I'm looking for a small plate or holder that will help me mount a TC box (I have Denecke JB-1s and Tentacles) or perhaps a G3-sized RX to camera cages/plates 1/4-inch and/or 3/8-inch mounts. There is a bracket made for Tentacle Sync Es, but Denecke didn't have any recommendations. So I turn to all of you: What do you use to mount TC boxes (especially) to cameras besides velcro and such? There's this bracket made by Lanparte for Tentacle Sync E. Sizing is a smidge different from JB-1 sizing. But does anyone have first-hand knowledge on if you can wedge a JB-1 into this? https://shop.tentaclesync.com/product/sync-e-bracket-by-lanparte/ …

I am on a Live event shoot and we need all of the cameras to be in sync for Multicam editing(no sound). The DP wants to roll the cameras at 59.94fps. I will be mounting Denecke SB-T lockit boxes onto the cameras. 1.Is it possible for the RED to record video at 59.94fps, while also stamping the file with a 29.97fps timecode from the SB-T? 2. if it is not, what is the best option to be able to make sure all of the REDs are in sync with frame accuracy? 3. Also, the video is being recorded in Camera, and NOT live streaming, do I need to send the Cameras GenLock? Thank you Jordan

Just did some shooting on the EX3 this morning and only had the left channel coming back on my return. Seemed to be the same with headphones plugged in. Couldn't find an option for this in the manual on the audio routing or monitoring. Meters on the camera were happy and it was all there playing back over the speaker. Anyone else had this? Broken camera? Odd size jack?

Dear all, we're going to shoot in kind of extreme environmental conditions in the next months. So perhaps you can help me. How do you decide which camera to use? At which criterias/parameters are you looking at? In most data sheets I can only find the paramters temperature and humidity. What about dust and rain protection(I can't really find IP-classes or stuff like that)? And also when it comes to transport and storage. I'm thinking about really hot temperatures in a car or damaged streets so that the camera get's shaked a lot. Did you ever had problems with stuff like acid rain in industrial places? What abut going from warm into cold places and vi…

I am curious how two FS7's, with nothing jamming them, will often have their timecode very close to one another (not perfect of course, but visibly close) but my mixer is always off quite quickly? Surely a professional audio recorder should hold better TC than an FS7? My theory is that the cameras reset to some sort of internal clock, to the minute, and so when you turn two of them on they "appear" to be in sync.

So everyone is listing off high end cine cameras, thought I would share my excitement for a "lil" camera on the other end of the spectrum, not so much for professional use, but something I'm looking forward to myself... kiddie home movies, vacation snapshots, and some enthusiasts photo opportunities... The Sony NEX-7 is an APS-C sized miniature interchangeable lens DSLR-like performer. 24MP sensor (too much I think) seems to have good dynamic range and ok noise at normal ISO settings limited lenses, but lots of adapters available. One of the e mount lens options looks like an "OK" performing 24mm f1.8 Zeiss branded prime. Has an electronic viewfinder! Ass…

I will be doing a shoot this week with either a 60D or an EX3. Looking through the EX3 manual I see pics of the on-screen audio meters, but they seem to have no markings. Where on the meters do I wanna see my -20dBFS tone? Looking at the 60D manual, there is NO mention of audio in. Anyone have experience putting scratch on a 60D? Many thanks, B

Hi does anybody know whether the microphone which comes with the PDW 700 on the viewfinder is a XY-mic (with two cardios) or an MS-mic (with hypercardio and eight and matrix)? I don't find any answer in my sony documents here ... Yes, I know this mic is baaaad. But I'm just discussing with my company if we're gonnal run it in mono or stereo by default. Mono would make sense if it's MS, as an additional directional mike. For XY it would make sense to run it in stereo as an additional ambience mike. Thank you Mungo

I'm using an SRb for the first time (Zaxcom convert) in the slot of a Panasonic camera. I have the output set to +5 and it sounds too hot. I lowered the output to -10 and it sounds fine now. What are your settings? Is this normal/typical?

