  1. I use my Brown Note frequency generator when my frequencies get built up. 😁
  2. "… trailblazing audio brands including RƘDE…"
  3. Does the TRS connector have a locking ring? I am unfamiliar with this xmtr. Long shot but if the common denominator is this one xmtr and it has a 3.5mm TRS cconnector, does the noise crackle more if you move the connector side to side before engaging the locking ring? Do you have a can of Tuner Cleaner you can clean the female connector with? Can you connect a dynamic mic rather than the electrolytic mics you mentioned and turn off the 3v supply to the connector to hear if the sound is static free?
  4. I probably don't have as much experience as you, Jimmycat, but for this very reason I usually record poly to one card slot and mono to the second card slot on my Sound Devices Mixer/Recorder. Some post houses want all the tracks encapsulated (poly). Others don't want to clutter their timeline with every track (mono) while they are rough cutting. Maybe they just want you to do the work for their entry level assistant editor. I used to prefer the mono card as I posted for clients but have switched to the poly file once I moved from Sound Forge to Audition.
  5. My simple griptastic umbrella. Works up to 15 mile an hour winds.
  6. Aluminum housing has little RF rejection. Brass housing all the way. Every day. For me. I get into environments where the CMITs are bombarded with RF from fluorescent and HMI ballasts. My old CMC4/MK41 and Senny's, with brass housings have no problem.
  7. Ugh, "Sennheiser engineers have given it an aluminium housing to have less weight." Big mistake.
  8. I have the Accsoon CineEyes Pro. It works really well and works at a greater distances than my friend's Teradek Bolt. When I am shooting House Hunters, the producer is able to see my video feed on the second floor when I am in the basement. The other DP has a Teredek and more often than not, the producer has to be on the same floor as him in order to get a reliable signal. But, the Accsoon sometimes interferes with some Bolt receivers. I don't have a field spectrum analyser capable of scanning 2.4 or 5 so I can't tell what is what scientifically. I can recommend Accsoon. I have had my unit for 5 years. When the transmitter display backlight stopped working they replaced the hole display free of charge. Outside of warranty.
  9. In order to have a NY county sheriff serve papers on Chad Abbott for a judgement in Iowa, I am told I have to get a NY county judge to sign off on it. Since no one I know can currently locate Chad and the fact that he is being sued by his investors, it is unlikely I will see my money. I hope they catch up to him and incarcerate him. The guy is a real sleeze ball.
  10. Dont know if this helps any but I have heard plenty of 5G cellphone noise, which sounds like a combination of popping popcorn hitting a tin lid and and electrical storm crackling, but your noise reminds me of computer communications noise. Assuming you tried a different XLR cable, are you using star quad cable? I have the same mic in my arsenal and all my cables, including internally wired booms are all star quad. I have not experienced RF noise of any kind in the five years I have owned my AT 4053b.
  11. OH, JEEZ! $150 for your earlier cable with no electronics involved. Just wires and pins. That is messed up.
  12. Ok, call me thrifty. I have used the Rycote InVision Lyre system for years with all my mics with good results. Very customizable.
  13. Sorry. I have two MDR 7506 headphones. One is at least 20 years old. The other is five years old. The coil cables have not developed the issue you describe. My use exposes them to temps of -30°f to 100°f. Is the goo black or clear. If it is clear, have you tried to remove it with Goo-Gone? It the goo is black then you will need to replace the cable. It is deteriorating. There are kits available for this.
  14. My condolences, Jeff. All my best to you and family.

I am comfortably watching the Eagles game from my lazyboy today. Though my screen is only 55 inches the sound is phenomenal with my 5.1 surround. Unplug the center (dialog) speaker, crank the rear side speakers and it sounds like I am in the middle of the action. The people mixing this game are doing a GREAT job. I can hear the QB calls, the hits and the sideline cussing. Plus the beer is much cheaper.
  16. Like whether the Vancouver Canucks are going to trading J.T. Miller! * going to trade... Sausage fingers, I have.
  17. TDSG, I hope you don't mind me abbreviating your handle. My stubby fat Belgium sausage fingers don't type well, Three weeks ago my wife's parked car was hit by the neighbour. Police investigated, asserted that a police report was warranted as the damage would be over $4k. The insurance companies talked and said they can just handle it as no fault and we could get the car repaired. I further asked our agent if we went that route would our premiums go up. She said likely yes. What the heck? I said no. You, as my agent, get the driver's insurance company to pay. This isn't going on out record. She said she could but it could be repaired sooner if we just went no fault. Jeez, no. Make them pay. I hope your "no fault" insurance works better than ours.
  18. +100, TDSG. Plus, as soon as the 4th amendment doesn't matter to an individual because, hey, I'm not doing anything illegal, that is when tyranny gets a foothold. I'm not paranoid but the people watching me are. We should all exercise our 1st, 4th and 5th amendment rights daily. Too bad my wife doesn't recognize my rights when the Amazon guy leaves a big order for me at the door.
  19. When flying, especially internationally, I recommend taking two mobile phones one for you to keep under wraps while going through security and a dumb phone for showing to TSA. It works. Oh, and use a VPN, of course.
  20. Was the production sound mixer a one-man-band? If so, he/she may have planned on using the lavs to cover dialogue and the boom to cover Foley/ambiance. Did the focus of the boom change for various takes? When I have to swing my own boom I focus it on actor A in a couple of takes and then actor B in couple of takes. Just ideas.
  21. Add me to that list. Long ago It only took one time of the genny op pulling power on me without notification for me to go out and buy a UPS (uninterrupteable power supply) for my cart.
  22. It REALLY is. A pristine 2-track mix is never a top priority for me, other than live sound reinforcement. My focus is on prefader ISOs and detailed notes. I had the pleasure of mixing with a very experienced and very talanted boom op on an indy feature. The PSM he usually works with was booked. I got the PSM job because I DP'ed a doc for the same company and they knew I had a long history of mixing too. The boom op encouraged me to attend to the 2-track mix more than I had been. He told me his partner would even ask for additional takes if he didn't ride the mix closely enough. I'm sure I looked at him dumbfounded. I would never ask actors to perform another take just because I failed to nail the 2-track mix and knew I had clean ISOs. Would any of you?
  23. It is quite simple to create your own interactive sound log database using a db app like Memento Database v5. You can create pull-down menus, radio buttons, star ratings, scene and take numbers with auto increment, notes, etc. But you will need something like the Tenecle TC app on your phone to capture accurate timecode. With the Tenecle Timebar app (free) you just tap the running tc, it is automatically copied to your clipboard, go back into the db you created and paste in the appropriate db field. I just created one as an example. Pic 1 is data entry screen Pic 2 is list screen
