Hi, finally upgrading from WS4 for my 2x KMR 81i's Should I be pitching my dealer about Piano instead who seems to be trying to avoid discussing it 🤷♀️ e.g. should I be worrying this "lessened" gap between the boundary and the head of my KMR 81i ? Pianissimo would be much more versatile for me than Piano that is granted that opens the path to 8000's and other "minis" (or "modern medium" size now!) outside. Cinela had a facebook post down from 2014 showing "it's possible" - I'm just wondering about the tradeoffs here. Maybe there are some other alternatives I've neglected to check out ?

For personal side projects I've had these puppies for three years and this is a follow-up to my in-depth tests I did when these first popped up. They still work OK for non-critical personal stuff and as usual with any piece of kit I tested them to death and provided RØDE feedback early on they actually changed a lot of things including providing batch export out form these mics that I lamented one had to export one at a time w/ RODE Central. I've had six or something units "crash mics" but none of them really died off humidity / other "natural" causes 😊 The test runs I did three years ago with a mate and I realised I never posted here -…

I'm wondering if anyone happen to have the program software for Phonak TX300V, since I would need to reset the channels of it. I actually downloaded one from duplex.com, but it requires password. Thank you so much!!

I used to have a brilliant Petrol harness. It is gone, and in its place is my old Versaflex harness. Today my shoulders just about died. I miss my petrol harness. So of course they don't make it anymore. I see some nice looking ones from Orca and Portabrace and Versaflex. I have a heavy bag that I almost never wore because it had been years since I worked an actual run and gun gig. I took out some rx and made the bag as light as possible, but it's still a beast. My back and feet are fine, it's just the harness digs into my shoulders. I'm quite intrigued by the short bag version from Versaflex. I like wearing the bag tight and high up so the bottom i…

Hey Everyone, Here is a super rough version of Goose, my 788T control software. Please keep in mind this is VERY ROUGH and I'm posting it to get a feel of what sort of glitches/bugs I need to work out. But feel free to download it and try it. I'm curious to hear any problems/crashes you might have so I can fix them. SCREENSHOT GALLERY: https://imgur.com/a/MdfATSF Here is a list of some of the stuff you can do with it: FEATURES - Fully control the 788T's transport REC/STOP/PLAY - Edit scene/take info easily for the last recorded and next take - One-button "lettering up" to the next scene letter (haven't implemented a num…

Hi all, I need to use my beautiful Nagra III with condenser microphones and I am looking for a way to add phantom power. I bought a Neumann BS945 phantom power supply. Instead of plugging it into my Nagra I measured to see if any of the phantom power made it to the output socket. To my surprise pins 2 & 3 of the output socket both have 50 volts on them. Would I destroy the preamp of the Nagra by plugging this in? Thanks! Matthew

Hello people, A while back I posted about the hardwired CL-Wifi that I made that works much better than the wireless one, and people seemed to like the idea but it was pretty hacky. In setting up an ethernet network on my cart, I realized that the IP address of the CL-Wifi is hardcoded into the app, so I couldn't get it to reliably be a part of my cart's network. I wanted to see if I could write a Windows Forms app that controlled the 788T via the C. Link port, and in the process discovered that all of this can be done over a hardline on the 788's usb port. I've been able to successfully send commands to it and get responses from it using nothi…

Hey all, Currently searching for a Sennheiser IFB Receiver that would be compatible with my EW DP Wireless Transmitter — which is currently being used as a camera hop. The plan would be to send the same signal to the EW DP Rx and a compatible Sennheiser IFB, simultaneously. IFB would be used so that the director can monitor the audio feed on set. The Sennheiser EW DP Camera Hop operates in 470-526 mHz range. looking to keep price below $500 — don’t mind buying used. any suggestions? thanks!

