  1. You could try this rental house, mostly camera stuff but they do carry some audio gear. https://camerakit.ie/hire/product-category/audio-hire/ Regards Trev
  2. Hope I'm not stating the obvious. Have you ensured that Input Configure is set to 8 or higher(p33 of manual), this enables Zaxnet and IFB is set to TX and not Off. Both of these features are found in Zaxnet menu. If above settings are disabled Zaxnet Ver is blank in About page. Regards Trevor
  3. Kortwich make a variety of hi rose power distribution solutions. http://www.filmtontechnik.de/en/products-from-kortwich/power-supply/hirose-distribution-box/
  4. I use this adapter, very handy when you've access to mains power. http://www.hawkwoods.com/products/details/details.php?code=ps-65n&mainMenuItemToSlide=4&asi=npa-sqn&asi2=npb-sqn4s Trev
  5. @ Vale Loop Record is how the TX records (continuously, overwriting old data when the card fills...NonLoop stops recording when full). Power Roll is completely separate. This is when you remotely get the TX to boost it's output power when you engage record on the Nomad. This is done in the Zaxnet menu by selecting Dynamic in the Transport Commands. It's all there in the manual if you read hard enough. As Rado said earlier the QRX displays Rec to let you know that the TX is in record. Regards Trevor
  6. Thanks Rado, look forward to your reports. Trev
  7. Hi lads, where did you get the new firmware? Has it been officially released, I don't see it on the Zaxcom site. Trev
  8. I use WiEye app for Android and anytime I do a scan 2.412 & 2.462 seems to be the most common frequencies. As Wandering Ear mentioned above about even freq allocation I have tuned my Nomad and ERXs to 2.430 and TRXs to 2.468 with increments of .002 for additional TRXs to allow monitoring from the ERXs. 9. On my current job the Camera dept. are using a wireless follow focus which utilises an item that looks like a small set of binoculars mounted on top of the camera that gives a digital readout on a box mounted on the side of camera, think it might be called ' Cine tape'. It sends out some form of supersonic pulse and relays the focal distance back to the readout box so 1st AC can double check his focal length with a quick glance. Not sure if this is part of the follow focus package or a stand alone piece of kit but agree it would be handy on reality and doc type work. On these type of jobs I try and glance at lens and guestimate where on the lens DP might be or catch his eye and hope for the 'pinch' gesture to signify a tight shot or suchlike. Regards Trev
  10. If you press down 5 times you go straight to the extended menu, the 6th press brings you to the factory menu where you don't really need to be as John has mentioned. Trev
  11. @Simon, should have got art dept. to stencil 'Sound speeding' on the side of the van. You could call your vans Mach 1 and 2. Trev
  12. Seems to be some semantic misunderstanding. Are we talking about front and back(on top? same as 788) or top (controls) and bottom (xlr inputs)? Trev
  13. Last week on a job, 2 talent were driven down a track to walk back towards camera. Signal was patchy on the drive but as soon as they got out of the vehicle I had them clear as day, distance was 400 yards. Txs(900 LAs) set at 50mW placed in chest pockets, dipoles mounted in bag. The location was the countryside with no RF interference. In urban environments I've gotten 100 yards + in line of sight situations with dipoles mounted in front of bag (no elevation) and Txs at 50 mW. My 2 cents Trev
  14. I would caution against putting pole down with XLR connected as the base is XLR threaded into a plastic base and over time this threading can/will wear away and will no longer hold the connection which will slip into the pole leading to severe cable noise. This base connection can be ordered a spare part (€22) from VdB in France. Other than that very happy with this pole (14', old style collars) the extra weight of the internal cable is a payoff from being able to go from 6' to 12' in a couple of seconds. Regards Trev
  15. Thanks Larry, but wouldn't a positive charged thimble or nano-bucket be more suitable? Trev
  16. Just made myself a pair of co-ax antenna and was wondering how critical is it to not nick the shielding that comprises the bottom 1/4 wave. A few of the strands are broken but as I'll be covering with heat shrink will this be sufficient in completing the antenna without it being compromised or do I have to start again? Trev
  17. No attenuation to the right, -10dB in middle and -20dB to the left. You'll get the manual at SQN website. I'm going from a 2S, the precursor to the 4S Mini (which has 2 versions) Trev
  18. In a recent update (4.02) it became possible to 'enable' monitor presets so that you could keep presets stored but cycle past them if not enabled. It's a box marked 'E' in bottom right of monitor routing page. It might be possible that only preset 1 is enabled therefore making the rest 'invisible'. Hope this helps. Trev Ps I keep a copy of all previous updates, at a couple of Megs not a lot to archive.
  19. Check out the hat further down the page. http://www.soundkit.co.uk/acatalog/Odds_and_ends_and_consumables.html It's a dealer based in the UK but you might be able to find something similar stateside. Trev Ps I've Irish skin but I'm in Ireland so it's only a problem twice a year (if I'm lucky).
  20. Zaxcom office is closed till the 2nd, I've put an order through Trew who have to get code from Zaxcom. Just wondering if promotional price will be honored? Happy holidays to all. Trev
  21. As long as it doesn't have "A**" on the back , everyone deserves a kiss now and then. Trev
  22. That's what Jack said, albeit a comma after "Qrx" and the inclusion of "TRX" before 900LA would have made his statement a bit more succinct. It seems no one RTFMs anymore. Trev
