I haven't read tonnes of testimonials about the Audioroot e-smart K-art. I'm a big fan of my two audioroot bag distros, and the K-art appeals to me with its monitoring and heavy use of Hirose connections (of which I've invested already). But I'd love to hear more about how it fares after years of use, and how nicely it plays with other brand portable battery options (like the PSC pelican life etc). Thanks!

Hello all! I'm thinking of acquiring the older Sax mixer, SX-8 or SX-10. I do have MD2D and it is an awesome-sounding unit, I don't expect the mixer to sound the same of course but really would love to try. I was wondering, maybe, by any chance, if anybody has this hooked up and could do me a favor and run a few samples through it and/or record something. To have a broad sense of tonality, noise floor etc... That would be really helpful and appreciated Cheers

I have been using the Deity DQC2 for a bit and I believe that it deserves a praise. It has so many good things going for it. Size and weight are shockingly small and light. Having it in my kit does not take a lot of space especially considering the small charger brick. Build quality is superb and it seams like it can take a lot of abuse. Expandability makes it very flexible if you want to add more. But the best thing about it is the power design! It takes USBC charging. As somebody who had his Inspire energy 24V charger lost I really appreciate the USBC charging design. An apple Macbook charger or any other USBC charger will work “charging speed…

Wondering if anyone has had a similar issue and looking for troubleshooting suggestions: I'm on day 15 of a feature shoot, and for a couple of days now, without apparent reason, I am only getting signal from one of two TXs at a time. Issue persists on different locations, range is not an issue (I've been managing with the Low setting even for 30/40m distances, Q at maximum), everything intermod-proofed, all TXs on the same band. Interference by IFB or other departments is discarded. All other RXs are clean and have full signal (Wisycom, A10s). I've tried different frequencies, nothing changes: pairing does not happen, just occasionally for a couple of seconds…

Hello all, I am a fairly contented owner of the Lectrosonics SPDR. I front end it with a Sonosax M2D2 - an absolutely incredible piece of engineering. Together I feel that they are the finest rig for ultimate portability. Place it in a little backpack alongside a pair of DPA 4060's and there is nowhere that I cant record some top notch sound. Alas, My little slice of paradise has encountered a perplexing (to me) technical issue. Ive reached out to Lectrosonics Tech department but as of yet no reply - I guess they are swamped and will get back to me soon!? Part of my work is involved in recording the sou…

Hi, I struggle to find much online about the DPA 2017 and I'd be interested to hear experience from people that have used it. Also, how it performs in comparison to other shotgun mics like the Schoeps MiniCMIT or the DPA 4017. Or if you have any audio samples. Thank you

I’m considering to buy this mic and found it has a fixed mid-side. I found an older post saying it can be decoded and re-encoded in post. How exactly is this done? Once the recoding is in my DAW, what needs to be done so I can manipulate the stereo field?

I know that many here have extensive experience of Cinela windshields, but, nonetheless, one or two may find my testing of the two new models of the Pianissimo and Zephyx for the MS with the MKH 8030 and other MKH 8000 mics helpful, not least since I compare them to the Rycote MS Stereo Cyclone. Anyway, for anyone so interested, my write-up (with downloadable wav files) can be found here: https://drbadphil.com/windshields-for-a-mid-side-pair-comparing-the-cinela-zephyx-and-pianissimo-with-the-rycote-cyclone Cheers, Roland

Hello I am a cameraman and don’t have any expertise with audio but sometimes have to run with an audio setup on the camera. I could really do with some advice. I have a Sanken CS3E and have just got a Schoeps CCM41 and a CCM8 as I am wanting to create an M/S setup. When I plug them into my zaxcom nomad I have found the Schoeps CCM41 to be about 10-15 db quieter than the Sanken. I tested using my voice with the microphones about 4 ft (just over 1m) away. I used exactly the same settings for both microphones and their fronts were level with each other. Even on full gain the Zacom shows the Schoeps peaking at about -25 db an…

I want to film interviews outdoors without a boom op. I need to choose a stand to support my boom pole from the stand to the subject. The ground may not be level, so the stand should have a leveling leg. There may be a breeze, and I want the subject and I to be confident that the stand isn’t going to fall over. Also, I don’t want the stand rattling or swaying during recording. I’m prepared to pay in stand weight, stand footprint on the ground and, as needed, 10lb Manfrotto Counter Balance Weights aka Pumpkins. I plan to mount my boom pole on the stand via a Kupo Microphone Boom Holder (12.6”/32cm long) or Boom Mate 2 (10”/25cm long). These mount on a grip head…

My beloved Loon took just the right hit today to snap the spud. Had since 2008 and it is wild to see it last this long. Curious if anyone knows if parts still exist somewhere or if another brand is a worthy replacement? I have some various brands of boom poles. I can try spuds when I get home.

The Remote Audio Hi-Q batteries (OEM Inspired Energy) look to now be available from Trew Audio, and they actually beat the direct Inspired Energy price by a few dollars for the 98wh size. $160 vs. $163. Well done guys. They also have a single bay charger for $117, but details are scarce.

Hi all, does anyone have a guide available for "good" settings for the dynamics menu in a TRXLA transmitter, and a DPA 4061 mic (yes I know the 4063 is recommended)? It sounds pretty good to me on default but perhaps people have preferred settings.

Hey guys, Anyone here use the Bob breakout box? I just bought 3 of them and they've been performing very strangely to say the least. When I powered up the first one it turned on no problem, then I placed it down on my cart and saw a spark. After that it didn't turn on again. As you could imagine I wasn't thrilled, but thought maybe something was weird with my MEON? It's 12 volts and the unit says it requires 15, but it turned on and worked fine prior to the spark. Not sure if that's what did it, but for the next 2 I figured I'd actually give them the right voltage cause yeah, I'm an idiot. I used the 15V DC power adapter from my Cooper mixer…

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has ever disassembled a PCS boom connector. One of mine does not lock as tight as it should any more. I've been using it in dusty environents, though hardly changing mics on it.

I like the minimalist lightweight look of the Rycote nanoshields but how are they comparing in the field? I read that early models had a handling noise issue that was possibly sorted out by new fabric? NAB 2023 seems to be showing them with the new fabric as standard. Or maybe that’s another new fabric? The Cinela piano works great but is heavy ands bit over-engineered if you ask me. The original Rycote Modular system still seems to work great… the cyclone looks ridiculous and heavy to me but I haven’t tried it so who knows. So where does this Nanoshield fit in? Does it offer the same amount of wind protection as the traditional modular system? …
