I´ve got a QRX100 that looses reception on one antenna input after 2 hours. Had the feeling while working and have setup a test at home. Nothing got changed in the position of the TRX nor QRX while testing. Full reception in the beginning, dropped to zero after 2 hours. Changing the antenna from A to B doesn´t help. Does this ring a bell? Is there a software readout in the factory setup that could give a hint? Best, Matthias

Had my block 26 411a shut down by itself. Was connected to BDS system with no battery in the unit. Tried to turn unit on with the units on/off switch. Unit would power up and then just shut down. Cycled switch again and got same thing. During it's power down, could read "channel not selected". Finally unit would stay powered up, but there was full RF meter and none of my transmitters were on. Did a scan and very high RF was on my channel, so I moved to the other side to get a clear no RF channel. While on the old channel, any touch of the unit's top produced junk to show up on the mixer which sounded like static. With new channel nothing happened to the mixer with clear s…

I have 20 or so iPower 9V 520 (purple) rechargeables. Their first use was mid 2008. They probably have 50-80 cycles on them. I've been in TV world the last couple of years and haven't used them. I pulled them out today and started doing some time tests. Frankly - they are all over the place. Averages seem to be : UM400 xmitter - 4 hours UCR411a receiver - 3.5 hrs (2 batts) This seems short. The batteries are old, but don't have a lot of cycles. How much do they degrade sitting on the shelf unused for 2 years. Trash 'em and start over?

Anybody uses the Ambient ALL601 to stamp a TC on Canon D50 (or same) cameras ? Is it a good choice? Any suggestion for a masterclock unit that would be as small as can be (bag use) ? Glenn (Zaxcom) , any hint about a possible unit (or IFB100 implementation maybe) that would eventually be released to do the job ? That would be nice to use, along with the ERX1TCD on cam (very small factor)...

Tascam came out with the v1.05 update for the HD-P2 audio recorder. They don't mention on their web site what is in the update and I emailed Tascam a week ago about it and haven't heard back from them. I have v1.04 right now. What is in v1.05, is it worth upgrading, is there any problems with v1.05? thanks

Last week I used my SD 633 as a digital front end for an impromptu ADR session. A cameraman friend of mine called me and asked if I could record some wild lines for an actress from Germany and I said sure, ok, she can come over to my house and we'll record those wild lines in a few minutes, but then I get an email from the German post house listing all the tech requirements for an ADR looping session and a link to the video clip with the scene to ADR and uh oh "I think I may be in over my head." I'm not running a big audio post house- I don't even have ProTools. I may have to find her to a real post house. Then I looked again and saw what they wanted delivered was an OMF …

I play a lot of MMO games and I use voice chat programs to talk to my guild buddies. I do not like to use a headset because I don't like to wear a headphone with gaming. I wear my headset around my neck, just so I can use the microphone. The wire is exposed, so I think at some point it will completely break. A week ago I bought a USB to XLR with phantom power converter, a mini audio interface, just as a present for myself. But I do not have a microphone with it. Do any of you have a good idea for a microphone that is easy to wear, maybe a lavalier clip on? I have used the COS-11 on set before, but it is a bit pricy for gaming, I also worry how good the wire wo…

OK so i finally got around to testing what my gut was telling me. I have been feeling like I had to crank the gain a lot more to get the same level out of the 664 vs the 552. For this little test I set both to peak only metering. I set up COS11 on a SM(30) running to two 411a RX are set at +5dbu running line into both mixers. To get a 1Khz tone played through a speaker to give me the same level on both mixers I had to have the gain at about 1:30pm on the 552 vs 3pm on the 664. Why do I need to give the 664 more gain? They both have the same scale on the trim 22-72 so I would assume they should be just about identical if everything else is the same. Am I missing somethi…

Anyone using one of these for a cart battery? If you already have a bunch of np1 batteries this seems like it would be a decent solution. I am making the assumption that it can be used with the newer lithium batteries and not just the older NMiH minus the charge function. I found a article that Trew put out a number of years ago (June 1999) talking about them, but cant seem to find anything current on them. Not even sure if they are still made. Thoughts? http://www.broadcaststore.com/store/model_detail.cfm?id=20124 https://www.trewaudio.com/mixer/mixerv4n2.pdf

