Hi All, I've been hanging on to my old Tascam HD-P2 recorder - still works well, sounds good and might be a good backup recorder in a pinch. That said, I wonder if using an SD Card in a Compact Flash Adaptor would be advisable or risky? The main reason being, I am using SD type cards in everything else and was hoping to keep things somewhat universal. Thanks kindly for your thoughts. Keep well, Dave

One of the trim knobs has fallen off my beloved Tascam HS-P82. Ordinarily, I'd simply put the knob back on, and tighten the set screw, just as with any other knob on any other device on this planet. However, the set screw on this particular knob is inceredbily tiny, by far the smallest I've ever seen, and I do not have a tool that fits it. I tried calling Tascam, to ask what size the scew is, but nobody over there has any clue. This is their flagship product, the most expensive thing they make, and not one person in their company can tell me the size of a simple screw. That's mindblowing. Fine people of the JW community, does anyone here have a…

I just recently bought these Comtek units from some sound recordist and I noticed that they are missing the little “compand” and “mic” switches are missing. Is this normal or are these fake units? They seem to work fine but not sure what to make of this.

I have a bad PR-216 output cable at the mini phone connector, just wondering about wiring, because it is a sealed connector. The XLR end of the cable has resistors and a small capacitor siliconed in. Just wondering if replacing this connector is possible - would like to use a Neutrix right angle mini-phone. I'll also contact Comtek on this and spread the word when a response is received. I'm considering the possibility of purchacing a DPA 4060 after watching an RFLO Sound video on youtube. In it, he was comparing the DPA 4060 with the Sanken COS-11. After doing my own research I noticed there was more than one version of the DPA-4060 such as: the DPA 4060-BM, 4060-OC-C-B00, 4060 Hi-Sens. What's the difference between all of these? Also can I purchase them with adapters either, Sennheiser or Lectrosonics? I want to be able to work with both.

Hi, I just picked up a few DPA 4061s to try out and was looking for some accessories, there's a pretty cool looking little two part clip on concealer I picked up but I failed to find a vampire clip anywhere. The only one I could find was the LMC Universal one and it looks really bulky, about twice the size of a normal V-clip. Something like this is what I’m looking for: http://lmcsound.com/products/vclip-dpa/ Anyone know where I can find V-clips for the DPA 4061 in the UK or if not here then in the EU? Any help appreciated and while I'm here any 4061 mounting related advise if it comes to mind.

I've got a Stellavox AMI-48 up for grab in mint condition. Tested and working and knobs been fixed so no crackling when turning them. All lights work and its been used by my dads friend 6 si gle times in its lifetime. Its been shelved for decades until i found it and got it from him for free. I have only started it and tested it and only improvement i did was leaving it at a vintage synth repairmsn who cleaned it overall and also inside so the knobs nolonger makes the crackling sound. Even the plastic cover which is original is almost mint condition. Anyone in here intrested? (Better sell it to an enthusiast than average joe on ebay)

Hi, The Lectrosonics SR9VBP battery pack seems like a clever backup system for use with devices that use SONY L series 7.2vDC batteries. Does it just place two 9vDC batteries in parallel for or is there some sort of regulation? Thank you.

Hi All, Was watching a review video for the Sound Devices Mix-Pre 10T whereby it was suggested that this recorder might pair well with a console style mixing board with linear faders, leaving the Mix-Pre to function strictly as a recorder. What board might be a good candidate for this function? Since the 10T has limited outputs (4?) would monitoring select record enabled tracks from the board mixer present problems? Have the 10T coming and curious about maxing its potential. Thanks kindly for your thoughts - as always, very much appreciated. Cheers and Happy 2018, Dave

I have created a handle for the Denecke Time Code Slates. This TC Slate Handle was designed to add additional support and ease of operation of the Denecke Time Code Slate. A better grip means less dropped slates ! This handle is manufactured in the USA and is made of machined aluminum. It is light weight only 2.6 ounces. This Time Code Slate Handle does not damage the sticks. It neatly installs under the sticks using the existing two left screws. Installation is 5 minutes !! Got some new DPA Core 4061's. First impressions they sound really good.interesting I was expecting lower noise floor to my legacy 4061's but sounds about the same. overall not a night and day sonic difference but the thing I do hear is on louder stuff the Core versions retain transients and clarity better and obviously don't break up/distort as quickly.that increased 14 db headroom. they're gonna be useful for sure.

