Vimeo: Uploaded by Tony Zhou Tuesday, February 23, 2016 Quote: "How do you film a conversation? Most likely, you’re going to block the actors, set up the camera, and do shot/reverse shot. But where do you put the camera? What lens do you use? And how do you cut back and forth? Today, I consider the Coen brothers - Joel & Ethan - and see how these choices lend a particular feel to their version of shot/reverse shot."

Any former projectionists here? The whole thing was quite an experience and it made me appreciate film all over again. Shot with a Nikon D810 using the Kessler TLS system and a Second Shooter. Here are some CAD drawings of my forthcoming Sound Cart (hopefully available end this month). Last chance to send me your ideas and feature requests before a final design is locked down. Made of aluminium the cart is extremely light-weight yet very strong. It has been primarily designed as a bag cart however it would be suitable for those that need a compact "grown-up" cart (max load 25kg). It features a total of 18u storage (3x 6u) in addition to 3u dedicated to video monitor use (which can be angled). Because standard 19" racking is employed, you can customise it using any 19" gear (shelves, drawers etc.). There will be a range of optional extras for things such as bo…

Uluru – the 600m-year-old gigantic rock formation in the heart of Australia – was transformed by heavy downpours this week, with rainwater cascading down its 300-metre sandstone facades. The spectacular event was photographed by local environmental staff on Tuesday evening as a storm passed over the nation’s ‘red centre’. Uluru is in one of the driest regions of Australia and experiences extreme temperatures ranging from the high 40s in the daytime to below zero at night Friday 15 January 2016 All photos © Parks Australia - as seen on: http://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/gallery/2016/jan/15/ulurus-magnificent-waterfalls-landmark-transformed-by-rai…

Hello everyone, Im a film student, and I am getting into production sound mixing. I have worked on tons of shoots (indy mostly) as a sound mixer and love it! But I don't yet have a sound cart, I am thinking of building one but don't know of any good places to get the materials except 80/20 but would like input on designs, A couple things I had in mind for the cart, I want to be able to tuck my Pelican 1620 case on the cart, (somewhere on the bottom) I just want a cart that's simple and sweet, a couple shelves and maybe a drawer. I also need it to be able to collapse, to fit in my little car ( or small enough to fit) Here is my setup. Aaton Cantar X2 (no mixer board …

And no, I'm not referring to the band / musician, but to the snow storm that hit us in the northeast! Just finished digging out the car and shoveling the side walk, but the city sanitation department has yet to pass by and sweep the streets, so my work is still cut out for me. In the meantime, a nice cup of hot chocolate (and some whiskey later on) to keep the spirits high! Hope everyone is dry and warm!

Woodstock unseen: 45 years on, photos from music's most famous festival - recall an era of peace, love and half a million hippies camped out on a dairy farm. " Not only is Woodstock one of the most famous music festivals of all time - it was also one of the defining moments of the 1960s counter-culture movement. Rolling Stone magazine’s first photographer Baron Wolman was sent to Max Yasgur's farm in the Catskills to cover the festival. More interested in the crowd than the performers - his photographs are hugely evocative and offer an insight into this legendary event that is rarely seen. …

Ocean Gravity: Spectacular Footage of Freediver Guillaume Nery - Flying through Swift Ocean Currents North of Tahiti by Christopher Jobson on February 1, 2015 Quote: "Filmed late last year by director and underwater cameraman Julie Gautier - this amazing footage shows free diver Guillaume Néry as he’s carried by swift currents through Tiputa pass - part of the Rangiroa atoll about 355 km Northeast of Tahiti. When you hear about strong currents near the ocean or large lakes - it’s difficult to visualize exactly how they work, or the power they carry. This film should quickly pu…

JBond. In your vast collection do you have the Nagra transfer machine (or a photo) made by the UK's legendary Nagra Guru David Lane. It was based on a 4.2 with a synchroniser and was built to a BBC specification. Most BBC transfer Bays were quipped with these in the 70's.