Hi everyone, first topic here. I searched a bit before posting so hopefully this isn't a redundant topic. I was a bit paranoid with media since I'm reading a lot of media problem and myself having a problem with a 552 before, upon a bit of searching there's a way to check whether your card is original or a fake copy. Use this tool http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/H2testw.shtml Unfortunately it's Windows-only, hopefully someone else can suggest a mac alternative. If your card is original, when you verify the test - it will come up with 0 errors. Hope this helps you get a peace of mind when buying new cards. Good day, …

I am working with an excellent leather professional to make some trx900la and erx1 leather cases with clips. Who else is interested? If I order more they will be cheaper. I am expecting to have some demo cases by the end of the month.

One of my Deity w.lav Micro lavaliers got yanked on a shoot last week, and is shorting at the Microdot connector. It's been 6 days, I'm having no luck getting any kind of support response from Deity, either through their web support form, or direct emails to their support department. Anyone have any experience with their repair/support department? A phone number? Or, does anyone know if it's possible to dissemble and repair the connector myself? I do have soldering skills, but can't figure out how to get into the connector.

I have a job coming up with tc transcription requested so I plan on sending program audio and time code in a split feed out of the Tape Out jack to an Olympus two track recorder recording 128kbps audio in MP3 format. Will the Nomad Tape Out feed stereo (audio left/tc right) through a stereo 1/8" cable? Or is there a specialty 1/8" I'll need to source? I recall a previous post that deals with this but I can't find it now. Thanx in advance.

Hi all, Rycote USA does not have any more 19mm clips for the Rycote Modular suspension for use with the MKH 815/816. Their replacement is the Rycote Lyre Upgrade Kit 042223. Using only two lyre mounts seems to not really be stable enough for the MKH 815/816. Does anyone have experience with whether using 3-4 lyre suspensions will noticeably increase the amount of vibration transmitted to the mic? Thanks, Richard

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOcm0xIJr4s C.J briefly compares it to a lectro PDR. https://www.picogear.com/ Yes, another 2.4ghz system(!), but the size of the TX, battery life, charging and remote control are the best so far. Maybe they make 1 with a mic input and balanced outs.

A question for those of you out there using SD MM-1s. Are you using a walkie talkie for PL (mixer to boom op) as SD suggests? If so, are you using one provided by production, or do you have your own? Any makes/models that you could suggest? I am looking at either buying something from radio shack or buying a pair of used ones from a rental house. An important issue of course is connectivity on the mixer and boom op's ends. Thanks for any input, -Greg-

Hi all At the risk of infuriating the Senator (Yes, I have done a quick search..) I'm after the correct pin assignments for the Zaxcom ERXTC2 IFB receivers. I'm getting some cables made that will give me scratch track audio on one channel and timecode on the other. Can anyone advise me for this? Thanks! Rgd's Andrew

I seem to be getting quite a bit of low frequency handling noise with all of my mics. Schoeps CMC641, MKH50, 416, MKH60, in rycote softie mounts, Ktek KGPS, KSSM mount. Poles are cabled Ktek, and my mixer is a 442. As an ENG guy I'm always moving and handling the pole a lot and I just cant seem to reduce the handling noise. Any suggestions?

I am working on set and an LMa transmitter (that is paired up with a UCR100 receiver) has a problem where the LED lights to both the power and audio levels are not functioning properly. Audio is heard while the unit boots up, but then cuts out as soon as the LED lights settle in abnormally like so: -10 has its green LED lit permanent (no blinking) -20 has its red LED lit permanent as well (no blinking) And the power switch red LED is in constant blinking. I made sure that I set the wireless pair (tx/rx) to clean frequencies. The lights to the transmitter remain the same with its receiver either on or off. Anybody familiar with this problem? Is this a prob…