Thought I'd share something I'm working on with fellow recordist Matt Morris here in the UK. It's a timecode solution for the Tascam DR10 beltpack recorder which allows accurate syncing of the records internal clock which it uses to stamp its bWAV files.

I'd been curious about the Tascam DR10 mini recorders, they seemed like an interesting cost-effective tool to have on hand as a remote plant-mic recorder, a recorder to be used in parallel with a wireless tx and many other uses I might encounter where a very small digital recorder would be handy. I was able to get ahold of one via some friends overseas, where they are available apparently, although they could only get the "S" version, the one with TRS mini connectors theoretically designed to use with mics connectored for Sennheiser, Shure and AKG wirelesses. I knew from experience that my Lectro-TA5F connectored mics worked fine with Sennheiser G2/3 transmitters via a …

Hi! I have three wireless systems from Audio Limited Envoy series that supports external powering. The thing is that two of the recievers are CXIR and supports power between 7-18 volts, and one MXIR that only supports 7-12 volts. The current draw is 55-150mah from the recievers. I am looking for a solution to externally power all the three from one battery. I have looked at some NP style 11.1 volt batteries, as well as Li-on batterys such as the Inspired Energy ones. I've also looked at the 14.4 volts NP style batteries, but then I have to step down the 14.4 volts to 12 in a way that still makes the battery happy. Have looked into some RC NiMH pack…

Hey. Do any other manufacturers make a tie clip that fits the Sanken Cos-11 (other fits would be bonus) and is possibly less expensive than the OEM version? Would it be *that* hard to design a single, "universal" clip that works with all the popular lavs? cheers Adam

Hey guys, Seeing all the announcements of new sync boxes... Having the pleasure to give this little and I mean "TINY" sync box a go from Mozegear.. Basically the size of a 9v... This version has a 4hr internal rechargeable battery with 4 pin hirose for power.. Same accurate clock as the TIG and Q28.. Running with Sony F55's and ZERO issues on sync... Steadycam guys love it! I know they are cooking up a few other things and hope they will have more to say at NAB.. Wish I could go... Pretty sure it also can do Lemo instead of BNC....

Yesterday I found some interesting equipment authorizations on the FCC web site. They were granted in the last two weeks, and the information in the filings matches wideband versions of the SM transmitter, with references to both single (SMWB) and dual battery (SMDWB) packages. FCC ID search here: https://www.fcc.gov/oet/ea/fccid of particular interest were FCC IDs: DBZSMWBA1 DBZSMWBB1 DBZSMWBB2 DBZSMWBC1

I was just playing with my Sound Devices 633 and I noticed there seems to be something loose moving inside the chassis of the machine. At first I thought it was the AA batteries but I removed them and noticed it still happens. It seems to be coming from the underside of the machine and when I hold it and rotate it I can feel the slight vibration of the moving object inside. Can anyone give suggestions about the cause of this? The 663 seems to be working well otherwise but I just got it so I haven’t used it extensively yet. On the video below you can clearly hear the sound as I rotate it.

I am out in the field and discovered one of my sanken d's wired for zaxcom lemos works with newer lectro trx's as intended but does not work with my lectro ssm. But my other sankens as well as countrymans and others do. I also recall this being the same issue with my older trx900-123's where some sankens worked and some didnt - will be testing as soon as i get home next week. I wired all of these myself and to the best of my knowledge i followed most recent recommendations here on jw. Is there some universal wiring i missed here on jw for sankens that is known to work across new zax/old zax/new lectro lemo transmitters? -Ken
