain on the tx is not really a grea…

Fostex Users Support seems to be waining here in North America for these units. I have been in contact with the Canadian service and repair facility and have had some response but not as much as I have hoped for. I am using version 1.31 software in my PD606 and v1.30 in my PD204 and enjoying the solid nature and extra features. I especially like being able to mirror to a USB thumb dive as any file name changes are reflected on the mirror USB also. I believe that they have enabled a function 'roll on incoming timecode' which I haven't tested out yet. Latest software releases as found on the Fostex Japan website: PD606 - Version 1.31 (http://66.163.168.225…

So I was watching the behind the scenes stuff on the latest Resident Evil film and saw this....... I realized it is customized for the film, but all the metadata and everything is great. Is this the Denecke/Zaxnet slate? I don't recall ever seeing any pictures of it.

I'm currently using a Porta Brace bag (not sure the model) for my 552 and wireless. I love the fact that I can easily pull back the Velcro flap to gain access to the SD card, BUT the RM Multi bag frequently starts to pull apart from the rest of the bag (admitably, I'm probably carrying too many accessories and adapters). Anyway, I think I want to switch to the Petrol bag, presumably either a PEGZ 1 or PEGZ 2. So here is my question, how when using a Petrol bag do you access the SD card? Would it be possible to cut a rectangular hole in the bottom of the bag? I've tried using one of the SD card "extenders" and I had problems with it's reliability. Any thoughts?…

I've done my research & it appears the most affordable solution to display time code from my FR-2 would be the Denecke TS-C... I would be using it with cameras like the Red, HDSLR, Sony EX1/3, etc. Sorry to sound like a cheapskate, I'm not expecting a $300 solution, I'm just wondering if anyone else uses something that might be under $1200? TIA John

I am starting to look into buying a new multitrack recorder, and while there is lots to read about the "usual suspects" such as 788T and Fusion/Deva, I only found one old thread about the Tascam HS-P82, which at least on this side of the pond is quite a bit cheaper than the aforementioned while offering similar features. It seems to be a very nice machine on the paper, so I was wondering if anyone in this group has used the Tascam and might be able to share their experience considering handling, sound etc.? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hello all, I was working in the loews hotel in philadelphia-I had a setup using my 442, 2 sanken cos-11 hardwired(its the model sanken that has the battery capsule that you can use phantom without the battery, or use a battery with phantom.) and star quad cables. What I was hearing was a loud thumping sound that would cause both the channels peak light to pop and my level on my master slam to almost full scale. It did not sound like typical rf such as repetitive drum beat. It sounded like a pretty intense thump that randomly happened at different intervals . I switched phantom off and put batteries in the lavs and I heard the thump once or twice but luckily i n…

I'm looking for an affordable solution to sending a scratch track & audio time code via wireless. I'm considering using the Sennheiser IEM (In Ear Monitor) system to send a stereo signal... anyone done this, or have feedback regarding another system? I'm working on a upcoming project with the Canon 5D, and regularly work with projects using the Red, EX1/EX3 & HVX/HMC cameras, so the need is for something that will work with those systems. I've looked Audio-Technica's 1800 & Sony's UWP dual systems, but the Sennheiser EW 300 IEM system is $300-400 less & used systems can be found for between $450-600. I know that there are more high-end systems from Zaxc…

Hi, Dont keep your black and white Hush Lavs in the same plastic bag like I did!! See the results. The black ink or whatever it is leeched into the white ones that were sitting up against the black ones. Photo taken after I separated them. Cheers Peter Mega

Hello everybody! Today when I started our 788T, with a CL-8 attached, the led for the Aux1 channel on the CL-8 was red. Not green as it use to be. I haven't seen that before, anyone knows why it's red and not green? Thanks!
