Hi all, I'm considering upgrading my SD 633 to either an 833 or Zaxcom Nova 2. If I do decide to go with the Nova I will have to continue using my current wireless for some time as I gradually change over to the Zaxcom ecosystem (if I decide to go that route). So my question is this, what is the best way to get digital audio from external receives (in this case Wisycom MCR54 and Lectrosonics SRB) into the Nova 2? I understand that with the original Nova the "MAES slot-in module" could be used for this purpose. Is this still the best way to go about it with the Nova 2? Alternatively I see that the DB-15 mini port at the bott…

Hi I updated to 7.20 on my Scorpio and then the Icon wouldn’t connect. I see I’m on 2.08 and 2.09 is the current firmware. I went to the Icon page which directed me to the Scorpio Specific firmware but when I extract it.... it’s a BIN file which is a MAC format. Can someone point Me to which 2.09 firmware Is relevant. Im back on 7.10 and the Scorpio Icon are talking Cheers Nevo

I ran a frequency scan on my 2 block 26 Lectrosonics Lectrosonics 211 this morning and came back with drastically different results. They were both being powered by twofer cable coming out pf my PSC powerstar mini BDS running off a switronix np L60 battery. Everything else in my bag was powered off. When I swapped out the power cable the scans matched. When I restored the original power cable and scanned again, the scans were much more similar. I haven't had any problems with either one of my receivers or the power supply, bit im a bit concerned by the discrepancy. Could this rf spray be coming from the power cable or power supply? Marc

Hi, I have a bunch of Micron units that I need to send in for service. Can anyone recommend a good service shop for Micron units? I usually send them back to Micron in the UK, but hopefully there is a place either in the US or Canada. Thank you, Dustin-

hello i was wondering if there was a speceific reason for using one straight whip and one right angle whip anntena on a zaxcom eng stereo receiver, i have always used two straight anntenna's, but was recently told by another recordist that zaxcom recommend using one straight and one right angle whip as it increases the effective distance between the two anntena's, thus increasing reliability etc, less 'hits' etc, how do fellow zaxcom eng receiver users have their whip anntena's??, i have always used straight whips on all my receivers as thats the position of the transmitter anntena ie vertical..any advice appreciated thanks richard paterson

Chinhda has added a feature to the sound cart. All carts will now be equipped with a special bracket to provide rear support for rack drawers and other gear mounted on the lower frame rails. Photos can be seen on the site: http://www.productionrecording.com/Tools/ChinhdaCartV3.html There is no extra charge for this bracket. Cart prices, by the way, are now posted on the site. Chinhda will also be selling special brackets, like tie-downs for the Cooper mixer, Sound Devices recorder, Aaton Cantar recorder, etc. as separate items. While intended for use with the Chinhda cart, these are equally useful on Magliner carts or whatever you may have. The individual …

I have a project coming up that is going to be using the new Sony ex-3 camera. It looks very promising, as it features proper timecode in and outs on BNC's wich should make locking up with an external recorder a whole lot simpler then with the EX 1, or any other small format camera for that matter. Check out a video review of it here: http://www.philipbloom.co.uk/Philip_Bloom/XDCAMEX3.html

I started hearing intermittent static sounds in one of my UTX-B03 transmitters. Sounds just like an FM radio between stations—comes and goes. Problem presents at locations I recorded in for years with no issues. I ruled out mics, batteries, and power supplies, always sync to open frequencies before each use, and run the OEM Sony locking TRS-XLR cables into my Sound Devices recorder. Compander set to UWP. Firmware is up to date. Sony tech support went through all the troubleshooting with me and concluded it's maybe the UTX-B03 preamp—if I send it to Sony for repair, it's a $155 non-refundable consult + shipping and I will probably end up paying about $275 …

Hey guys, Just looking for some info on this. Im using 2 pairs of 211s and 200b. With 2 Sanken cos11 that came from the shop wired for lectro LMa. Im getting a weird noise like harmonics way back in there. Do i need to rewire for the 200b? Is the wiring different? I read something that made me think that. I bought the lectros used and had never used them, so i don't know if the noise is normal but i doubt it. I also have to keep the trim on the 200b very very low. Thoughts, Thanks in advance.

