Wisycom provides a new feature with the newest Firmware 2.0.0. After upgradeing there is a new option under TC SETUP where you can sync the transmitter over bluetooth to a Tentacle sync E. Great improvement on set. No need to look for the proprietaty sync cable for syncing. Just hit the Jam button.

Just got latest update email from Canford in UK and they mentioned they’ve done (or soon to arrive) some rather nice looking XLR3 F and M connectors. Around 26mm I recall for the F and 21mm for the M, and not expensive (especially for us in UK). Not sure they’re available yet but if anyone was thinking of making up some Lo-prof cables in near future I’d give them a look. www.canford.co.uk Jez

Hello All. The UniFlex mini gooseneck cardioid, currently using the DPA 4080 miniature mic, has been refined. The differences are: 1) Shorter, thinner, sleeker brass head, making a much lower profile when bent. 2) Powder-coat matt black finish 3) 6-1/4 inch overall length Reminder for those unaware: The UniFlex is a miniature gooseneck mic using the DPA 4080 cardioid element, and terminated with either a TA5F connector for Lectrosonics, or a MicroDot connector for adapting to wireless transmitter brands. It is very similar to the DPA 4098, but with a much shorter mic head and rounder (cardioid) pickup pattern (the 4098 is a tig…

Looking for advice on a long shotgun. I’m currently on a basketball doc and I can’t mic the coach but I need to get his dialogue during practice. Mkh70? Anything better? Just need to pull him closer....

https://www.newsshooter.com/2023/07/06/tascam-dr-10l-pro-with-32-bit-float-recording-timecode-support/ Battery life has gone up from 10.5hrs to 24.5hrs (based on two AAA lithium batteries) Has a high-visibility OLED display, with lots of physical menu buttons for navigation. Has a headphone output so you can monitor the audio before/during/after recordings. Has an app for Android and iOS phones, you can add metadata (including project name, scene name, and take number) to the audio file. The app also gives you visual confirmation of the input audio with a waveform display over time. You can name each DR10L Pro via the app, for ea…

I've found some third party Lemo-compatible screw-on type 3-pin connectors that I much prefer over the actual Lemo version. These are the connectors that would be used with a Zaxcom transmitter, or higher end Sennheiser model. When I first got some of these I thought they were Lemo brand and that the company had improved them. Then, I realized that they were a third party version. These connectors use a tightening collar strain relief (that can be reused) rather than the crimp style that Lemo screw-ons have. Picture a strain relief more like what Neutrik XLRs use. They are easier to both wire and assemble (you don't need a special tool) and can be reused. One …

Hey everyone, Relatively new to the sound scene, and I still have the shotgun mic I bought when I was just starting out: a RODE NTG4. I recently invested in an AT4053b that I found for a good deal, and it's been great filling in for most purposes, but for outdoor shooting sometimes both options feel like they miss the mark. I'm wondering what the logical next step would be for an upgrade to the NTG4. It seems like the 416 has a reliable reputation, but does it make more sense to invest in a slightly higher end option like the 8060? I could also sell my NTG4 and get an NTG3 for almost nothing. I'm still a student, so I can't realistically afford any…

Researching which Smart battery system to go for. I came across the new Deity 95Wh batteries, which are very cheap. Then there are the 96 Wh Audioroot NEO ones, and the 98Wh Audioroot ones, which are about 100 euros more expensive than the rest. How much of a difference would a 98Wh battery make vs a 95/96Wh one in terms of runtime? Not sure what to make of all of this. Would be great to hear your input on this. Which system are you using? Anyone using the new Deity batteries? Cheers!

I'd like to hear some stories about unusual usage of Sanken cos 11's, where you may have been forced by necessity, visual reasons, or "they were all you had" to put them on guitars, drums, car engines, hydroelectric dam turbines, or whatever. I thought of this question 'cause I may have to record some drums next week, and wondered whether I could use my Sankens instead of bringing out the the old faithful Sennheiser 421's, Akg D112 etc. From what I know about cos 11's, I think they could sound pretty good, and potentially better than some of the usual drum mic suspects, but I wonder if they can handle the SPL of a close miked drumhead. I also wonder how a Lectro t…

I've asked the same question in a Facebook group, so please forgive me if I copy and paste the text here I'm on the fence about what indoor mic to buy. I really want a Schoeps CCM 41 L, as all my other mics are also Schoeps (and I have accessories for CCMs), but I was told there is an issue with whine/noise/RF interference when paired with the ZMT4 as opposed to DPA small condenser mics for example (specifically the 4018). Now since it would be my indoor mic I don't plan on going wireless all the time, only when necessary, but it is still something that I would like to keep in consideration. Also for rigging cars, now that I think of it. …

