And no, I'm not referring to the band / musician, but to the snow storm that hit us in the northeast! Just finished digging out the car and shoveling the side walk, but the city sanitation department has yet to pass by and sweep the streets, so my work is still cut out for me. In the meantime, a nice cup of hot chocolate (and some whiskey later on) to keep the spirits high! Hope everyone is dry and warm!

Woodstock unseen: 45 years on, photos from music's most famous festival - recall an era of peace, love and half a million hippies camped out on a dairy farm. " Not only is Woodstock one of the most famous music festivals of all time - it was also one of the defining moments of the 1960s counter-culture movement. Rolling Stone magazine’s first photographer Baron Wolman was sent to Max Yasgur's farm in the Catskills to cover the festival. More interested in the crowd than the performers - his photographs are hugely evocative and offer an insight into this legendary event that is rarely seen. …

Ocean Gravity: Spectacular Footage of Freediver Guillaume Nery - Flying through Swift Ocean Currents North of Tahiti by Christopher Jobson on February 1, 2015 Quote: "Filmed late last year by director and underwater cameraman Julie Gautier - this amazing footage shows free diver Guillaume Néry as he’s carried by swift currents through Tiputa pass - part of the Rangiroa atoll about 355 km Northeast of Tahiti. When you hear about strong currents near the ocean or large lakes - it’s difficult to visualize exactly how they work, or the power they carry. This film should quickly pu…

JBond. In your vast collection do you have the Nagra transfer machine (or a photo) made by the UK's legendary Nagra Guru David Lane. It was based on a 4.2 with a synchroniser and was built to a BBC specification. Most BBC transfer Bays were quipped with these in the 70's.

I recently worked on an episode of Panorama for the BBC, and I learned that last week's episode covered the first and only British interview with Ed Snowden in Moscow. The interesting boom stands/arms/hardware caught my attention, so here's a screen capture. Discuss... Here's the episode if you wish to watch it.

I've been watching Stephen Colbert and was amazed to see the Rotunda that you never saw when Letterman was there. I started googling and found a website that has a Studio 50 page, and even more amazing is that it is on Scotty Moore's website. and If you love early Elvis records it was Scotty Moore who played guitar. http://www.scottymoore.net/studio50.html

Since JW asked me to post these pics here, I will oblige… It's my first upright cart (having used a Magliner Junior until now) so I decided to go very deliberately and avoid, if possible, any mistakes. Didn't win on that front, but am happy with my efforts so far. The cart is based on a StarCase rack unit, which had previously been housed in my studio (R.I.P.) to which I added 20" wheels donated from a wheelchair I bought for $60, and a pair of 6" casters I got at Home Despot. Oscar Crispin (known to Agamemnon Andrianos, Chris Howland and Travis Cote and others) fabricated the base for the wheels and the rear handle - and I'm quite pleased with his work. The …