Curious question, can Digital Hybrid Block606 transmitters/receivers in Mode 200 be mixed in freely with Lectro 200 Series Block 24 transmitters/receivers? (assuming both are set to the same frequency)

So to preface, I have a pretty simple, basic sound kit used mainly for small commercial and corporate gigs. Anytime something is bigger or remotely complicated, I’m referring/hiring a proper sound mixer. I use a MixPre 10 II. I typically only ever run a single output utilizing the X1/X2 output. This is either a wired XLR output or out to a single G4 as a camera hop. I don’t have IFBs, Coms, or any other type of standard output/monitoring system. For this next shoot, they are asking for a camera hop on two different cameras. I’m wondering what the best way to do this is with my stripped down kit. Or what cables/accessories I should order to make i…

I have a sound devices 664. Recently on a shoot the power on my mixer just shut off. I turned it off and turned it back on and it worked for the remainder of the shoot. The mixer was on a flat surface so there was no stress on the power cables. After the shoot I went through all the cables trying to see if there was a bad power cable anywhere and everything seems to be fine. I have had this mixer for many years and this has never happened before. If this has happened to anyone else I would appreciate their input on what happened and what the fix is. Thanks

The Rycote Nano Shields are connected to the handle via a quick-release coupling. In my case, this connection is not quite tight and when I hold the Nano Shield by the handle, the basket moves by a few millimetres and you can hear a rattle in the recording. When I put the Nano Shield on another Rycote coupling, it sits firmly. May I ask about the experiences of other Nano Shield users, is the handle firmly attached in your case? I would like to find out if I have a defect handle or if it is a design problem. Thank you, Toby.

Has anyone ever done this/know how to do this? Most of mine are running 1.4.4 and I hear that there are newer firmwares available... I'm sure I could do a google search, but does anyone know off the top of their head where I can find what the upgrade would actually get me? (Sennheiser's site is hard to navigate in terms of finding this info...)

In early 2022, Philippe Chenevez uploaded a detailed, step by step video on how to replace the fur on a COSI. The video is on his YouTube channel, but is not easily discoverable. It’s titled COSI Fur Replacement. I've asked Philippe about the video. He tells me that he sells the fur component, and provides the video, to anyone who wants to replace the fur. He also says that "the price for the replacement fur is not that high (I think it’s even cheaper than the Radius one)”, which Radius is in the process of releasing. I've asked Chenevez for the price, which unsurprisingly, given what he's said until today, is not on his website or on the websites of his distributors. …

Hello all, Anyone care to share their storage and caddy options for rechargeable AA batts? When I used to use rechargeables, I used Powerpax caddies. A battery with the positive pin pointing down/in meant "charged"; pointing up/out meant "dead". You could do a quick visual check of your battery status, and it worked just fine, for a time. After a while, repeated insertion/removal of the batteries from the caddy would strip the outer wrap, and the batteries would short when placed in gear. I'm considering a possible return to rechargeables, and looking for alternatives. Thanks!

I'm going to work on a feature film and the caméra crew will use a Red Gemini. Did some of you work with this cam ? Is it noisy ? Because a few years ago I worked wih a RED camera (don't remenber wich one) and it was a nightmare, between takes it was a constant hair dryer noise, and during takes the fan could increase the speed and the noise...

Not sure if anyone else is fed up with a producer coming up to you in the middle of shooting a scene and asking for an IFB. Then I hastily grab a pair of crappy tangled headsets and then make sure batteries are charged and then hand them to the producer. I have not tried these new bluetooth headphones, but I'm sure it is possible to say have one bluetooth source or wireless frequency which can be amplified wirelessly and then the producer walks up you and you hand him a set of just cans that he switches on and away they go with decent sounding audio no less. Anybody out there trying this or have tried and failed? Example: http://www.amazon.com/Bose-AE2w-Blueto…

My thoughts on Schoeps CMD42 and why Zaxcom Nova “oneunit” is too heavy! 🙂 I am very excited about the Schoeps CMD42 AES42 digital amp. I have been using schoeps exclusively for 6+. Ever since my sennheiser MZD8000 digital AES42 amp died. I was using a digital mic preamp for a long time as well before my MZD8000 died. There is multiple advantages of using AES42. In my opinion the sooner the signal chain becomes digital the better for the sound quality and reliability. Aes42 is IMHO the right approach. No need for analog cable runs ,analog front end pres and Analog to digital converter. No more power and RF interference, buzz, crackl…
