Good morning, Has anyone replaced the XLR assembly on the uh400a? It Probably needs the complete assembly with the locking ring etc. It's noisey and has quite a bit of movement. Any tips, tricks or pics? Yes its getting on however its notably lighter with 9 v lithiums than my HMA's. Im still a big fan! Thanks

After about 4 hours of work the non-working Webcor Wire recorder I bought is now at least playback functional. (More on recording later.) Do you have any old spools? Wire Recorder.MOV

I'm just curious, having never used one, but Trew has a bunch of Lectro M-150 and M-152 lav mics available (and they've been there for a while now) for $100 a pop. Are they any good? Worth upgrading from the lame Sennheiser stock mics that come with a G2 set? Or should I just spring for a pair of B6's?

Hi folks, am relatively new to location sound recording and in the process of building up my sound package. Has anyone used the Relacart PM320R-E? I believe they are compatible with my Sennheiser G3 (UK Band E 862-865). Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Billy

Hey guys, Here's a new version of my currently Windows-only 788T control software. It can control most functions of a 788T remotely via USB. This is meant to be a replacement from here on out for Goose, my previous version. This should sort out a lot of GUI/scaling issues people were having. I re-wrote the frontend in .NET MAUI. It looks better and should scale appropriately across different screen sizes now. Download link and screenshots at the end of this post. Changes from last version: - Better UI - Persistent user settings for storing preferred COM port & temperature units. (The gear button by the power button) …

Just wanted to take a few minutes and endorse using the Shure SLXD15+ kit for camera hops. I just completed a documentary shoot using the SLXD1+ transmitter in my bag and the SLXD5+ body pack style receiver on camera. Didn't have any issues with it and seemed to play really well with the other equipment in my bag. Didn't notice any RF bleed over onto my Lectro 411s or SRb despite being placed very close to them and no unusual whining noises induced into the Comtek, just worked as advertised. Well, not really as advertised because Shure doesn't advertise using the SLXD1+ in a sound bag as a point-to-point link like I was doing here but you get the idea. Things…

Ran into an issue with my NP-1 batteries today. I have 5 NP-L7S NP1 batteries. I just came back from a trip and when i tried charging them on my JL-2plus charger, two of them did not charge. They went from red led to a blinking orange led. The other three charged fine. I then tried charging them on my KL4 charger and they started to charge with no problem. After calling IDX support, i was told to try to bend ( ever so slightly ) the contacts pin on the charger because they taught that the battery sensor were not communicating properly with the charger. Well it worked. They are now charging. I love when it is that simple….

Interesting new piece of kit and one thing I notice on it is a 12v XLR input. https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/fairlightlive https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1963937-REG/blackmagic_design_farlight_live_audio_panel.html

EDIT: It seems I am not in the running for this gig, as they did not reach out when they said they would, twice. Ah well. Thanks for the amazing discussion! I gained a lot of knowledge and I've decided to update my music rig to a real DAW. So that's great! **** I have an interview next week for this doco-drama project, and I don't think the Deva 16s are the right recorders. (I'm not prepared to enter the SD world just yet.) The shows needs a digital mixing board for routing anyhow (according to them, I don't have details), so I'm leaning towards music-style recording, on a computer via the mixer's USB. The mixer is going to be something like a Yamaha DM3 or Alle…

So, the zmt4-x doesn't like to play well with dpa's microlock - the barrel is to wide. won't fully seat. zax says you can send it back and they'll sort it. Anyone know what they do? Can i just pull the rubber o-ring out? I need to use it and don't have time to get it sorted.

