I just discovered this fabulous iPad app, V-Control Pro from Neyrinck and it's only $50. Apologies if this has already been covered here. I can open any Pro Tools Session and control it from my iPad, adjust individual channels, groups and more. I'm really loving it. http://youtu.be/978LhiLqqQI

Hi All, Did a live to "tape" sports shoot gig the other day feeding mono mix audio from MixPre-10T into a PC laptop running "V-Mix" video studio software. Just wondering if anyone else has used V-Mix and has any experience about optimizing the audio workflow. We sent an analog mono mix out of the MixPre 10T via single TA3/XLR output into a basic Roland USB interface into laptop and on into V-Mix software. The results were clean but final levels in the laptop seemed a little low for my liking. Need to get more familiar with gain staging into and inside V-Mix, I think. I was impressed with V-Mix generally for it's capabilities and features - too b…

Hi guys! I bought a new MADI interface for my Boom Recorder rig and am getting an error. I have only used Boom Recorder with analog and ADAT devices before, so maybe you can tell me what I'm doing wrong? I am receiving a "We lost samples between the audio interface and the i/o cycle" error after 2 or 8 minutes of recording. Do you have any idea what might be causing this? Here is the configuration I am using: Boom Recorder 8.7.2, 65 Channels, 130 Files, 1 Folder RME Ufx+ via USB 3 15" Macbook Pro 2016, Osx 10.12.6, 2.6 Ghz i7, 16G Ram 1TB G Drive USB 3 Thanks for your help in advance!

I've done a lot of hairy gigs w/ Metacorder, and it seems like there are some other folks here who have done a lot more of same than me. But what about BoomRecorder? Anyone using it for high-track count live recording? (above 8 tracks, more like in the 24 tr range). With what interfaces etc? I'd also be interested to hear from some of the folks using it on location/on carts to backup Devas or add extra tracks to them etc.. How's it going? What pitfalls etc? Philip Perkins CAS

Hello, I'm looking for a smartphone app (for Iphone) and would like to know wich app is the best. It's mainly to record a lavalier mic (VT506Mobile). I've found that iTalk can do up to 44.1 16bit, but I don't know if there are some differences in the capability of the apps? Or if the limiting factor is the smartphone? What are you thoughts? Thanks Patrick

I've been investigating options for production recording with a computer, and haven't found anything that really suits it for windows (and I don't want a new fruit-based computer) I've been using RME's global record function on Digicheck to do concert recording for some time, the recording is very stable and the metering's excellent. But it doesn't read time code, there are no metadata options and you have to name files when recording stops REAPER has all the functionality, but it is a full blown DAW and also has many functions which aren't needed on set. Maybe some templates could be useful? Does anyone have experience with either of these programs or any…

Word Clock 1 2 3

This is a spill over from another discussion but I was wondering where folks are taking their word clock from? I usually make my mixer, in this case an 01v96, the master and lock all the other machines, MOUT 828 MK2 to it as slaves. MLan is breaking this style of build as it requires the computer attached to be the word clock master. Here I am experimenting w/ Boomcorder via mLan and it doesn't seem to me that my powerbook would be the best source for sync but it is required to be the master in the world of mLan. Hopefully this will change. Darren Brisker has posted about running TC into a MOTU traveler and then having word sync/line up to that so that TC is bascial…

Here's the chain; Yamaha 01V96 AES/EBU out to Mutec Format Changer on D-sub 25. Mutec Format Changer to MOTU Traveler on ADAT Lightpipe. MOTU Traveler to Boom Recorder on an Apple Mac Mini on Firewire 400. Timecode from Denecke GR1 to Boom Recorder on an Apple Mac Mini through MOTU Traveler All sampling rates and bit deapths will be 48/24 throughout. Timecode already shows lock to the Mac at the Traveler. Can I assume that work clock will be carried through the AES/EBU between the Yammy and the Format Changer and through the Lightpipe from the Format Changer o the Traveler with no need for BNC coax? No need to speak about the setup. This rig is fitting …

Scenario 1. Recording master 2 track audio to a HD Tape Deck, Record Run TC 2. Backup 2 track to 744t 3. ISO tracks to Boom Recorder via MOTU Traveler Plan: 1. Send TC and WC from deck to 744t 2. Send TC from 744t to MOTU audio input 3. Send S/PDIF signal from 744t to S/PDIF in on MOTU (not sure I need to record that input?) Is this still considered daisy chaining word clock?

For all you Nuendo users, some interesting new stuff coming down the pipe... First off is the new software side of things, Cubase 7 and Nuendo 6. http://www.steinberg.net/en/products/nuendo/nuendo_6/start.html Even more interesting is the hardware controller made by partner Yamaha. http://www.steinberg.net/en/products/nuendo/nuendo_system_solutions/nuage_system_solution.html It seems to promise ICON like integration, but smartly made in a modular format. A big bravo for making the centre section in a standalone product with expandable fader buckets. I don't know what pricing is like, but it should come in quite cheaper than Avid, obviously gre…

Hi All, Has anyone tried this relatively new Yamaha unit as a Mixer / Interface for Boom Recorder or Metacorder? It looks to me to have a lot more FW i/O options than the Onyx units - you can route individual tracks back to the mixer channels for playback / remix, plus 6 monitor channels. Yamaha claim the 8 mic preamps are a great improvement on those in the 01V/96 and DM2000. cheers, nick

Hi All, I'm looking to see if anyone is using Boom Recorder after installing OSX Yosemite. Or for that matter, Wave Agent, Pixnet/Pix 260, Dante Virtual SoundCard, Audacity etc. Any issues encountered by anyone so far? Just checking into it before I do the leap. Thanks, Scott Harber
