Hey Sound People! Ive been a forum stalker for a while now and thought it would be good to start adding to the conversation. I guess I'll start off by embarrassing myself so I can just get that out of the way. https://youtu.be/cpT04m1HSgY Cheers

Believe it or not, what she's holding is “an audio interface specially for females.” You see the concept is: “With the growing demands of audio quality, audio interface is no longer a formidable device. Products’ characteristic becomes more important.” Just what the sound community has been waiting for -- an audio interface that doesn't intimidate women! I can't wait for the first on-set review of this ground breaking device. Perhaps a few choice comments to the manufacturer about how this advances the position of women in the world of location sound. Anyone else on here find the ambiant female yelling that is consistent and constant throughout this show misplaced, cliché, and highly distracting? I thought it was kind of a cool design element in Gladiator, but nearly every “epic” period piece since then has had this and it’s become a bit of a “paint by numbers” sound design choice IMHO.

Fascinating NYTimes story about a city that's been built to support location and studio filmmaking. Even more so than anything in dear old LA. Lots of pictures. Even if you don't have time to read the article, glance at the lead photo.

On set with 2 zaxcom erxs and 2 matching brand new red gemeni cameras. Couldnt get timecode to sync. Ran through a whole gamut of potential issues but then finally after I cranked up the tc output voltage to 2 volts they both latched on. Does that output voltage seem high compared to normal? I know they had issues in the past with the epic.

They using the sennheiser g3 for Tiger and Phil. Typical static and dropouts. Surprised on a bigger production like this. Especially live broadcast this was done. 😶

Credit Daniel Lefevre/INA, via Getty Images By Brooks Barnes Nov. 5, 2018 New York TImes LOS ANGELES — One of Hollywood’s holy grails, “Amazing Grace,” capturing what is considered to be Aretha Franklin’s most transcendent gospel performance, is headed to theaters 46 years after it was filmed. “Her fans need to see this film, which is so pure and so joyous,” Sabrina Owens, Ms. Franklin’s niece and the executor of the …

Moog Music We are proud to announce the official release of the Theremini; a re-imagining of one of the oldest electronic musical instruments, and Bob Moog’s first love – the Theremin. It is the only known instrument that you play without touching. Moving your hands in the space around its antennas controls pitch and volume. The Theremini combines a powerful sound engine derived from Moog’s award winning synthesizer, Animoog, with the traditional no-touch playing of a Theremin. The Theremini’s sound engine captures the vast sonic vocabulary of Moog synthesizers and effects allowing for an infinite range of styles and tones. The front panel features a multi function …

Just saw A Star Is Born (Cooper/Gaga)... Just want to say that if Steven Morrow, the credited mixer, is on these boards, you did an amazing job mate. One of the best dialogue jobs I've heard in a long time, and in what seemed like some very challenging environments.

I'm working on a two day gig. One of my cos11d's was working at one location but at the nexted, I started getting pops and cut outs. It got worse. I took it apart and put it back together and now I'm getting nothing. The wire is maybe 2 years old and I take pretty good care of all my gear. Should production cover this or should I just eat it? Thanks, SW

Brother Bill Drucklieb, a member of the Sound Department since 1994, recently underwent a triple bypass after having a major heart attack. Unfortunately, his heart was not 100% viable and after surgery is only working at 18% up from 12% pre-op. He needs additional surgery in a few weeks. To date, his medical expenses are over 200K and mounting, his meds alone are bankrupting him. He has no insurance and is living in a church-based mission for the disabled and homeless veterans in Omaha Nebraska after being evicted for non-payment. Donations can be made to the following GoFundMe page. www.gofundme.com/billdheartfunds Thank you,The Drucklieb Family

Just read the report that Oscar nominated sound professional Frank Serafine was killed over the weekend in an auto mishap. Many here knew Frank as he was influential in pioneering digital workstation use in post production among many of his other achievements. https://www.prosoundnetwork.com/post-and-broadcast/frank-serafine-oscar-winning-sound-designer-dead-at-65 He will be missed. ----Courtney

I owe Burt Reynolds big time. I was changing my career focus from music recording to production sound when he brought BL Stryker to Florida in the late 80's. I worked 12 - 2 hour movies with him that turned out to be my location sound grad school. A gentle man, I never heard him yell unless it was in the script. Thank you Burt.

Long ago and far way there were no internets to learn from. We had magazines, Recording Engineer/Producer, Mix, and Studio Sound. I was rooting around and found this Studio Sound article about LSI Recording in Nashville, the studio I spent years and a marriage working in. I've been trying to post it here but my files were too large. I mentioned this on Jan's Sounderday this morning and John B. found the issue online. A time capsule of sound recording 1984 with my 15 seconds of fame starting on p 38. https://www.americanradiohistory.com/Archive-Studio-Sound/80s/Studio-Sound-1984-09.pdf .
