Nice to see a Cameo mixer still being used. In terms of utility, probably the best mixer we've ever had for film production. What a shame it had to be discontinued.

Are you using the backpack as the harness for your mixing bag? Or is that just an optical illusion?

If you are, can you supply a couple more photos f how it's set up and how you use the actual backpack for gear.

Great picture Simon. I see a fan in the background, but I hope there's AC at your location as well. it's been gruesomely hot lately.

We're in that old museum space in the basement of 50 sussex. (project runway canada was shot in there a few years ago) It's a bunker, buried deep so even cellphone signals don't get in and it has been nice and cool for most of the shoot. But 2 weeks ago the AC stopped working so we broke out the fans. It's a bit of a sweat box now, but we're done all of our interior stuff and we go do exteriors next week.

The cameo is pretty amazing. Still has features on it that other newer location mixers haven't included. It's got it's quirks, and needs a little more attention then it used too, but Harry Quan in Toronto knows them well and he keeps mine going, despite the lack of resources and parts. Still haven't found a mixer I'd swap it for. I considered going with the CL-9 controler, but I think I would loose too many functions I rely on with the Cameo.

That's just an optical illusion.

The backpack simply contains all the gear 'not in use at the moment, but I may need it in the next 10 seconds', gaff tape, batteries, extra cables, backup recorder, SD cards, boom pole holder, sun screen, protein bars, water bottle etc.

Stick mic + 2 plug-ons fit perfectly in one of the padded side pockets

Funny thing is I found this backpack at Target and I'm very happy with how much it contains while still feeling relatively comfortable to carry around. It has a lot of pockets and is padded for fitting a laptop in it. The straps have some hoops on them and I put a small strap on one of these, so I can hang the boom-pole in it to free up one hand while moving around during the day. We'll see how long it lasts, but so far, so good.

So what is the machine doing exactly at this instant? I see that it is in stop, but what does the blue light indicate? The larger bargraph is levels of inputs or a mix? What is the smaller bargraph above it indicate--battery? The bottom (all black) bar? Does MON 2 mean you are listening to output 2 or input 2?

thanks

The blue light is indicating that channel 2 is the channel that will be adjusted with auto-trim.

On this screne the larger bargraph is the left / right output meter. There are several metering options that you can toggle through.

Yes the smaller bar is the battery level.

The bottom bar is the input trim level.

MON 2 is the monitor selection i happen to be listing to. There are 14 user programable headphone selects, and you can assign it a label other than MON 2 (I just didn't input it).

I know the photo is pretty crappy - I will try to post better ones later.
