My trusty (about 15 year old) 416 went scratchy today, intermittently crackling with multiple cables. I had opened it once before so I was curious to take a look and found that one of the two resistors on the input stage had badly corroded (see pic). Sharing this for others, perhaps for my own memory, and to take the comments of those wiser than me: fire away. I have recently upgraded my A10-RX to a new A20-RX. The idea is to move from the crowded UHF band to the 1.3 GHz band and to reduce the lenght of the antenna on the A20-mini transmitters. A friend of mine is trying to make a .WAV file in FCP with time code for a music video-type application. He sent me a file which played on my MAC but not on my 744T. The 744T sees the file exists on the CF card, including the .wav extension, but says it is an "unrecognizable file format". I called SD, and they are looking into it. Anyone have any suggestions? Following the DTV transition, there will be some changes as to where in the spectrum the TV stations will call home. In my area (Indianapolis), for instance, a couple of stations will transition their DTV frequency back to where the analog one was. In other cases, stations are moving into slots formerly occupied by yet a different station. I am starting on a show that requires a light run and gun set up and production is asking that I provide a Comtek M 216 TX. I'll be feeding this from the tape out of my SD 302. Hi guys, Did a bit a googling but couldn t find what i was looking for.. Is there such a thing as a female to female 4 pin hirose adaptor and would it work powering from two male connector? Needed to power a sr reciever with a np1 cup the other day and realized on set that i was needing such adaptor. Do i really need to buy another power cable? Many thanks in advance! Dom

Something has been bothering me for a while. So I have done some crappy, quick turn around jobs. You know the type - A Simple Boom and Lav shoot. The turn around is quick and the editor doesn't even bother with a simple sound mix, because it was shot on a 5D and they spent all their time syncing. The final videos sometimes don't have the audio tracks center panned. The boom is on the left and the Lav is on the right and it just sounds ridiculous. It makes me ashamed to have my name in the credits. I remember that I got a complaint about this a few years ago from an editor. He didn't like that when he brought my sound into his NLE (FCP7 at the time) he had to manu…

Hi, might lend myself a small gig that involves shooting with the Alexa. From what I heard from many, it is a double-system workflow shooting with it. Since the budget does not justify in investing myself with a Nomad, I'm just wondering if the Fostex FR2 with Timecode option will be able to work with Alexa, timecode compatiability wise. I have a Tvc shoot this Sunday where the frame rate will be 33.33FPS. What is this? I usually record at 25 or 24 and I'm a bit stumped as to what to set my 744T to? I have never come across this framerate before and the 744 obviously has no setting for it. .. Would 25 on the 744 do and they will fix it post? Or better to change the FPS to something else? Thank you

Hey Guys. Just wanted to check what radio frequencies / blocks are safe to use in the state of Georgia and Tennessee? Im ( very luckily ) heading out that way for a 3 week shoot from Ireland and was wondering if i can still use my ch38 /Block23-ish (606 to 630 MHz) freq radios or do i have to rent something more suitable out there? Ill only really be using 2 or 3 max at any time.. Also do i need to acquire a license? Any help is appreciated, Gray

Hi, I am designing a gooseneck podium mic/preamp. It will use an electret mic. There won't be much shock isolation between the gooseneck and the podium. I am interested in what people think a good frequency response would be. Some issues are low frequency thumps and handling materials such as notes on the podium. Also, what would be a good low pass for sibilance . Keeping in mind that in many instances there will be no sound person present to EQ. The EQ would be permanently set in the preamp. What would you set low and high pass filters at? Thanks for any help with this.

My sister was in town and came with me to a rental house. She was looking at the labels and names on some item and commented that if she had just heard some of the names without seeing the items, she would assume she was in a hunting lodge. I recently corrupted a drive and in the long search for an easy way to play/save the recovered headerless wav files, I found this programme for a mac. http://tmkk.pv.land.to/xld/index_e.html Just import as a raw file, set the destination folder and away you go!