Dear all - I would greatly appreciate some toughs to help to find a solution for my next 1-3 projects that are all live music (from strings to even folk maybe… and singing!) and all deserve good audio, but… I’m filming cultural documentaries and in most occasions I try to stick my camera to places where more than me won’t be allowed. That has led me to the point, where I run things all by myself, that is direct, shoot, “collect the sound material”. The formula has been accepted by many professionals, but I am well aware the risks it includes and even if I take my tasks seriously, it’s not bullet proof. All I can do is try to minimise them. I shoot raw …

Hello all. I've been feverishly working on this app over the past year and it's finally at a stage where I'm happy to release it to the public. You can download a free 2 week trial now at: metasoundtools.com Some of the features include: - Single and batch editing of audio metadata - Playback and otf mixing of polywav's - Batch merging of audio files (re-merge your radios into your master recorder files automatically) - PDF and CSV reports Lots more to come - I plan on constantly pushing out features on this over the next few months but any feedback on this basic functionality would be greatly appreciated.

By my first looks this seems to be designed thoughtfully. It is stackable and offers a 3/8" tread. Weights >450g appear a little big though for booming stacking. https://ambient.de/en/products/quickpole-counter-weight

I was sending tone, and going through a bunch of R1a’s to check that they were all tuned to the correct frequency by plugging in a headset (not wearing it, just holding it in hand, plugging in, turning on), one by one. Didn’t hear anything out of one of them, and assumed it was tuned to the wrong frequency. Upon checking, turns out it was on the correct one. Turning the volume knob all the way up, I could hear tone, but way too low. Now, before sending it in, is this one of those hidden settings that happens when someone pushes the buttons in some certain “secret “ way to enable mic level, and you need to do some “turn on while holding the button, turn off 4seconds, …

Something new from Lectro! Looks nice. https://lectrosonics.com/lectrosonics-introduces-the-ifbt2-0-interruptible-foldback-transmitter-base-station/ If you ask me, the missing piece in the lineup is an IFB receiver that works in 400 digital hybrid mode! C'mon guys! It would be great!

Hi everyone, I'm looking for a review of the Orca 445. I only find reviews about the 444 like this: The noise would be a NoGo for me, so does anyone if Orca improved that on the updated version?

Hey Everyone, Here is a super rough version of Goose, my 788T control software. Please keep in mind this is VERY ROUGH and I'm posting it to get a feel of what sort of glitches/bugs I need to work out. But feel free to download it and try it. I'm curious to hear any problems/crashes you might have so I can fix them. SCREENSHOT GALLERY: https://imgur.com/a/MdfATSF Here is a list of some of the stuff you can do with it: FEATURES - Fully control the 788T's transport REC/STOP/PLAY - Edit scene/take info easily for the last recorded and next take - One-button "lettering up" to the next scene letter (haven't implemented a num…

Making a post to see what people’s favorite sound devices 8 series control surfaces are - I’m looking to get one for my 833, and was dead set on the VDB optio as I like its design/functionality, but due to user complaints of bugs/instability I’m back to the drawing board. What has worked for you and proven to be a reliable workhorse?

I've been having some strange problems regarding my NP 9X, it's been 4 of them with the same problem: suddenly the main connector stopped providing power, I've been using only the idx chargers (the old station or the dtap's) and I don't know what could cause the problem, it is certainly not a current or power problem because the chargers still work and my old NP-L7S' still work as a workhorse. I'm pretty tired and thinking of switching to esmart batteries, but I'd like to know if some of you have had the same problems with those batteries and if you found a solution to it. thanks in advance, Axel.

I'm about 25 years too late in asking, but as my PortaDAT is in for service (..yup, still using that..) I'm now on the backup Fostex PD-4. However, using new L-I NP-1 batts (as distinct from old Ni-Cads) the 'low-voltage' battery-beep keeps on beeping - as a HI-voltage warning, presumably - when using freshly-charged L-I 14-4 volt batts. [I know about SetUp 119 to choose the voltage at which the PD-4 warns of LOW voltage, but I cannot, so far, find any way to DISABLE the beep-beep as an OVER-voltage warning. Google's AI (mistakenly?) says that it can be turned OFF using SetUp 118 ..but I've not found that, and nor do I find any mention of switching…

I started noticing a little too much noise out of my MP-1, and then, when I got it home and started inspecting it, noticed it was picking up me knocking on the case. Opened it up and started tapping on components, and the transformer is the culprit. Has anyone tried swapping out a new one? Worth it? Any good sources for the new part?