My 4018 cap screws on easily & perfectly to my MMP-B and MMP-C pre-amps - and here's where it's giving me resistance on the MMP-A. (see photos) In this moment, I do not want to take the chance on giving it more force, in order for it to seat as it should. I don't want to make the problem worse. If you've had this occur, is it an actual problem - or will it seat perfectly if I continue turning it past the resistance? Did yours? If you'd had this exact situation occur, what was the solution? Thanks for your help. - Paul

Anyone here using the Sanken CMS-50? What windshield are you using? I'm a bit confused about this: I see that Cinela makes a Cosi that fits it. Trew told me to use a Rycote WS-2 kit, but it features a 3-pin connector (CMS-50 needs 5-pin) and Rycote told me they sell no compatible windshield. Suggestions? Thanks.

In my 10+ years of experience, the times I've been asked for a timecode slate I can count on one hand. So it never made sense for me to buy one at 1000+ €, however it would be handy to have something at times. Now Tentacle Sync made an app called Timebar and claims frame accurate TC display on iOS devices if connected via bluetooth to a Tentacle Sync E. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/timebar/id1318315303?mt=8&ign-mpt=uo%3D2 Sounds very promising and could be quite revolutionary! Hats off to Tentacle again!

Browsing gear tonight and stumbled on this setup: https://filmdevices.com/rack-n-bag-info/ Looks like it would be very handy! Not too expensive either. I love how versitle i can be to go from cart/base setup to a bag setup! Seems pretty affordable too. Anyone try one?

I'm looking for opinions about water resistance of sound bags from K-Tek and Orca. Previously, I owned a Petrol bag (now Sachtler) which I could confidently mix all day in a rainstorm because the material it was made of was rubberized and repelled water. Do Orca / K-Tek bags also have this feature? I've heard that K-Teks are more of a woven plastic, without the waterproofing treatment on the interior ... can anyone confirm this? Would love to hear from anyone who owns these bags. Also, a dark horse: Are there any Protogear bag users here? They look too small for what I want, but they seem to be made of neoprene?

Looking for some practical advice and insight... I own a Sennheiser 8060 and I use this fairly often, particularly for outdoors but also for wides indoors when my MKH50 won't quite reach. I've always struggled to find a suitable indoor shockmount that I like: the mic has a long front end, is very sensitive to swings, and all this makes finding adequate indoor 'wind' protection a challenge. The best solution so far has been the Bubblebee Windkiller, but even with the Sennheiser MZF8000 filter capsule, the fit isn't quite right and either the sound is coloured too much or there is some noise created. I have MacGyver'd a shockmount using Rycote lyres to try to…

My idea was to create a cart that contained everything for small and mid level assignments. I machined the handles, positional cable hooks, and the internal antenna masts locking blocks. I also made a retractable headphone holder under the right side tilt up table top. The handles are separated so I can get to the boom poles without lifting them over a handle bar. The 2 drawer units remove quickly when transporting the cart laying down. I used 1010 and 1020 T-slot profiles. The counter top surfaces are 3mm carbon fiber. I incorporated the Rack-N-Bag system with their docking brackets. The equipment in its rack can be removed in seconds and placed in an outer nylon sh…

Hi, I am looking for a replacement for my rode ntg3 as it is too heavy and too long for me. I need to use it on a boom or attach it to my audio bag or sometimes even use it on a camera. So it should be very small. Options to me are the Sennheiser mkh 8060 or the rode ntg5. Maybe the deity s-mic 2s but I think it's not directional enough. Do you think it's worth spending more for the Sennheiser 8060? Is it really better? More directionallity? Did anyone use one of the mics? Any other recommendations? Thanks for your help!

Does anyone know what the correct wiring would be for a Deity w.lav Micro for both servo and non-servo Lectrosonics (5-pin) transmitters? The cable is 2 wire. I know that their DA5S microdot adapter works best for me on both my Lectro SMWB and UM400 (not A) transmitters. I can't seem to take apart their microdot connectors to see what magic is happening inside.

I’m working a show where they do car scenes (go pros, drop audio bag in car, etc.) I’m looking for a solution or equipment to do high fidelity IFB sending from the go pro car to producer car. Obviously its a spotty situation, the cars are moving, so I’m sure that its just the situation but I was wondering if anyone knows of a fix or solve. Thanks! and of course I’m sure im not giving as much info as needed so feel free to ask for more.