I know I've seen the answer to this question on here before, but after countless searches I can't seem to find it. I have UCR411's and UCR201's - which would be better to use for a camera hop? I *think* I should be using the 201's because the 411's will be able to handle having the transmitters closer to them in the bag than the 201's would. Is that the right thinking? *edit* fixed a typo. Using 411's, not 401's

With the disapperance of our spectrum, I have been collecting my wireless on different frequency blocks, so I can at least have a choice if stuck in RF hell. I am thinking about picking up a fourth and I am going back and forth on if I should continue this seperation or get a frequency block that I have, that has the greatest available option. If I grabbed a block I didn't have already, the only block available has only 2 TV stations clear. But if I grabbed a block I currently have, it has 2 and a half TV stations clear, and it helps with intermod more effectively. Where, with my current setup, the block that is different limits my intermod availablity to 1 station. And I…

Hi, i‘m looking For a way to sync the Tc of a mix pre 6 to a 788t, or the other way around. (or if there’s another way but tc I would be interested to). i guess I need a tc generator that will feed both... right? Or can the 788 give out its internal tc and I can feed it into the mix pre 6? which solutions are out there? all I want is to have these both units in perfect sync to each other later in the post. (No picture in the workflow! Just the 2 machines.) 788 and mixpre are right beside each other.. so no Wireless really needed... thanks!

Anyone know the thread size and length of the essential (but easily lost, apparently) Knurled Thumb Screw that holds the back cover onto the Denecke TS-2 slate? Thanks in advance. Karl Wasserman NYC

So, was thinking about buying a Denecke as a master clock.. Then I realized that I had a (what used to be) pretty expensive and reliable master clock attached to the bottom of my HHB portadat. So here's the question: Does anyone know how to remove the TC module from an HHB portadat, and wire it so that it can operate as a standalone master clock (with maybe a dc input from some batteries)? A

Hi guys, Wondering if anyone has any experience using the Shure MX393/O boundary mic? http://www.shure.com/americas/products/microphones/microflex/mx392-mx393-microflex-boundary-microphones Here's the situation: A few months ago I worked on a shoot in a classroom with about 15-25 students. Two camera's, one wide, one on close ups. It was an ESL class, so students with varying degrees of confidence with the English language. The class proceeded as normal (ignoring the cameras) with a lesson and then student/teacher interaction. Of course, the teacher was wired, but the students all had to be boomed. The issue became that to hear some of these shy kids, …

Probably, it won't be on our shopping list, but I could not resist to post it here. When it’s not possible to have an experienced sound engineer on site, the d:vice™ can act as a ‘mini sound engineer in your pocket’. http://www.dpamicrophones.com/microphones/dvice?utm_source=DPA+Complete&utm_campaign=fe8196725d-WW%3A+d%3Avice+launch_25-April-2017_Broadcast&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_a141748c6e-fe8196725d-317003577&mc_cid=fe8196725d&mc_eid=f8806e2db6

http://www.synthtopia.com/content/2015/01/29/korg-noritake-introduce-futuristic-nutube-vacuum-tubes/ I think this sounds amazing and have sooo much potential use! I also can not imagine how much more possibilities could come out of the design. What do you guys think? One thing, they should try to make the chips somehow look like a real tube I think or implement inside the design. Some fake bulb-like thing especially for the applications where the dimensions are not as problematic such as guitar heads and the "looks" are important !! at least to me. Engin

Just got a mixpre for a light 4 channel package. 744t channel 3-4 level setup default 0db Mixpre limiter set to maximum +18. 744t overloads. What is a correct way of setting this? Reduce 744t input or decrease limiters threshold? I expected both units to work together since they are made by the same company. Are the levels mismatched? Thanks and sorry for the greenhorn question.

Hey, I was wondering if anyone knew if the IR frequecy syncing that Lectro gear uses is just an IR-ified version of the audio deeedle tones, or is it something different? Thanks

Had a new one this week. Could not change the names of the input tracks on my 664. Apparently there is a limit of 50 names. Every time that you add a new entry it eats one space up. After reloading factory track names I was able to add new names. Drove me nuts for a few days until I finally emailed sound devices.

recently had a chat with one of the local dealers in my area regarding my plans to acquire two wireless units from overseas forums. he warns me of the risk that many other wireless users in singapore faced when they import units frm overseas. many of the units re-sold in ebays and forums are found to have their serial number removed or scratched as they r believed to be stolen items. just like to find out where is this serial number found on the units? is it true lectro does not service units without proper serial numbers?

Hello, Does anybody use MTP40s and MPR52 as a camera hop and is it any good? What kind of cable do you need to go from the xlr output of a recorder to the MTP40S, does it need to be paded? I am used to the lectrosonics hop with Srb and I used the paded cable from remote audio to the feed some old UM400a and the results was great. I do not see a lot of cable specific to wysicom, there is a remoteaudio cable XLR to lemo paded for zaxcom transmitter, will it work with the wysicom?
