  3. Considering the odds - a difficult production, all difficult locations and other things - i consider this one of my best works as a location sound mixer. Name of Film: UMRIKA Shot in INDIA in 2013-14 Sound Designer: Christian Conrad - my dearest friend from Berlin who worked in Indian studios on this project Mix Engineer: Martin Steyer - with more than 200 credits - from Berlin who mixed this film in India The film is on NETFLIX. Almost everything is from location as i heard. Very little ADR. Hoping for some of the esteemed peers and seniors from this group to take a looksee... -vin

  11. One thing you might have encountered is that the pins are oxidised and therefore will not hold the wet solder until it gets hot enough for the oxidisation to give way. Use of a good flux (gel) is recommended in this case, or you could "sand" off the oxidisation. Oxidisation also occurs on the soldering tip. Best way to deal with this is to keep cleaning the tip on the brass wool and retinning the tip many times until the solder melts instantly and covers the tip. Definitely not more than 5 to 7 seconds should be needed to melt the solder both on the pin as well as the cable.