Just what is the deal with the menus in the Sony F55? Why do they make time slow to a crawl when accessing them? What is the point of a wheel-driven menu system that is so latent that you overshoot the line you want EVERY time? Why when you are trying to trim audio sensitivity does it show you some arbitrary scale only, and not the actual camera audio input levels as well? I really dislike having to get way into menus to set audio levels in and out. I could live with the menu thing if I didn't always feel history passing me by as I SLOWLY cycle through the menus to do what I need to do... philp

Does anyone have experience with the timecode stability of the Sony F3? Getting ready to do a shoot with 3 and am trying not to load the camera down needlessly. Wondering if they drift when left to their own devices. Matt

Heya! I guess most of you are familiar with mki and mkii of this camera. Its straight forward to slap on a TC box, set TC to in, preset, free run and its all thats needed to run smoothly. I could not get it to work on the mark iii today. Has anyone got a similair experience or got any 'gotchas' they could share? Only thing I can think of in hindsight was if the cable was broken or if there was a monitor setting that I didn't catch, but I had the impression that it didn't catch the TC at all.

I'm on set feeding an epic tc through a hardline from my 788T into the 5 pin lemo on the Pro i/o. I've set the epic to external tc but its not picking up the tc. We've taken it off external and manually set it to time of day. I then checked my 788 and discovered it's receiving tc from the epic back through my tc cable's tc out on xlr. I'm jammed up but confused as to what I'm missing. I'll have to do the same with a scarlet in a few hours. The AC is no help. Thanks, Parker

My friends - i think it has finally happened. A DSLR that almost gives us audio-heads what we have been longing for. It is not quite XLR, but Mini-Jack input at line level, and a headphone output port. As i read it, the Microphone input port can be set to accept line level sources, but the specifications are not completely clear on this. Fingers crossed..

Hi All, I usually see Arri Alexa Minis on my jobs, but have a shoot coming up with three Alexa XTs. It's been years since I've seen a full-size Alexa, so can anyone confirm that they still can NOT take external Genlock from a Lockit box (unlike a Mini or Amira - which can take either Tri-Level or Genlock to TC)? This is a Concert shoot - so I'd normally recommend Genlock. thanks, nick

So I've been driving myself crazy lately with an audio issue that's really not an issue. I work with the same C300 very often, and I've been noticing some strange interference just recently. I notice it during sit down interviews when I listen to the camera return...I hear little blips like digital crickets. the thing is, audio from the mixer is clean, so it's not the mics picking up interference. I've swapped out my cables and breakaways to the camera, so it's probably not them. Every so often I just start hearing these blips, very very softly in the background. It's not something you would notice unless you're listening for it, but I hear it loud and clear now. Thi…

I'm working on a show with two tiny Marshall car cameras that only output 30fps despite the show being 29.98DF. Does anyone know of an inexpensive, portable video converter to do this? I realize this is not a sound issue but I'm trying to help camera out (and want to make sure my files sync properly). Maybe something like one of those small Blackmagic converters?

I just bought a sony fs100 camera., set at 1080/25p fx. This should give a bit rate up to 24 mb/sec. When I connect the camera with usb2 cable to my mac pro and import it in premiere pro CS 5.0 then the images are very bad. The only thing I can find is that the bit rate of the images is about 2,8 mb/sec, which seems to be very low I think? So should this be the cause and what to do about it, or what could be the problem ?

I just wrapped a project involving the Arri Amira Camera with Zaxcom QRX200, QRX235 and the wideband transmitters. I was not happy with the Zaxcom units at first thinking they were not as good as the old units then i was quick to realize that the issue was with the Arri Amira Camera! The camera puts out a ton of RF energy and desensitized all my receivers and my sound persons units. I was wondering if others have had this same experience. I have been digging around for some white papers but have not found any. If any of the sound shops want to borrow my arri amira to create one feel free to reach out. I am currently in the Brooklyn, NY area. Mayb…

Am shooting on an XF305 with Zax links and an Atomos Samurai reorder. Getting totally boned by ground loops around the battery pinch. Basically, I cannot power the camera and the links from the battery pinch at the same time without hearing hideous noise in the audio. Ground loop is so bad that it makes the Atomos drop-out periodically. Am presently working on a solution that bypasses the battery pinch and simply powers the solution from one of the D-TAPS's on the V-Lock. Unfortunately, I can't work a camera power solution in at this point. Have tried a DCDC converter to bypass the pinch and power the camera, but this is too noisy. Will probably grab a rectifier …

Words to live by: 20 Speaker (P47) • Be careful not to cover the speaker with your finger. Doing so may make sound difficult to hear. They have a similar admonition for the built-in mic. philp

I recently recorded some interviews in quiet rooms that were shot on a C300. The interviews took a few hours each. After some time, with the room heating up from the lights, I noticed the camera getting louder, fan noise or something similar to what we know from Red cameras that aren't set to quiet mode. I quickly went through the camera menu but couldn't find any such setting comparable to Red or Alexa quiet modes. The DP didn't know either. Is there such a setting?
